Earlier last year, Blizzard announced a new free-to-play virtual trading card game called Hearthstone, a game which would be based on its Warcraft franchise. The game has been undergoing closed beta for quite a while now but the good news for those wondering what all the fuss is about and want to get in on the action, Blizzard has officially announced the Hearthstone is now in open beta, meaning that if you’re interested in giving the game a go, you can hit up the Hearthstone official website for the download of the game. According to Blizzard, despite this being an open beta, they have no plans on performing any more wipes, so whatever you collect now will stay with you all the way to the end.

As it stands the open beta is limited to the North American region although Blizzard did state that they will be opening up the beta to other regions within the next few days or so, so if you’d rather not play in the North American region, be sure to keep an eye out for more region availability later on. The open beta is not expected to be unlimited as Blizzard did state that they will be monitoring their servers and if things start to get busier than they’d like, beta activations will have to be temporarily disabled. At the moment the game will be available on both PC and Mac, although mobile versions are expected to be released later.

World of Warcraft gamers, if you’re playing in a server that is particularly crowded, you’re in luck because Blizzard has announced that they will be providing free character transfers from high traffic servers into lower traffic servers for free. According to a post in the forums, this offer is expected to begin this week and will be good for about a week, or until the servers fill up, whichever comes first. As it stands Blizzard has announced that the serves eligible for the free migration includes Area 52 and Stormrage which will be migrated to the Turalyon server; Tichondrius and Illidan to the Blackrock servers; Bleeding Hollow and Darkspear to the Korgath servers.

However it seems that there is an issue with the character transfers at the moment which Blizzard has noted and stated that they are investigating the issue. We expect that it will not take long for them to get it under control so you can keep trying until you get through. Blizzard announces free migration every once in a while to help offload the traffic from more popular servers. This is good for gamers who don’t like to wait in queue in order to play the game, and for achievement-based players, moving to a newer and lower populated server is a great way to nab those “World first” achievements as well.

World of Warcraft gamers and other MMORPG players are subject to hacks and exploits that attempt to steal their user names and passwords, after which the hackers will either rob the character of all their gold, or maybe even sell it off. For those of you guys out there who are still playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard has recently identified a new malware that poses as a client for a popular World of Warcraft add-on site. The malware, which is a trojan horse, looks and functions exactly the same as the Curse Client (in which gamers use to download World of Warcraft add-ons and tweaks).

In fact when attempting to search for “curse client”, a listing of the fake website pops up and will look exactly the same as the official one, so for those who weren’t paying attention, you might have inadvertently downloaded a malware onto your computer. Blizzard suggests that those who have downloaded the client to delete it and perform a scan on their computer to ensure that there are no traces of it left, using programs such as Malwarebytes. Blizzard has also provided instructions to those who might have been infected as well. Either way for those who are downloading the Curse Client for the first time, do double check to make sure it is from the official site based on its URL, and not just how it looks!

The World of Warcraft movie is expected to begin filming early next year, and last we heard, it was rumored that Colin Farrell and Paul Patton could be starring in the movie. Well it turns out the rumor was half right as the cast (or at least part of it) for the movie has been revealed. This is according to Universal Pictures who confirmed that they have managed to close deals with Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, and Dominic Cooper. As it stands that leaves other actors, such as Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Anton Yelchin, and Anson Mount, as rumored but not confirmed, but for now the abovementioned list are in.

For the most part these actors are famous in their own right, but they aren’t necessarily considered to be big names in the movie industry, as in they might not have the same amount of fame or recognition compared to mentioning a name such as George Clooney, or Brad Pitt, for example. This is admittedly is a good thing since big name actors usually have an image or style associated with them which could work against them when filming for a movie such as World of Warcraft, a franchise which has its own rich history and loyal following and where its characters have been years in development. The World of Warcraft movie is expected to be released on the 11^th of March 2016. The movie has been delayed from its original release date of the 18^th of December 2015 due to conflicts with the Star Wars: Episode VII movie. So are you happy with the cast list so far?
