BlackBerry Q20 Will Not Be Making An Early Appearance

BlackBerry Q20 Will Not Be Making An Early AppearanceDuring MWC 2014, BlackBerry announced two handsets, the BlackBerry Z3 and the BlackBerry Q20. If anything, the BlackBerry Z3 sounds like a more modern handset with full touchscreen capabilities, while the BlackBerry Q20 reminded us more of the Bold 9900 rather than the BlackBerry Q10.

However we’re basing this on what BlackBerry’s CEO, John Chen, said about the device, like how it would come with an integrated trackpad and feature a tool belt of hardware buttons alongside a QWERTY keyboard. This is compared to the Q10 which did away with the trackpad and tool belt of buttons and only kept the QWERTY keyboard. (more…)

BlackBerry Q20 Could See September/October Release

BlackBerry Q20 Could See September/October ReleaseDuring MWC 2014, BlackBerry announced two new devices – the BlackBerry Z3 which would be headed to Indonesia and was the result of BlackBerry’s partnership with Foxconn, and the BlackBerry Q20 which is a BlackBerry phone with a physical keyboard and integrated trackpad, a hark back to the glory days of the Canadian company.

Unfortunately not much was known about the Q20 besides its integrated trackpad design, meaning that in terms of availability, hardware specifications, design, and price, we’re pretty much left in the dark for now. (more…)

BlackBerry Q20 smartphone arriving in due time

bb-q10When we talk about BlackBerry devices, what comes across your mind first? Surely the initial image that has been “burned” permanently into our collective consciousness would be that of a small display device that has a QWERTY keyboard, where it has been the industry standard for a mobile device keyboard for years. Well, BlackBerry might have fallen on hard times recently, but this does not mean that they are all out of ideas. No sir, it seems that the new BlackBerry Q20 flagship smartphone will come with the familiar and classic ‘Menu’, ‘Back’, ‘Send’ and ‘End’ buttons alongside an integrated trackpad, so that one will be able to enjoy fast and efficient navigation with but a single hand.

QWERTY loving customers would definitely welcome the one-handed use capability of the BlackBerry Q20, that’s for sure. Among the key features of the new and upcoming BlackBerry Q20 smartphone would include BlackBerry’s patented QWERTY keyboard design complete with frets and sculpted keys which will hopefully, be able to deliver the very best typing experience on a mobile device. I suppose there is a certain level of “unlearning” that needs to be done if one is already so used to touch typing on a virtual keyboard, or using software such as Swype for an intelligent virtual keyboard.

Apart from that, the email service will also include features such as BlackBerry Hub, where one is able to access the entire slew of messages in one place, and enterprise connectivity with BES10. Other hardware specifications of the upcoming BlackBerry Q20 smartphone include a generous 3.5” touchscreen display, which is the largest display to date on a QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone and a large battery. It will arrive in the second half of this year, with pricing details yet to be revealed. What you see above is the BlackBerry Q10 for reference’s sake.

Expect More BlackBerry Q20 “Classic” Handsets Down The Road

Expect More BlackBerry Q20 Classic Handsets Down The RoadEarlier at MWC 2014 in the week, BlackBerry announced a couple of new handsets, one of them was the interesting sounding BlackBerry Q20, which based on what we know so far, sounds like BlackBerry is trying to revive the glory days, and to be honest it the handset sounds very much like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 with BlackBerry 10 running on it.

That being said, it sounds like BlackBerry might be taking a step back rather than moving forward, and it seems that there will be more “classic” handsets like the BlackBerry Q20 that we might be able to expect in the future. This is according to the folks at CrackBerry who interviewed BlackBerry’s VP of Global Product Management, Francois Mahieu. (more…)

BlackBerry Q20 Will Be Compatible With Q5 & Q10 Apps

BlackBerry Q20 Will Be Compatible With Q5 & Q10 AppsJust yesterday BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry Q20. A full list of hardware specifications was not revealed, nor its design, but according to BlackBerry, it would sport a 3.5-inch display and would feature the familiar “tool belt” of physical buttons above the keyboard which would also include a trackpad.

Given that other BlackBerry Q-series handsets, like the BlackBerry Q5 and the BlackBerry Q10 do not feature that tool belt of keys, how will apps interact with the upcoming Q20? Well the good news is that all apps built for either the Q5 or Q10 will be compatible with the Q20, according to the BlackBerry developer blog. (more…)

BlackBerry Q20 Announced With Integrated Trackpad

BlackBerry Q20 Announced With Integrated TrackpadOne of the more unique features of older BlackBerry devices like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is that it came with a track embedded into the center button. It was a clever design as it allowed users to quickly scroll through websites, photos, messages, and emails at a flick of their finger/thumb, almost like how you would scroll on a touchscreen phone.

According to the rumors, BlackBerry would be reintroducing the trackpad and sure enough they have. The Canadian company has recently announced the BlackBerry Q20, an upcoming smartphone that will feature the “tool belt”, which is basically a row of buttons and the trackpad positioned above the keyboard on the phone.
