Blu-ray Player Hacked To Be Salmonella Detector

Blu ray Player Hacked To Be Salmonella DetectorThe Blu-ray disc player has certainly gone through quite an adventure so far, having managed to fend off its main rival format, HD DVD, while slowly but surely making itself a constant presence in our living rooms despite the existence of DVDs. It is also interesting to take note that the humble Blu-ray disc player has been specially hacked that would transform it into a highly affordable salmonella detector. This is made possible thanks to a bunch of medical researchers in Spain.

Music Albums To Arrive In Blu-Ray Format Soon

Music Albums To Arrive In Blu Ray Format SoonMusic has definitely come a long way, especially in the format or media in which it is presented. Back in the days of our grandparents, they had this thing called vinyl records, and along the way, cassette tapes came and made a difference. Of course, we have sinced moved on to digital audio thanks to the introduction of CDs, and MP3s saw the explosion of mobile music regardless of the country that you reside in. Record companies claim that their industry is in a decline, and right now they have the intention of tempting fans away from the MP3 format through the release of albums in a crystal-clear Blu-Ray format.

Among the first few records to be released in this Blu-Ray format will be songs sung by those who have already passed on, including Nirvana’s Nevermind and Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black albums as they debut in the UK later this month. Needless to say, you will need a Blu-Ray player as well as a stereo system (a PS3 will do nicely for the former) in order to play the discs, where there has been a promise attached to deliver “the sound as it was intended by the artist”. Do you think that Blu-Ray music albums will be able to arrest the slide in the physical media aspect of the music industry?

Xbox One installs discs to the HDD, friends list capped at 1,000

The Xbox One’s 50GB Blu-ray discs will automatically rip to your 500GB hard drive, Microsoft tells us, and it looks like you won’t have to wait til they’re done to get going. That’s according to the Xbox One landing page on Xbox.com, spotted by our friends at Joystiq, which says, “With Xbox One, you can start playing immediately as games install. And updates install seamlessly in the background, so your games and entertainment won’t be interrupted.”

And that’s not all they’ve sussed out in details — the Xbox One will also have a 1,000-person friend cap. How does that tie into the Skype integration? Good question! That’s not clear just yet, but it stands to reason that they’re independent of each other.

Warner quietly extends the expiration dates of digital copies, discs remain ornamental

Warner quietly extends the expiration dates of digital copies, discs remain ornamentalMissed out on claiming digital copies of video included with your discs because the expiration dates have passed? Well, Warner Bros. wants to make such frustrations a mere memory, as Tech of the Hub has found it’s silently updated the use-by dates of a significant portion of its catalogue. By browsing the WB digital copy support page, it’s evident most titles are now available until May 17th 2017, although we did find several exceptions. Some may discover that despite the extension their original codes won’t work, but Gabe at Tech of the Hub was swiftly provided with fresh and functional ones when he notified WB, so we assume you’ll get the same treatment. With streaming support now available for many of these digital copies through iCloud and expiration dates a thing of the far future, there’s never been a better time to pack those shelves with limited editions and classic re-releases.
