Qualcomm Launches “Internet Processor” With Snapdragon DNA

Qualcomm Launches “Internet Processor” With Snapdragon DNAQualcomm has just announced that it is introducing a line of Internet Processor (IPQ, the Q stands for Qualcomm) that will provide higher performance for connected devices like routers and other Internet appliances that may need to handle high data throughput. When we discussed with Todd Antes from Qualcomm-Atheros, he said that in Qualcomm’s own estimations, a number of Internet devices were limited by their network processing power, instead of their maximum theoretical bandwidth. With these IPQ chips, Qualcomm’s customers should be able to provide faster products. (more…)

    Tegra Note 7 Review

Tegra Note 7 ReviewAfter leaking in August, stopped by for a quick stint at the FCC website in September, and an official announcement from NVIDIA later that month, we finally got the Tegra Note 7 in our hands for a full review. We already knew that the Nexus 7 2013 is a formidable competitor at the $200+ price point, but we’ve recently seen several OEMs innovate and carve their own space in a tablet market that may be more diversified than once thought. Lenovo recently added the Lenovo Tablet which emphasizes extreme battery/price ratio. Now NVIDIA is coming with its own Android tablet twist by giving users a very good stylus experience, and top gaming performance at $199. This is a user experience that no other tablet can match at this price. (more…)

Pebble Smart Watch Update for IOS 7 and SDK 2.0

Today Pebble unveiled its software update with deeper integration with iOS7and its brand new SDK 2.0.

Pebble became very famous when the company raised over 10.2 million dollars from over 69,000 backers on Kickstarter. Since the product started to ship in January 2013, 190,000 Pebble watches are now worn by happy users and over 50 applications are available in iTunes and Google Play, a total of 2,200 apps and faces are on mypebblefaces.com and 80,000 watchfaces were created on watchfacegenerator.de.

Nexus 5 Officially Announced, Available “Today”Google has just announced the Nexus 5 (official page) without fanfare on its website. Lenovo Yoga Tablet: Affordable + Large Battery Capacity

Lenovo Yoga Tablet: Affordable + Large Battery CapacityLenovo just announced two new Android Tablets (4.2.2), called Yoga Tablet 10 and Yoga Tablet 8. They are very affordable tablets ($249 and $299) designed around large battery capacities of 6000mAh and 9000mAh (for reference the iPad 4 had around 11000mAh, and the Nexus 7 2013 has 3950mAh), thanks to their very particular design. The battery is housed into the circular section at the top of the display, which allows Lenovo to use standard cylindrical batteries instead of custom flat ones which are much more expensive. Lenovo then sought to make the best use of that volume by turning it into a stand and an effective grip. That’s also where the very large (and easy to find) Power button is.

NVIDIA SHIELD Gets Android 4.3, Gamepad Mapper

NVIDIA SHIELD Gets Android 4.3, Gamepad Mapper

When SHIELD launched, NVIDIA has promised to deliver OS updates as fast as they can, so SHIELD is now getting an Android 4.3 update today. There are a number of interesting things in 4.3, but the most important in terms of gaming has to be OpenGL ES 3.0, which makes new graphics features available to developers. There are quite a few, but among the practical ones, I like: the better texture compression (since memory is always a very scarce resource), shadow-mapping, multiple render targets and new HDR-friendly texture formats. This should add some serious eye-candy to games down the road. (more…)
