BlackBerry Q10 Releasing On April 30th In Canada [Rumor]

BlackBerry Q10 Releasing On April 30th In Canada [Rumor]

Over the past couple of months there has been a lot of speculation about the release date of BlackBerry Q10. The new BlackBerry 10 devices were announced by the ailing Canadian manufacturer back in January. The Z10 became immediately available in UK and Canada after launch, though the company did not reveal when exactly it would starting shipping Q10. A new rumor suggests that the device will begin shipping on the 30th of April in Canada, the rumor is based on an allegedly leaked memo from Rogers, a major Canadian carrier.

The BlackBerry Q10 is similar to the Z10, major difference being the full QWERTY keyboard that is much loved by BlackBerry enthusiasts. The internal specifications are the same, though the Q10 does come with a bigger 2,100 mAh battery as opposed to the Z10′s 1,800 mAh battery. The internal memo pictured above clearly shows that Rogers will release Q10 on April 30. As of now it is presumed that all other Canadian carriers will release the device on this very same day. No word as yet on when the Q10 will be coming over to the U.S.

BlackBerry Q10 Headed To Canada In Coming Weeks

With the recent release of the BlackBerry Z10 in the U.S., the only other BlackBerry 10 device that is waiting to be released is the BlackBerry Q10. If you’ve been holding out for BlackBerry’s first physical-keyboard equipped BlackBerry 10 device, you might have had to do your shopping in the U.K. as that’s where we spotted the BlackBerry Q10 was available for pre-order. But if you would rather spend your hard-earned money in North America, it looks like you’ll be able to pick up the Q10 from Canada.

The BlackBerry Q10 will be available on Rogers, which is Canada’s largest mobile carrier, for C$199.99 (or $197 USD) when customers sign up for a three-year contract. There’s no word as to when the Q10 will be available for sale in Canada, but Rogers said it would be arriving in the “coming weeks.” (more…)

BlackBerry Q10 reportedly arriving April 30 in Canada

The BlackBerry Z10, the company’s flagship handset, as been out on the market for a while in Canada, but those wanting to get their hands on some QWERTY goodness will have to wait a while longer, as it’s reported that the BlackBerry Q10 won’t hit Canadian stores until April 30, while an expected launch date for other countries is still up in the air.

MobileSyrup obtained an internal document that states that Canadian wireless carrier Rogers, as well as all other Canadian carriers most likely, will launch the Q10 on April 30. However, pricing and color choices have yet to be leaked. The internal document also reveals that Rogers will be launching the entry-level Nokia Lumia 520.

The Q10 was officially announced back in late January, along with the announcement of the BlackBerry Z10 and the new BlackBerry 10 operating system. It’s certainly not as popular as the company’s flagship Z10, but it sports a hybrid design of sorts, including both a touchscreen and a physical QWERTY keyboard for business road warriors.

The BlackBerry Q10 isn’t anything to write home about, but it comes with some respectable internal hardware. It’s running a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM, as well as 16GB of internal storage. It comes with a 3.1-inch display with a resolution of 720×720, an 8MP camera that shoots 1080p HD videos, and a 2100mAh battery powering the whole thing.

Chinese Government Rumored To Have Placed 2 Million Blackberry Q10 Orders

Chinese Government Rumored To Have Placed 2 Million Blackberry Q10 OrdersBlackberry is definitely betting the bank when it comes to Blackberry 10 and its accompanying devices, the Z10 and the Q10, two known Blackberry 10 devices. However will both devices sell the way Blackberry intends? Well according to Stockhouse.com, they are claiming that according to the rumors, it seems the Blackberry’s yet-to-be-released Q10 has managed to land itself 2 million pre-orders from none other than the Chinese government!

The Chinese Bureau of Economic and Cultural Development has signed an intent to purchase 2 million Blackberry Q10 handsets according to filials with FYD Enterprises in Macau.

FYD (Fugyudum) Enterprises owns and operates a chain of for-profit educational faculties in nearby Guangdong and Yudumtu provinces as part of the mainland government’s recent economic liberalization initiatives in specified zones within these 2 provinces.

A source close to the company says the Q10′s will be distributed to the Faculties of Mobile Hacking and Cyber Warfare.

We know that previously, Blackberry devices were well-known and widely accepted by governments and enterprises due to their security as well as the ability for IT managers to remotely monitor information passing through and from the devices. However as mobile technology has become more advanced, iOS and Android have slowly started replacing Blackberry devices at work and government offices. While this is a rumor, if true it would certain be great news for Blackberry.

Blackberry Q10 Goes Up For Pre-Order In The UK

Blackberry Q10 Goes Up For Pre Order In The UKWe had previously reported that the Blackberry Q10 was supposedly being tested by over 40 carriers in 20 countries, and while a US release date has yet to be confirmed apart from its vague time frame, those in the UK can now pre-order the device. The phone will be available via Carphone Warehouse and will cost £579.95 unlocked, and will also be available on UK carriers Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, EE and TalkMobile. If the unlocked price is a bit too expensive for your tastes, the Q10 will be free although you will need to sign a 2-year contract and be expected to pay £36 a month. Shipping date for the Blackberry Q10 has also been listed as before the end of April, so hopefully a release date for US customers will be announced soon.

Blackberry Q10 Currently Being Tested By 40 Carriers In 20 Countries

Blackberry Q10 Currently Being Tested By 40 Carriers In 20 CountriesThe Blackberry Q10 has yet to be released, but it seems that Blackberry has no plans to slow things down. According to Blackberry’s CEO, Thorsten Heins, during the company’s Q4 FY2013 earnings call, he revealed that the Blackberry Q10 is currently being tested by 40 carriers in 20 countries, suggesting that when the device is released, we can expect Blackberry to cover as much ground as possible. No word on when the Q10 will see a release, but the end of April seems to be the general consensus. We expect that more traditional Blackberry customers might be more interested in the Q10 over the Z10, especially given the familiar QWERTY physical keyboard layout that seems to be a hark back to the good old days of devices like the Bold 9900 and so on. The Q10 will be running on Blackberry 10, and just like the Z10, it will support Android app ports as well, meaning that would-be customers will not have to worry about the shortage of apps.

Blackberry Q10 Will Support Android App Ports As Well

Blackberry Q10 Will Support Android App Ports As Well

The Blackberry Z10 was launched with tens of thousands of apps, some were designed for the Z10 specifically, while some were Android ports, which is not a bad thing since the Google Play store has more than their share of decent apps. Now if you were worried that maybe Blackberry’s upcoming Q10 might not have the same support, thanks to its QWERTY keyboard layout, fret not as Blackberry has announced that the Q10 will be receiving Android app support as well.

This was announced on Blackberry’s developer blog where they stated that not only could developers port Android apps onto the Q10, but existing ports for devices like the Z10 and Playbook can also be brought onto the Q10 as well. Thanks to the Blackberry Runtime for Android apps, apps will be scaled automatically to fit the screen of the device it’s running on, although considering that the Q10 has a different display compared to the Z10 and regular full touchscreen phones, Blackberry noted it was best to config the app to make it an optimized fit.

UK Retailer Prices BlackBerry Q10 At $800; Available April 26

UK Retailer Prices BlackBerry Q10 At $800; Available April 26

Ever since we got our hands on the BlackBerry Q10 back in late-January, we’ve been hearing many of you begging to hear more about the device as BlackBerry traditionalists have been looking forward to a BlackBerry 10 experience with the physical keyboard they’ve come to know and love for years. Up until today, we’ve only heard from US carriers saying when they expect have have the Q10 available, but no official announcements have been made.

With an expected US release of possibly in May or June, the UK is expected to receive their BlackBerry Q10s a tad earlier as Unlocked-Mobiles has listed a SIM-free Q10 for £529.98 (around $800) to be available on April 26. That’s around the same price we saw the BlackBerry Z10 launch in India for last month. (more…)

White Blackberry Q10 Caught On Video In India, Looks Pretty Good

If Blackberry’s full touchscreen smartphone, the Z10 wasn’t what you wanted and you wanted something a little familiar, chances are you are waiting for Blackberry to release the Q10. For those unfamiliar, the Q10 is a Blackberry 10 device with a familiar QWERTY keyboard layout and it should be released sometime later in April/May. Now if that sounds like what you’re after, then you might be interested to learn that the Q10 will be available in both black and white, with the black version looking pretty standard while the white version looks pretty darn striking.

The white version of the Q10 was caught on video in India during the launch of the Z10 and attendees of the event managed to get a chance to play with the device. We have to say it looks pretty good, although we admit we’re a bit worried about the white fading thanks to grime and stains, but what do you guys think? Which color will you be getting when the Q10 launches?

T-Mobile To Offer Blackberry Q10 In May

T Mobile To Offer Blackberry Q10 In MayT-Mobile will be launching the Blackberry Z10 for business users come 11th of March, and regular customers should be able to get their hands on it on the 27th. While the full touchscreen design of the Z10 is certainly a refreshing touch, we’re sure that there are some Blackberry users who would prefer the comfort and familiarity of a physical QWERTY keyboard, which for Blackberry 10 devices would mean the Q10. Now the good news is that according to the folks at N4BB, they confirmed with a T-Mobile rep that they will be launching the Q10 sometime in May. No specific dates were mentioned, so we will keep an eye out for that.

This comes after a certain report by Cannacord analyst Mike Walkley who claimed that T-Mobile will only launch the Z10, just like Sprint, who will only launch the Q10. Naturally we were just as surprised to hear this, but we guess Walkley either spoke in error or got his facts wrong, so hopefully this will help clear up the misunderstanding.
