BLU announces their latest VIVO smartphone, the BLU VIVO 4.8 HD

bluvivoHave you heard of BLU Products before? They happen to be one of the fastest growing mobile phone manufacturers in the world, and in their latest announcement, we have a spanking new smartphone to check out which will also come with a world class Super AMOLED display. The device in question would be the BLU VIVO 4.8 HD, where it will make use of a stunning slim unibody design that measures all of just 6.9mm, which makes it the thinnest device in the market that will feature a 4.8” or larger AMOLED display.

What can one find underneath the hood of the BLU VIVO 4.8 HD? For starters, you will have a quad-core 1.5GHz processor that runs proceedings from within to make sure that everything is a smooth as possible, while a 4G 42Mbps HSPA+ modem would ensure that you will not lack anything on the mobile data side of things, assuming you’re hooked up to a decent 4G provider, that is. The BLU VIVO 4.8 HD has been specially designed to enhance the lifestyle of mobile phone users, where 1GB RAM will be complemented by 16GB of internal memory.

If you are one who uses your smartphone as a substitute for your digital camera, then the BLU VIVO 4.8 HD would certainly be able to deliver courtesy of its advanced 8MP autofocus camera that has a second generation back-side illumination and Full HD 1080p Video Recording capability. On the front side of things, a 5MP shooter is there to cater for decent selfie shots in addition to supporting video calls.

Those who are interested in the BLU VIVO 4.8 HD will be able to pick it up in Matte Black, Ceramic White, Electric Neon Yellow, and Glimmer Pink shades, where it will retail for $249 a pop unlocked, running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice.

BLU Life Pure Smartphone Unveiled

BLU Life Pure Smartphone UnveiledBLU is a company that we have covered in the past, and while they might not be the most well-known smartphone manufacturer around, they do produce some decent handsets at decent prices. We have recently seen the company announce two new phones in the form of the BLU Advance 4.0 and Studio 5.0, but it looks like the company is not done and has recently announced the BLU Life Pure smartphone that will feature more powerful specs compared to its previous announcement, along with a design that appears to be pretty sleek and clean that we’re sure many will appreciate.

According to the company, the “new BLU LIFE PURE focuses on gorgeous design and beautiful software, appealing to users who wish to own a piece of modern art, without sacrificing their desire for the latest technology available in a smartphone.” Also like we said, unlike BLU’s previous offerings, the Life Pure looks to be a pretty decent handset. For those who are wondering what the Life Pure packs under the hood, you guys can look forward to a 5” Full HD display with a PPI of 441. The handset will be powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6589T chipset clocked at 1.5GHz and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a 13MP camera with BSI, and a 5MP front-facing camera.

The BLU Life Pure will also come with a 2,000mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth, and will be priced at a rather affordable $349, although at this point in time it is unknown when the handset will be launched.

BLU Advance 4.0 And BLU Studio 5.0 Smartphones Unveiled

BLU Advance 4.0 And BLU Studio 5.0 Smartphones UnveiledWe have seen our fair share of smartphones that hail from BLU in the past, and this time around, here are a couple more devices that you might just want to check out if you want a highly affordable Android-powered device that does not really skimp on the hardware specifications – and they are the BLU Advance 4.0 and BLU Studio 5.0. BLU has been in the US for some time already, selling highly affordable off-contract Android-powered handsets, and these would certainly make the already cheap Motorola Moto G look expensive, relatively speaking. Of course, BLU’s offerings will not be as technologically on par with Motorola’s, but hey, you get what you pay for.

The $139 BLU Studio 5.0 II will come with a 5” 480 x 854 pixel IPS display, a MediaTek MT6572 ARM Cortex-A7 dual-core processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 5MP camera at the back and a VGA front-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot.

As for the BLU Advance 4.0, it will cost just $89, sporting a similar processor, wireless capabilities, memory and storage as the Studio 5.0, except that it has a smaller TFT display at 4” at 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Both of these smartphones will arrive in either black or white colors, just in case you were wondering.

The $299 Blu Life Pro is aimed at the selfie set with a 5-megapixel front cam

LIFE PRO by BLU. (PRNewsFoto/BLU Products)

When we first spotted the decently spec’d Blu Life series, it seemed like a nice Android handset option for folks on a budget. However, the times they have a-changed, and the former KIRF company’s latest device, the Blu Life Pro, is now looking decidedly less cheap. Spec-wise, it’s packing a 720P screen, quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek CPU, Android 4.2, HSPA+ 3G, 1GB RAM, 16GB of memory and a 12-megapixel BSI camera with 1080p video. At $299, it’ll have to go up against plenty of similarly-priced and technologically superior rivals, but the one feature that distinguishes the Blu from the rest is its 5-megapixel, 1080p front-facing camera with a BSI sensor. Nevertheless, given the option between this and a much cheaper 720p phone like the spiffy Moto G, our vanity probably does know some bounds.

BLU Products launches trio of Dash smartphones starting at $49

BLU Products launches trio of new Dash smartphones starting at $49

Too thrifty to buy a $199 Nexus 4, or even a $99 Lumia 520? BLU Products has you covered with three new smartphones in its Dash range. The line starts with the Dash Jr., a 3.5-inch dual-SIM phone that costs just $49 unlocked — cheap enough that we (almost) don’t mind its single-core Spreadtrum processor, 2G-only data, 2-megapixel camera and Android 2.3. If you can afford to splurge, the Dash Music 4.0 ($99) and Dash 5.0 ($129) jump to their namesake larger screens, 3G data, dual-core MediaTek chips, higher-resolution cameras and Android 4.2. BLU expects all three Dash handsets to ship before the end of September, so penny pinchers won’t have long to wait. Check out press shots of the Dash Music 4.0 and Dash 5.0 after the break.

    BLU Life View hands-on

DNP BLU Products Life View handson

Looking for a smartphone with a large display, decent specs and a price tag just shy of $300 unlocked and contract-free? It’s not an easy thing to find here in the US of A, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. In fact, a little-known manufacturer out of Miami known as BLU is doing its darndest to get on the map and show off its brute handset-making skills at a reasonable cost. It’s been a big player in the KIRF arena for quite some time, but its latest lineup of phones — Life — appears to have a bit of personality of its own. Of the devices in the Life series, we’ve received an early unit of the Life View, a 5.7-inch Android model, from our friends at Negri Electronics, an online retailer that recently began selling the device for $299. Take a closer look at our gallery of images below and then follow us after the break for a few impressions.

BLU Dash 4.5 offers quad-core Android 4.2 action for $139 unsubsidized

BLU Dash 45 offers quadcore Android 42 action and a 5MP camera for $139

Cheap smartphones are getting more common, but the BLU Dash 4.5 is redefining the term budget. For $139, unlocked and unsubsidized, you can own an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean handset with a 1.2GHz quad-core chip from MediaTek, 512MB of RAM, 5-megapixel camera, 4.5-inch 854 x 480 pixel display and 21Mbps HSPA+ support for both AT&T and T-Mobile. Though it’s not the thinnest device in the world at 11.9mm (0.47 inches) thick, we’re willing to ignore that given the price tag. It’s $10 cheaper than our current favorite budget smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 520, and you can buy it from online retailers today. We’ve found an unboxing video in Spanish — if you’re interested, it’s just after the break.

BLU Products to use stock Android from now on, gives Vivo 4.3 new colors and Jelly Bean

BLU Products to use stock Android from now on, ships Vivo 43 in new colors

BLU Products most often draws attention by launching a smorgasbord of new phones. Today, the company is more interested in rethinking the devices it already has. Starting with a just-launced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Vivo 4.3, the company is moving to stock Android for every new device and firmware upgrade in the hopes of improving battery life and streamlining the interface — a distinct break from the growing trend toward hyper-customized experiences. Whether or not vanilla Android is your bag, the Vivo 4.3 is also receiving a minor hardware update through new colors. Pink, yellow and white variants of the dual SIM phone are now shipping from Amazon and other retailers for $229 each. Although we’d most like to see a full-fledged sequel to the older phone, we can’t object too much to a spring tune-up.

BLU Life Series phones include quad-core CPU, Android 4.2, start at $229 unlocked

Blu Life Series phones include quadcore CPU, Android 42, start at $229 unlocked

Coming this April, BLU Products will have three new smartphones vying for your hard-earned dollar. The trio of dual-SIM handsets, known as the Life View, Life One and Life Play, will be sold unlocked on Amazon and will range in price between $229 and $299. As a nice touch, Android 4.2 will be common among the bunch, as will backside-illuminated sensors on the cameras and the quad-core, 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 (Cortex A7) SoC. Likewise, each smartphone will also feature an HD IPS display.

The Life View ($299), the largest of the bunch, includes a massive 5.7-inch display, a 12-megapixel rear / 5-megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and a 2,600mAh battery. Meanwhile, the more reasonably sized Life One ($299) includes a 5-inch display, a 13-megapixel rear / 5-megapixel front camera, similar storage specs and a 2,000mAh battery. Lastly, the sleekest of the three, the Life Play ($229), includes a 4.7-inch display and measures 7.9mm thick. Here, you can expect to find an 8-megapixel rear / 2-megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of expandable storage and an 1,800mAh battery. You’ll find the band support for each of the three phones in the PR after the break, but needless to say, you’ll be safe on AT&T (and in many areas, T-Mobile).
