Joyboat “Driven” By A Joystick

The Joyboat (hmmm, somehow it does seem to make me think of a Loveboat instead) happens to be an electric-controlled ride which will be controlled using a joystick, and it has been specially designed for quiet cruising. Basically, the Joyboat is able to cruise for up to eight hours on a single charge of its battery pack, where it will cater to those who enjoy boating but do not want to blast through the waves in a loud and noisy speedboat. I guess the Joyboat will cater more for the quiet ones who prefer to cruise the waterways in silence, admiring the sounds of nature along the way. Thanks to Sky-Yacht, the electric Joyboat is now a possibility, where it will be powered by a couple of electric motors.

PowerUp Turns Paper Boats into Motor Boats

Paper boats are fun craft projects for kids. And not just kids who lived in the 1800s either. I’m sure some kids and adults still make paper boats and set them in the water, watching the wind move them along. Well, now the PowerUp Boat updates things a bit.

The PowerUp Boat Motorized Paper Boat Kit is for modern kids who still like to play with toys in the tub. Just fold the boat, attach the motor, and let it cruise across the surface of the water. The paper is waterproof and the little flag and anchor make it look more authentic. Too bad the motor isn’t electric – it’s the wind-up type, so it will only give you about 10 seconds of cruising at a time. On the other hand, you’ll never run out of battery.

Jet Capsule Boat Looks Ready to Take off into Space

While this capsule won’t actually launch you into space, it will take you wherever you need to go fast, if you’re going over water that is. The Jet Capsule uses a propulsion system that is akin to jet skis, and I’m sure they will start zipping around marinas everywhere pretty soon.

The Jet Capsule measures 24 feet in length, and with the amount of money you pay for it, you can customize it to your heart’s desire. It uses a propulsion system that can have up to two engines producing 350hp each, giving a top speed of 57 mph.

You’ll have to pay $250,000 and more to get your own. You’ll have to decide whether to use it to ferry to your passengers to your super yacht or use it as a mini-yacht itself.

Google Barge Moored in San Francisco Harbor Has a Huge Party Deck and More

Over the last few weeks, a giant barge turned up in San Francisco Bay that was tipped to be owned by tech giant Google. Early on rumors indicated that it was a floating data center but a local San Francisco CBS affiliate KPIX 5 now claims that the giant barge isn’t a data center after all. The station reports that multiple sources have told it Google actually has luxury showrooms and a giant party deck on the barge.

The Google barge was reportedly in the planning stages for over a year. The sources also tipped that the project was personally directed by Sergey Brin and is Google’s attempt to upstage Apple and the company’s high-end retail stores around the country.

The barge is stacked with interchangeable 40-foot-long shipping containers to create a sort of modular building that can be rearranged as needed. The individual containers can also be placed on other barges, trucks, or railcars and taken wherever they’re needed. The high-end showrooms will reportedly be used to show Google gadgets such as Google Glass to invitation only customers. The party deck is said to have multiple bars and other amenities for entertaining clients.

LEGO Announces World’s Largest Ship in Kit Form: The Maersk Line Triple-E

If you’ve never heard of the Maersk Line Triple-E, it’s currently the World’s Largest Ship. The vessel measures over 1300-feet-long and 193 feet-wide, and can carry a whopping 18,000 20-foot-long containers of goods. Stood on its end, the Triple-E is 25% taller and almost as wide as New York’s Chrysler building.

Now, you can own this enormous ship in LEGO form – though it is quite a bit smaller than the real deal.

Spider-Man Boat: Leaves a Wake, Any Size

What does Spidey do when he tires of swinging from skyscrapers and working for the Daily Bugle? He likes to take some time away, on his speed boat. His Spidey speed boat.

    spider man boat 1

The problem is, this boat makes him stick out like a sore thumb and all of the villains also have boats, so they take it to the water and battle it out in an epic Marvel-meets-Waterworld event that should really be a blockbuster movie. However since nobody is out there to see it, it really doesn’t matter.

It always ends with Spidey getting a call on his cell from Aunt May, having to head back into the city and pick up some groceries.

Inflatable Boat Dress: Does This Make My Butt Look Big?

So, when your wife puts on this inflatable boat dress, how are you going to answer when she asks if it accentuates her rear end? No, it doesn’t make your aft look big at all – your fore and aft are the same size.

This crazy-looking dress can be a floatation device should you be on a cruise and find yourself in the drink. Jacqueline Bradley’s “Boat Dress” is hard to wear on land, but could save your life under the right circumstances. Think of it as a raft that you can wear.

Of course, you can’t dance in it or navigate a crowded street… You really can’t do anything except survive in the water. Until the sharks come, that is.

Gran Turismo Trimaran Takes to the Open Water, Not the Race Track

This concept trimaran will most probably able to smoke every boat in your local bay, assuming it ever gets made. It should be able to go fast since its designed to minimize the amount of boat surface touching the water as it picks up speed.

    gran turismo trimaran clemens auer

The Gran Turismo Trimaran was designed by Clemens Auer, and it was inspired by classic cars. The front half reminds me of the wings of cars from the 1930s, while the back has a similar shape to lat 1960s/early 1970s muscle cars. It was conceived with plenty of different finishes and exaggerated features to keep everyone happy.

It’s a concept for now, and was originally designed back in 2008. Maybe at some point, someone will want to make this dramatic boat.
