Buffalo is gearing up to launch their newest external Blu-ray writer, the BRXL-16U3. Claimed as the industry’s fastest Blu-ray writer, the BRXL-16U3 is equipped with a USB 3.0 connection interface, 3D Blu-ray and BDXL support and capable of providing write speeds of up to 16x for BD-R. Pioneer today introduced two new Blu-ray writer drives that are capable of writing 100GB Blu-ray XL discs at a speed of 4x CLV maximum. Dubbed as the BDR-PR1M and BDR-PR1MA, both Blu-ray players support up to 4x write for all BD discs, 6x for DVD and 16x for CD. Their main difference is that the BDR-PR1M can be used to check the quality of a recorded disc, right after burning. The Pioneer BDR-PR1M and BDR-PR1MA will be released in November 2012 in Japan for about 220,000 Yen ($2,832) and 110 000 Yen ($1,416), respectively. [techPowerUp]
