Borderlands 2 Gun Replicas Created From Nerf Guns

Borderlands 2 Gun Replicas Created From Nerf Guns

We think it’s safe to say Borderlands 2 has a lot of guns. The game probably has more guns than you can shake a stick at, especially if you’re the world champion stick shaker. But one Redditor decided he and a friend would take some Nerf guns and tweak them a bit to look exactly like guns you’d find in Borderlands 2. The result of their work is amazing, although you probably could have guessed that much since they’re being featured in a story.

Redditor DrBreakMD published photos of four Borderlands 2-inspired weapons, which were created for his “end of high school celebration.” The process of creating these four guns required him to disassembled each gun, sand the Nerf logo off of them and applied different coats of pain to each one. DrBreakMD also used dry brushing to help give each gun a more dirty, rugged look. Borderlands 2 to bring new character and higher level cap

Gearbox is looking to increase the level cap in Borderlands 2 from 50 to 61. The new level cap is set to go live on April 2nd for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 gamers alike. Those of you who have purchased the Borderlands 2 Season Pass will be able to get to the new level cap for free, while the regular Borderlands 2 gamers will have to shell out $4.99 to take advantage of it.

Borderlands 2 DLC brings new character and higher level cap

There will also be a new mode added onto Borderlands 2 called “Ultimate Vault Hunter’s Mode”. It will be available for free for all players. To access the mode, you’ll have to beat “True Vault Hunter Mode” and be at least level 50. A new weapon tier will also be added to the game. The new weapon tier, called Pearlescent, should be familiar to those of you who’ve played the original Borderlands. It is set to be the rarest loot in Borderlands 2.

Gearbox is also looking to bring a new, playable character to Borderlands 2. The character, Krieg, is a new, psycho Vault Hunter that will bring a new level of bloodiness to the game. He will have 3 skill trees: Bloodlust, Mania, and Hellborn. His action skill is Blood Axe Rampage, a skill that regenerates his health when he’s murdering an enemy. His Bloodlust skill tree focuses on dealing damage, his Mania skill tree focuses on taking damage, and his Hellborn skill tree focuses on elemental damage.

The Krieg DLC is set to launch sometime late in May for $9.99. Unfortunately, the Krieg DLC isn’t available in the Borderlands 2 Season Pass because its not part of the main campaign. Speaking of main campaign DLCs, the fourth Borderlands 2 DLC, speculated to be called “Bunkers & Badasses”, is set to be released sometime in June. The new DLC is being developed by Gearbox itself instead of by 3rd party developers.

Gearbox partially fixes Borderlands 2 compatibility pack issues on Xbox 360

The latest DLC for Borderlands 2, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt, launched earlier this week, giving fans a new line of quests to complete and a new area to explore. This is the third DLC pack released for the game in nearly as many months, but all was not well after Hammerlock launched. Gearbox has been releasing compatibility packs alongside the additional Borderlands 2 content so players who don’t buy can still play with those who did, but the latest compatibility pack has been causing some major headaches for players.

hammerlock_3

As it turns out, some players on Xbox 360 couldn’t download the compatibility pack, and therefore couldn’t play with friends who bought the DLC. That’s a pretty big issue if you have friends who picked up the Borderlands 2 season pass (as many did) and had the DLC from day one, but thankfully it seems that Gearbox has at least partially fixed the issue. Gearbox’s support website says that the compatibility pack is downloading properly for some players, and that the company is still working with Microsoft to make sure the issue is squashed once and for all.

In the meantime, if you’re one of the folks still having issues downloading the compatibility pack, Gearbox recommends going to Xbox.com and adding the pack to your downloads queue from there. If the issues still remain after trying that, then Gearbox wants you to “submit a request for additional troubleshooting help.” Gearbox didn’t say when the problem will be fixed for everyone, but it sounds like the company is making some real progress, so it shouldn’t be too much longer.

Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt is the third of four planned DLC packs for Borderlands 2. The first three DLC offerings in the Borderlands 2 season pass have been released in rather quick succession, but so far, we haven’t seen the level cap increase so many players have been asking for. Gearbox says that level cap increase should be coming soon, so sit tight Borderlands 2 players.

Borderlands 2 prices take a dive on Xbox Live

If you’ve been holding on out Borderlands 2 and have an Xbox 360, now might be a good time to buy. As a part of Xbox Live‘s Countdown to 2013 sale, the Games on Demand price for Borderlands 2 has taken a tip, shaving 33% off to come in at $39.99. That isn’t bad for a game as recent as Borderlands 2, and you can also feel good knowing that you’re getting a Game of the Year contender on the cheap.

Borderlands2_maya

So, what if you already have Borderlands 2 but still have some cash burning a hole in your pocket? Is there anything for you? It turns out there is, as Gearbox has also knocked 25% off the price of the Borderlands 2 season pass to bring it down to 1,800 MSP. The season pass, as many of you already know, gives you access to the four planned DLC packs at a discounted rate, so you’re saving even more if you opt to buy today.

Two of these DLC packs, Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty and Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, have already released, while a third titled Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt is coming up next month. We don’t have any details on the fourth DLC pack yet, but considering the rate at which Gearbox has been launching DLC for Borderlands 2, that’s bound to change soon. In short, you get a lot of content if you go with the Borderlands 2 season pass, so if you were planning to buy up the DLC anyway, it may not be bad idea to plop down some cash today.

Finally, for those of you who have never experienced what the Borderlands franchise has to offer, the original game is on sale through Games on Demand for $9.99 today as well. It should be noted that these deals are only good for today, as tomorrow a new set of deals will be ushered in for the next day in Microsoft‘s Countdown to 2013 promotion. Did you pick up any Borderlands-related goodies in today’s sale?

No Borderlands for the Wii U, Gearbox CEO explains why

Unless the game is an exclusive for a certain console, chances are if it is developed for the PlayStation 3, you will probably see an Xbox 360 version and vice versa, and most of the time the Nintendo Wii gets left out of the mix. If you were hoping that things would change with the Wii U, you might be disappointed as according to Gearbox’s CEO, Randy Pitchford, it looks like Borderlands will not be making its way onto the Wii U, which will probably be a bummer for many gamers who were hoping for a possible Wii U version of the game.

According to Pitchford, “We get asked if there is going to be a Wii U version of Borderlands, and the reason why there’s not is because we couldn’t think of a natural, obvious, ‘OMG, I want that for what the Wii U brings to the table’ feature.” Interesting Gearbox is also developing another FPS, Aliens: Colonial Marines for the Wii U, so what’s the difference then? Pitchford had this to say, “But with Aliens, the first thing we thought was ‘Holy sh*t, I can have a motion controller in my hands!’ When it’s there in my lap it feels like I’m part of the movie.” From what we can infer, if Gearbox can find a way to make use of the Wii U’s features that will complement the game, perhaps we will see Borderlands make its way onto the console in the future.

Borderlands 2 Torgue DLC on all platforms today

Just a friendly reminder to all of you Borderlands 2 players out there: Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage is available today across all platforms. This is the second DLC expansion to Borderlands 2, following the release of Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty last month. It can be had on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC for $9.99 or 800 MSP – that is, unless you purchased a Borderlands 2 season pass, in which case you can just straight up download it.

Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage sounds a like lot Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot from the first game, with players heading off to the Badass Crater of Badassitude to participate in arena combat against waves of enemies. Unlike Underdome Riot, however, Campaign of Carnage features its own mini-campaign, complete with a number of side missions to complete.

That’s on top of the new enemy types and a new currency called Torgue Tokens that can be redeemed at special vending machines for powerful loot. It sounds like Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage should be a great addition to the base game, but sadly, the level cap isn’t going up in this DLC. We have no idea when that will happen – if that’ll happen at all – but there are two more DLC packs planned for Borderlands 2, so players might get their level cap increase in one of those.

Of course, Gearbox could also simply opt to raise the level cap without a DLC release, as the studio did with the original Borderlands. Either way, there are many players out there ready to level up their characters further, so we’re hoping that the level cap gets bumped up above 50 soon. Will you be picking up Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, or is this one you plan on skipping?

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: November 7, 2012

We did it folks – we made it through another election, which means that we finally get a break from those endless political ads. It won’t be long before those ads are playing all over the place again, so savor the moment while you can. We found out today that President Obama set Twitter records with that a tweet that was shared more 600,000 times, and Apple was hit with a hefty fine in a case over patents related to FaceTime. Foxconn is saying that it’s still having issues keeping up with iPhone 5 production, and Pixar has named a new building after Steve Jobs.

We had a couple of quarterly reports land this afternoon, with both Activision and Qualcomm looking great as they charge into Q4 2012. Apple executive Eddy Cue has joined Ferrari’s board of directors, while AT&T is putting up a whopping $14 billion to boost its LTE and U-Verse services. There were rumors of an iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display floating around today, and ZTE was spotted teasing a new Windows Phone 8 device with a massive 5.9-inch screen.

Gearbox has squashed a nasty exploit in Borderlands 2 with a new patch, and we learned that Kim Dotcom’s new website has been killed before it even got off the ground. AT&T has revealed off-contract pricing for the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, and Time Warner Cable is trying to lure new customers in by giving away free Xbox 360s. We got to see Nintendo President Satoru Iwata unbox the Wii U, found out which features will be on the Wii U from launch day, and were even told that the Wii U will allow for 12 user accounts per console.

Verizon is waiving voice and text fees for those who were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, and Microsoft has released its SkyDrive app for Windows Phone 8. A new Sandvine report gives us an idea of just how popular Netflix is in North America, and Yahoo has hired a former National Geographic photographer to head up Flickr. A*STAR has revealed a new hybrid disk drive that’s only 5mm-thick, and DC Comics are now available digitally through iOS, Kindle, and NOOK devices.

Finally tonight, Don Reisinger asks if Apple actually helps its competitors, we take a closer look at Qualcomm Halo, and Chris Davis gives us his review of the Phillips hue lightbulb. That does it for tonight’s edition of the Evening Wrap-Up, enjoy the rest of your night everyone!

Gearbox issues update to fix Borderlands 2 character sabotage

It’s a good day if you happen to be a Borderlands 2 player, as Gearbox has issued a patch that apparently fixes the exploit some unsavory folks have been using to sabotage the characters of other players. If you’re not familiar with this exploit (or you’ve simply been playing on something other than Xbox 360), it allows other players who enter your game to potentially wipe out your saved characters. Not a good thing by any means, and it’s easy to see why Gearbox rushed to get a patch out the door.

The patch should be available through Xbox Live now, and this fix is the only thing the patch contains. The patch notes say that the studio has “Added security to prevent data loss tied to malicious violations of the Xbox Live Code of Conduct through an unsupported third-party program,” so hopefully this is the last we hear of this particularly nasty exploit. After all, we can’t imagine that it’s a lot of fun to have your level 50 character disappear simply because they died in-game (which happens pretty frequently for us at least).

Of course, while this exploit may have been quashed with this update, there’s still the issue of badass rank resets. Given the fact that character resets are a little more severe than rank resets, we can see why Gearbox got a fix for the former issue out sooner, but there are still plenty of players on all three platforms who are having their badass ranks – and the benefits that come along with them – vanish. Hopefully Gearbox will deliver a fix for that issue soon, because it’s been plaguing players since the game’s launch.

Still, despite the fact that there are remaining bugs to fix, at least one terrible exploit has been wiped out. Were you one of the unfortunate players who had their characters wiped, or did you manage to avoid this exploit? Keep it tuned here to SlashGear, as we’ll update you when Gearbox releases new patches for Borderlands 2!
