HP Spectre ONE All-In-One PC is beautiful

HP has just launched the Spectre ONE ($1299), an All-In-One (AIO) desktop computer that is only 11.5mm thick at its thinnest point. This computer has been designed to look great, and be a bit of a “show off” piece in some way. To achieve such a lofty goal, HP did put the electronics in the base and got rid of legacy features like the optical drive, and there’s no TV Tuner either. Instead, HP expects customers to use online services and downloads to watch video content. (more…)

Motorola RAZR Maxx HD preview

We’ve just covered the Motorola launch event live on Ubergizmo, but now we’ve had some “hands-on” time with all three phones, including the Motorola RAZR Maxx HD, which will be the most exciting of all for the “enthusiast” category of users. Why? Simply because it’s an even better version of the previous RAZR Maxx but it keeps the 3300mAh battery which is the most important family trait of all. (more…)

Nokia Lumia 920 hands-on

As you may have seen during our live blogging, Nokia has launched the Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones. You can check their specifications and features in our previous report. The first impression is that this a very nice hardware platform for Windows Phone 8, and it’s not surprising that Steve Balmer was so enthusiastic about it.

Both 820 and 920 phones are very (very!) responsive, and that’s partly thanks to the Windows Phone 8 OS itself. The Lumia 920 is the more interesting device obviously. It looks and feels a bit large, but not close to the Galaxy Note 2 or the LG Vu. The 920 has a polycarbonate body which is extremely resistant (I dropped a Lumia 800 once… oops, it came back totally fine). (more…)

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 Wireless Charging Pad Leaked

Wireless charging is not exactly a novelty and a number of vendors, such as HP, have tried their hands on it in the past. The technology hasn’t exactly gained traction so far. However, Nokia seems to have jumped the bandwagon and has a shot at popularizing wireless charging.

A new image leaked by evleaks shows a wireless charging pad for Nokia’s Lumia devices. In the image, two upcoming Lumia devices, Lumia 920 PureView and Lumia 820, being charged through a wireless charging pad. Apparently, you simply have to place the devices on the pad to charge them and some kind of magnetic strip keeps them intact. (more…)

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook with IPS display

The Spectre series is undoubtedly the high-powered group of computers in HP’s line of personal laptops. The HP Spectre XT TouchSmart is the latest model designed for the upcoming Windows 8 OS. As its name indicates, the display (15″) is a touch screen with which users can perform the various gestures that Windows 8 now supports.

The first thing that popped right away is the display. It is a beautiful 15.6″, 1080p IPS display. We were able to see from a distance that it uses the IPS technology because both the colors and the view angles were quite extraordinary. (more…)

HP Envy X2 PC/tablet “transformer”, hands-on

HP is coming out with the HP Envy X2, a 11.6″ (1366×768) touch-screen slate PC that can be converted into a clamshell laptop with a simple “snap” into a keyboard dock. This is a concept that has been popularized by the ASUS Transformer Pad which combines the elegance of a tablet to the productivity of an ultra-light laptop.

We’ve played with it, and the first thing that we noticed was the rather amazing build quality and solid feel of this product. The Envy X2 is mostly made of aluminum, and both the tablet and the keyboard feel extremely rigid – almost like a solid bloc of aluminum. The connector is pretty easy to snap in place (one-handed operation), and feels very robust as well. Users can grab the screen and lift the dock+tablet combo without any problems. (more…)

Samsung Series 5 Ultra laptop, hands-on

Samsung’s Series 5 Ultra is the first generation of Samsung laptop to get an integrated 13.3″ touch screen optimized for Windows 8. The design language and overall build quality of this Series 5 Ultra reminds us of the 15″ Series 9. The body is made of aluminum, and the design is slick and very rigid. It’s not as thin as the Series 9, but it is in a different price range as well: $799 to $849. (more…)
