Mysterious Blackberry device spotted alongside Blackberry Z10 and N-series

QWERTY e1356359692723 Mysterious Blackberry device spotted alongside Blackberry Z10 and N seriesEarlier on we reported that the Blackberry 10 N-series was caught on camera (once again), and according to a post on 4chan, images of the Z10 and the N-series have been spotted side-by-side, along with another Blackberry device that we can’t help but feel is reminiscent to the HTC Facebook phone. Given that Blackberry 7 devices are available in different tiers, like the Torch, Bold, Curve and etc., we wouldn’t be surprised if RIM had plans to do something similar with Blackberry 10 devices. While the poster claims that the handset on the left is the white version of the N-series, we beg to differ as the keys are somewhat similar to the Curve series of Blackberry 7 handsets. Could this be the Dev Alpha C device that RIM had recently given out to its developers, or are we looking at a possible final design of another Blackberry 10 handset? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Blackberry N-series caught on camera again

blackberry n series Blackberry N series caught on camera againA couple of days ago we reported that thanks to a leaked image, an alleged photo of the Blackberry 10 N-series was caught on camera. For those hoping for a clearer photo, another image spotted on CNbeta has revealed the front portion of the N-series which as you can see, sports a visibly larger display compared to current Blackberry 7 phones like the Bold 9900. To be fair this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the N-series as renderings of the handset have been spotted before, although hopefully this more “realistic” photo will be enough to help some customers make up their minds as to whether they’d prefer a full screen device like the Z10, or if they want to go back to the good old days with a QWERTY keyboard layout with the N-series. Either way what do you guys think? Would you be getting the N-series or would be go for the full touchscreen experience with the Z10?

RIM rumored to lower Blackberry 7 device prices with the launch of Blackberry 10

devices 602x274 RIM rumored to lower Blackberry 7 device prices with the launch of Blackberry 10With the launch of Blackberry 10 on the 30th of January in 2013 and the subsequent Blackberry 10 devices that will launch after it, will customers still turn towards RIM’s Blackberry 7 handsets? The good news is that if you are worried that Blackberry 10 phones are going to be expensive, but you love the Blackberry platform anyway, word on the street (via Digitimes) has it RIM will be lowering the prices of Blackberry 7 handsets to help expand their market share. Given that Blackberry has a pretty strong base in emerging markets like Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America, we guess RIM is hoping that by lowering the prices, they will be able to capture even more market share from said regions. Perhaps they might even start to capture some market share in the US and Europe where they aren’t doing as well compared to the competition like iOS and Android.

Alleged Blackberry 10 N-series caught on camera

2991004915 Alleged Blackberry 10 N series caught on cameraRIM is said to debut two Blackberry 10 devices next year – a full touchscreen phone and one with a physical QWERTY keyboard. We’ve already seen plenty of photos of the L-series (also known as the Z10), and thanks to the folks at NerdBerry, they claim to have gotten their hands on an image of the N-series, which for those who haven’t been following the news is the QWERTY Blackberry 10 handset. Granted this is only the back portion of the device which leaves us a little skeptical, but then again if the N-series has been designed to resemble current Blackberry devices, with the main difference being in its operating system, then we guess it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination of think that this could be it. It’s not much to go on but we guess it’s better than nothing. Either way RIM will be launching Blackberry 10 on the 30th of January 2013, so be sure to check back with us then for the details.

BlackBerry 10 keyboard gets a video walkthrough

We’re quickly approaching BlackBerry 10‘s scheduled launch, and as we go along, we’re slowly learning new details about the operating system and the devices it’ll be featured on. Today we’re getting a closer look at BlackBerry 10′s keyboard thanks to a video demo by RIM’s Vivek Bhardwaj. In the brief demo, Bhardwaj shows off a number of new features, starting right off with the look of BlackBerry 10′s keyboard.

Bhardwaj says that it was important for RIM to match the look of traditional BlackBerry keyboards, and looking at the video, it would appear the company has. Bhardwaj points out the white font against the black keys, and says that each key is “kind of maximized edge-to-edge.” He also points to the fact that next word suggestions will be in your own vocabulary, saying “the actual predictions themselves are in-key, and you simply swipe to actually type.”

It seems that RIM is attempting to do a lot with inference with the BlackBerry 10 keyboard, as evidenced by the fact that the system will actually predict where spaces should be inserted. Therefore, should you miss the space key, the system will be able to correct the error for you. BlackBerry 10 will also try to infer when you need to switch languages to type a different word, switching back when you’re ready to begin typing in your native language again.

All in all, the BlackBerry 10 keyboard sounds like a nice piece of software. The OS as a whole has some pretty impressive features, so RIM should be launching a solid system next year. The question is whether or not consumers, most of which have been abandoning BlackBerry lately, will bite. Are you interested in giving BlackBerry 10 a spin when it launches?

RIM highlights the Blackberry 10 virtual keyboard in new video

Virtual keyboards are just as important as physical keyboards, especially with our devices being mostly touchscreen these days. Now Blackberry has been known for featuring excellent physical keyboards, but how will RIM handle the virtual keyboard? Will it be just as good, or even better? In a new video released by RIM, Vivek Bhardwaj gives a tour of the new Blackberry 10 keyboard, highlighting its design which mimics the physical ones found on current Blackberry devices, and some of its features. Rather interestingly is a feature he points out which basically if you’re a fast or clumsy typer or misses the spacebar occasionally, the Blackberry 10 keyboard can detect that and will automatically insert spaces between words for you so that you can keep typing without interruption, a feature he is calling “space inference”. Sounds pretty cool and if you’d like to learn more about Blackberry 10’s virtual keyboard, check out the video above.

RIM offers first glimpse of BlackBerry 10 hardware

We know that RIM will be launching BlackBerry 10 in January 30, 2013. At least that’s the plan for now, but that could easily change. In any case, RIM has quietly teased us with a vague glimpse at an upcoming BlackBerry 10 smartphone on their website. It barely peeks out from the shadows, but we’re offered a look of that gives us a bit more information on what to look forward to.

From the teaser image, we can see that the phone will have some sort of textured backing with the camera placed in the upper-left corner. Volume buttons seem to also be visible in the image, which are placed the right side of the handset, and what looks to be a power button at the top will be placed in the middle, just like the HTC DROID DNA.

Overall, we’d say that if you’re expecting something similar to the alpha hardware we saw in the past, that’s probably a good guess, but a few changes will definitely be taking place. We expect a lot of changes in both the hardware and software to occur once January 30 rolls around, but BlackBerry seems to have most of the major elements in place.

BlackBerry 10 certainly has potential, and with all of the marketing and campaigning that they’ve done to promote the new platform, we’re guessing launch day will be a big day for RIM, but hopefully BlackBerry 10 will have what it takes to take on Windows Phone 8 for the third-place spot in market share.

QWERTY Blackberry 10 device will not be delayed to June 2013 despite reports

While some Blackberry users are clamoring to get their hands on the new L-series full touchscreen Blackberry 10 device come 2013, we’re sure that there are just as many Blackberry users who are more interested in seeing how RIM’s QWERTY Blackberry 10 devices will perform, and if the comfort of typing on them would be similar, if not better, than the current-gen Blackberry phones. Some of you guys might have read a report on Forbes that suggested that RIM will not be releasing their QWERTY Blackberry 10 device until at least June, but according to the folks at CrackBerry who reached out to RIM for confirmation, and it was revealed that isn’t the case. RIM Launches BlackBerry 10 Ready Program

With the BlackBerry 10 launch just around the corner, RIM is pitching in a new program for its enterprise customers. Called BlackBerry 10 Ready, the program aims to woo business customers into trying BlackBerry 10 by offering a free BlackBerry 10 smartphone on top of a free online training. RIM is even offering an option to trade up existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server licenses in exchange for its new BlackBerry 10 OS. This means that companies with BES licenses can make the switch to BlackBerry 10 on a one for one basis for free.

“Starting in January 2013 through to December 31, 2013, Research In Motion (RIM) will be offering customers who purchase new BlackBerry 0 smartphones, the ability to trade up their existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server licenses on a one for one basis for free. The new license trade up will allow customers to secure and manage their BlackBerry 10 smartphones. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server License Trade Up online tool will be available in January 2013, and will be subject to customers accepting the terms of the Trade Up,” RIM said.
