RIM and T-Mobile announce the BlackBerry Curve 9315

While RIM is gearing up to launch BlackBerry 10 at the end of the month, the company is still hard at work launching other phones in the meantime. Case in point, the company officially announced the BlackBerry Curve 9315 on T-Mobile’s network. It’s not a high-end device by any means, but it’s only $49 plus $10 per month for the Equipment Installment Plan.

The phone features a 3.2 MP camera, microSD memory card expansion and a full, physical QWERTY keyboard. RIM will launch on January 23, just seven days before the company unveils its first BlackBerry 10 phones. Pre-sales for the Curve 9315 begin on January 16, and the phone will be priced at $49 on top of a 20-month Equipment Installment Plan for $10 per month.

In case you were curious, the Curve 9315 runs off of BlackBerry 7.1 and includes 3G connectivity as well as a built-in FM radio. The phone itself isn’t anything new, since it looks like a classic BlackBerry device, but either way, those on T-Mobile wanting to get a cheap BlackBerry device now have a reason to do so.

RIM is set to launch BlackBerry 10 on January 30, and have a handful of devices ready to unleash. We’ve already taken a peek at some of the handsets thanks to a few leaked shots, so we already have an idea of what to expect, but nonetheless, we’ll be excited to see what RIM’s new operating system has to offer.

Verizon announces BlackBerry Curve 9310, available July 12th

RIM may not be having the best of times, but it’s still continuing to pump out handsets. Today the company announced the launch of the BlackBerry Curve 9310 in conjunction with Verizon, with the phone running BlackBerry 7.1 as well as featuring a dedicated BBM key for serious messaging addicts. Verizon and RIM are pitching the phone as a social solution, making sure to point out that Facebook and Twitter apps are front and center.

The 2.44-inch QVGA display is matched with a 3.2-megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM, an a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of storage. WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth are all onboard, and some software tweaks have been added too. VZ Navigator will give customers audible turn-by-turn navigation, while parental controls will stop teens from sexting the night away.

Verizon is offering the Curve 9310 for $99.99, although you can drop that down to $49.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate. The monthly price will be on the high side though. If you’re a customer needing unlimited texting and messaging plus 300MB of data, you’ll have to cough up $80 per month. Still, if it sounds like your next phone, you’ll be able to pick it up on July 12th.

Boost Mobile takes BlackBerry Curve 9310 to the US, spices it up with $30 unlimited BBM, voice and text plan

RIM gave the impression when it unveiled the BlackBerry Curve 9320 and 9220 that its lowest-cost Curves were doubtful prospects for the US. Thankfully, that’s been proven wrong by Boost Mobile, which just launched the 9320’s CDMA cousin, the Curve 9310. The message-manic BlackBerry comes to Sprint’s prepaid network with its BBM key intact as well as BlackBerry 7.1, a 3.2-megapixel camera and that all-important low price: at $100 contract-free, it’s one of the cheapest ways to leap into smartphones in the US. To top it off, Boost is throwing in a very tantalizing BBM Unlimited plan. The deal offers unlimited calling, text messaging and (naturally) BBM; although it starts at $45 per month, it gradually dips down to a very reasonable $30 per month if owners pay their bills properly for six months. Both the Curve 9310 and its companion plan will be available July 10th, giving us time to find the needed spare change under our couch cushions.
