If you live in the blizzard-ridden United States, you might be looking out your window at a harsh, desolate, snowy wasteland. Cars in the middle of the street. Frosty despair. But you’re also hungry. Here’s how to order in, guilt-free. More »
Here it is. They can’t stop laughing at New Yorkers in Minnesota, where they have these “snowmagedons” every other day during winter—but show this picture from NOAA’s GOES-13 satellite to the former, and we will run away, screaming and looting supermarkets: More »

That Blizzard Emergency Warning Text That Just Scared The Bejeezus Out of You
Posted in: Today's Chili Apparently, some kind of weather catastrophe is on its way to the NE. I was vaguely aware that we would be getting a winter storm of some kind. Several inches of snow, a foot perhaps. But now I’m scared into a frenzy. Good! That means the system works! More »
If you cannot get enough of StarCraft 2, then here is something from Blizzard which is ideal to help you end the evening – the opening cinematic of StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm has just been posted, and you know something? I am quite sure that a StarCraft movie would be pretty much well received, considering the huge fanbase that the game has amassed over the years, being a tour de force where gaming phenomenon is concerned.
Well, we do know that StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm is on track for a March 12 release on the PC platform, and chances are very high that this will make its fair share of waves throughout the electronic sports world. Just what kind of new missions do you think will be in store for gamers in StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm? A very confused Sarah Kerrigan plays a major role in the opening cinematic, and I will leave it to you. Just remember to wipe off the drool at the end and pick up your jaw. I find it rather interesting though, that Kerrigan maintains her sense of style when she is the Queen of Blades, with organic looking high heels and all.

So we know that the dueling feature will be introduced to Diablo 3 in Patch 1.0.7, and the good news is that Blizzard has announced that Patch 1.0.7 is now live on the PTR (Public Test Realm), so players interested in checking it out should head on over to Blizzard’s website to find out how to participate in it. In the meantime considering that Patch 1.0.7 is a pretty big one, the developer has released the Patch 1.0.7 patch notes, giving players a more or less complete rundown of what sort of changes, improvements, balancing and etc. that they might be able to expect once the patch goes live.
Once again the dueling feature is probably the highlight of it, but for players who are still farming for gear, there are some changes Blizzard made to the Monster Power feature, such as increasing its experience gains for players in Inferno mode. Blizzard has noted that this isn’t the final version of the 1.0.7 notes and it will be subject to change, which is why it’s currently being trialed on the PTR. No word on when the patch will go live, but assuming if it runs without a hitch, hopefully players won’t have to wait too long before updating!

Good news Diablo 3 gamers! If you’ve been looking forward to the promised PvP feature originally announced for Diablo 3, you’re in luck as com Patch 1.0.7, you will be getting a small taste of PvP. According to the official Diablo blog post, one of the highlights of Patch 1.0.7 would be the introduction of Dueling, which will allow players to duke it out against each other in a safe environment, i.e. no monsters to interrupt your battle. The duel will take place in a new PvP zone called the Scorched Chapel, and within it are four different areas that players can fight in.
At the moment it seems that dueling will support a four play FFA mode, three player FFA or one on one depending on your preference, which means that teaming up for PvP is still missing. For more hardcore players looking forward to the arena-styled PvP, we guess that feature has yet to be implemented as dueling will not be scored and there will not be any rewards from wins. According to Blizzard, “We wanted dueling to be as simple and straightforward as possible.” No word on when Patch 1.0.7 will be released, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for when it does.

Changzhou is home to the Tianning Temple. It’s also the home to numerous parks, such as the China Dinosaur Park, the CC Joyland amusement park, and the Hong Mei park. But the prefectural-level city is upping the ante by installing a World of Warcraft theme-park that is unlicensed by WoW developer Blizzard Entertainment. Reddit user Francesca was generous enough to post images of her visit to the park over the weekend, and you can check out all her surreal photos here. (more…)

I guess if you are one of those who were looking forward in anticipation of the free Team Deathmatch update for Diablo 3, you would be disappointed to hear that Blizzard has shelved this free update, citing issues with “depth” and “balance” being the main reasons. The lack of “depth” to the system as well as the team’s unwillingness and inability to “balance” the different classes in PvP (Player vs Player) would mean the entire Blizzard team will have to return to the drawing board. Fret not though, all hope is not yet lost as there is a free PvP patch being planned, but it certainly will not be in the form of Team Deathmatch, and to have it roll out soon is far from the agenda for sure.
Jay Wilson said, “So, our core problem is that our Team Deathmatch mode doesn’t feel like a great addition to Diablo III. It’s not up to the quality that Blizzard gamers expect or that we feel you deserve, and it doesn’t really fit with our goals for the rest of the game.” Are you disappointed and deflated with this announcement?

We’ve heard a number of complaints about Diablo III over the last few months, and the lack of a PvP mode seems to be one of the most common. Blizzard was touting Diablo III‘s PvP mode long before the game even released, but we’re now seven months out from launch and there’s no PvP mode to speak of. It seems like there won’t be one for some time yet either, as Diablo III lead designer Jay Wilson said that the team is starting over on the game’s Team Deathmatch mode.
One of the reasons Blizzard is “going back to the drawing board” with Team Deathmatch is due to the mode’s lack of depth. Wilson admits that the mode gets boring pretty quickly when there aren’t any objectives outside of hitting your opponents with the biggest weapon you can find, so the team will attempt to flesh out the mode with more features in this second attempt.
Team Deathmatch as it existed at Blizzard also wasn’t going work because of issues will class balance. A big problem is that Diablo III is a PvE game before anything else, and since Blizzard wanted to bring over as many skills, items, and abilities as it could while changing as little as possible, it put too much of a focus on class balance. While Wilson said this is okay for games like World of Warcraft, it wasn’t the kind of focus the studio wanted to put on Diablo III.
So, it sounds like Team Deathmatch won’t be arriving for quite some time. If you absolutely can’t wait for PvP in Diablo III, you’re in luck, because Wilson closes his post by saying that dueling will be going live in the game with update 1.0.7, which is due sometime early next year. Blizzard will be sharing more details on the dueling update soon, so we’ll be keeping an ear to ground for those.
