Shakespeare Insult Generator Book Forms Insults Only Your Literature Teach Understands

I’ve always been a big proponent of making insults and insinuations that are both understandable, and bizarre. You don’t want to insult someone in a normal fashion with something old and boring. At the same time, if you have to explain to the person you insulted just what your insult meant, it takes the sting out of the barb.

A new book has turned up called the Shakespeare Insult Generator that lets you insult people using the words of Shakespearean literature. The downside to the book is that if you aren’t insulting an English Lit major, you will probably need to explain to them what the insult means.

The book has pages that are split into three cards. Each of the sections can be mixed and matched until you form the perfect insult. The back of the cards also tell you what the words mean. You can get the book now for $12.95(USD) on ThinkGeek, you pestiferous, hollow-eyed, malignancy.

A Look Inside Nintendo’s Company Guide Book

Check out the company guide book that employees at Nintendo receive. It’s a beautiful work of art. This guide gets handed out to people who get jobs at Nintendo.

These images come from Nintendo fan blog Before Mario. Apparently, Nintendo designs a new one every year. The 2014 edition takes visual cues from the company’s past as a producer of hanafuda cards. It features illustrations that show old-school Nintendo toys in hand-drawn style, and provides a detailed company history to new employees.

Apparently, you can still get one if you pass the first few stages of the hiring process, but don’t get a job. Consider it a parting gift.

This is beautiful nerdy stuff, but I can’t help thinking that Nintendo is looking too much like a wasteful government. They have having a tough time financially of late and yet they no doubt spend a ton of money on this kind of thing. Get your gaming act together first, then you can waste money and give out fancy gifts.

Wearable Book Lets You Feel What the Character’s Are Feeling

Read any good books lately? Only the most masterful of storytellers are able to tell a tale that can touch readers and stir their emotions.

However, this tale entitled The Girl Who Was Plugged In by James Tiptree Jr. got a little help from MIT. Dubbed as Sensory Fiction, it’s the latest in wearable tech that comes in the form of a book that you can “wear” and strap on to your body via a harness, so you can feel whatever it is the main character is feeling, too. The technology isn’t limited to emotions, as the reader can be made to feel physical sensations like warmth and coldness.

The harness is equipped with LED lights, small heating devices, a vibrating mechanism, and a compression system that tightens or loosens depending on what’s happening in the story.

Wouldn’t it be neat to have a book like this at your local library? Guess it depends on what the book is about.

From the ISIS Library: How to Archer

I recently started watching the first few seasons of Archer on Netflix. I blame you all for not telling me how awesome the show was before. If you are a big fan of the show, you might wonder how you can be more like the world’s greatest spy, code-name Dutchess.

The How to Archer book promises to teach you everything you need to know to become Sterling Archer. You won’t be the real Archer, because he is himself and then there’s the fact that he is a cartoon. Still, you can be as close to Archer as you can be without actually being him.

The book promises to teach you to lie, because that is like 95% of what spies do. It will also teach you other needed skills like piloting an airboat, how to make drinks, and how to fight among other things. The book is available now for $16.99 (USD), and you can take a peek inside of it here.

Darth Vader and Son & Vader’s Little Princess Figurines: The Children Strike Back

Jeffrey Brown’s Darth Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess might be the cutest Star Wars retcon ever. The books feature a caring Anakin looking after Luke and Leia. Gentle Giant Ltd. is going to release a limited edition bundle of the two books, which will include adorable figurines of the Skywalkers.

Papercraft Smaug Made from the Hobbit Book

We love books like The Hobbit because they really come alive in our hands. In this case, the book really comes alive with a fearsome paper Smaug leaping out from the pages.

Thankfully he can’t burn you, but he is dangerous. Just think about all of the papercuts this guy could give you. This fantastic work of art was created by DeviantArtist FarTooManyIdeas. The sculpture itself is amazing, but the fact that it is springing forth from The Hobbit book, just puts the icing on the cake.

Every second in Star Wars IV arranged by how bright it is

You’re looking at every single second in Star Wars IV: A New Hope arranged according to their luminosity by Jason Salavon. It reminds me of a really cool book that I got a couple weeks ago—Star Wars: Frames. We are giving a copy of the book away, plus an original sketch by Star Wars’ artistic director Iain McCaig.

It’s a quiet book. One that will start your kids’ love for The Lord of the Rings early. The earlier you introduce them to the classic, the sooner they can be geeks in their own right.

This Lord of the Rings quiet book is a perfect starting place for their growing geekiness. This book tells the story quietly, hence the name, with little felt figures, felt pages and even lets your kids dress up Aragorn for adventure. How cool is that? Tolkien’s book was never this interactive.
