Do you want a beer, or do you want a cocktail? The answer is yes. You want both. Right now. Simultaneously. In a single glass.
Budweiser Launches BUD 360° App
Posted in: Today's ChiliBudweiser seems to be getting more and more interactive these days, first having revealed the Budweiser Buddy Cup that offers a novel way of making friends via Facebook through a simple toast of two different Buddy Cups, and here we are with Kevin Harvick in the video above, going around to market the new interactive racing app known as the BUD 360° app, where fans will then be virtually there in the cockpit of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet SS that has Harvick at the wheel.
It offers viewers the virtual experience of hitting hair splitting speeds of 190 mph, which is definitely a novel idea, and it sure as heck beats whatever else the likes of Gran Turismo is able to offer, now? Blaise D’Sylva, vice president of media, sports & entertainment for Anheuser-Busch, said, “The BUD 360 app is a new and innovative way to engage with consumers. The app gives fans an unprecedented look inside the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet and allows them to control the view of racing at 190 mph in a way that’s never been possible before.”

Apparently Budweiser feels that drinking isn’t a social enough activity. They want to integrate your drinking with Facebook. How will they do this? With the Buddy Cup.
This new beer cup has a chip in the base that allows it to detect the presence of another Buddy Cup. Thanks to a QR like code on the bottom of the cup, you can link it to your Facebook account. Once your cup is Facebook aware, the fun begins. If you toast another Buddy Cup, you automatically become friends on the popular social network.
The problem is we mostly drink with people we already know, so what’s the point? Perhaps it’s just a clever marketing campaign that perhaps hasn’t been thought out as well as it could have been. What do you guys think?

Mention Budweiser, and chances are you would think of the world famous beer brand. Well, Budweiser has come up with something that is interesting enough, so much so it might actually spur you on to return to your socializing ways at the local tavern. The Budweiser Buddy Cup, as it is called, is a new kind of “smart” beer glass which will be able to connect to Facebook thanks to an integrated chip which is located at the base of the beer glass itself. It is the creation of Agencia Africa in partnership with Bolha, a digital innovation studio in Sao Paulo, where the glass would be able to work on its own by making people friends on Facebook whenever they toast with that particular beer glass.
Sergio Gordilho, chief creative officer at Agencia Africa, said: “Innovation is in Budweiser’s DNA. Its platforms are constantly surprising consumers with the best there is in terms of premium experiences. The “Buddy Cup” is another idea bringing the brand even closer to its consumers and opening new levels of interaction for them.” This would certainly make those outings at the local watering hole a whole lot more interesting, don’t you think so?

Budweiser Buddy Cup Unveiled
Posted in: Today's ChiliBudweiser has just announced the unveiling of their Buddy Cup, where this particularly unique drinking instrument is actually a beer glass, but boy oh boy, what a smart beer glass this has turned out to be! The Buddy Cup from Budweiser is smart enough to connect to Facebook, and this is made possible thanks to a built-in chip. The Buddy Cup is the brainchild of Agencia Africa in partnership with Bolha, where the latter is a digital innovation studio in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the glass would be able to get to work by instantly enabling people to be friends with each other on Facebook whenever they toast using the Buddy Cup beer glass.
According to Sergio Gordilho, chief creative officer at Agencia Africa, “Innovation is in Budweiser’s DNA. Its platforms are constantly surprising consumers with the best there is in terms of premium experiences. The “Buddy Cup” is another idea bringing the brand even closer to its consumers and opening new levels of interaction for them.”
The whole idea of the Buddy Cup is to enhance brand activation as well as increase the interaction levels between Budweiser consumers who decide to drop by the brand’s sponsored parties, concerts as well as festivals. One thing’s for sure, this is very different from the rumored HTC Budweiser!

Making new friends over cold brew isn’t particularly difficult, but making those friendships Facebook-official requires a bit more effort — unless you have Buddy Cup, that is. Developed by ad outfit Agencia Africa and creative studio Bolha for Budweiser Brazil, the drinking vessel makes folks who toast with each other friends on Zuckerberg and Co.’s social network as soon as their beverages collide, with an LED lighting up to confirm the new acquaintance. Partygoers link their Facebook profile with the LilyPad-based grail by scanning a QR code underneath the glass with an app from the brewer, and they’ll be on their way to making new pals. The Drum reports that the Buddy Cup will be used at concerts, festivals and parties sponsored by The King of Beers, but we’re sure intrepid imbibers can hack some together for use at their own soirees. In the grand scheme of things, social media is pretty great by most accounts. It’s changed the face of the Internet. Drinking is also pretty great. It formed the shape of the world. So how about Facebook-connected beer receptacles? Two great tastes that taste great together or “noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo*gasp*oooooooooooooo”? More »
For some reason – probably because they are all closet Doctor Who fans – Budweiser has decided to introduce a bow-tie shaped can. Drunks everywhere are suddenly feeling all classy.
The company has been developing the can since 2010 and has made major equipment investments at its can-making facility in Newburgh to make the 16-step process to create the cans better.
But why make a weird shaped can and go through all of the trouble? Well, this new can holds 11.3 ounces of beer, compared with the traditional 12-ounce can. If enough suckers buy this they will probably eventually save millions by offering 0.7 ounces less for the same price. The company says the new can won’t replace the traditional Budweiser can, but I’m sure that if they have enough sales, they would love to sell you fewer ounces of beer.
The new bow tie cans will be available in a special 8-pack nationwide starting May 6.

Why Would Anyone Buy a Bow Tie-Shaped Beer Can That Actually Gives You Less Beer?
Posted in: Today's Chili When Budweiser changed its iconic all American beer can to accentuate the bow tie logo of the so called King of Beers, I was not happy. Even though I don’t really care what the outside of the beer can looks like as long as my words start slurring. Even though I don’t drink Budweiser. It was a telegraphed move by an old company trying to fake cool. Whatever. I’m over it now. But now Budweiser is introducing a bow tie-shaped can to match their bow tie logo. It kind of looks like the dented cans you see littered around a frat house. It kind of looks like the redesigned Xbox. It’s a beer can without the beer belly. Which makes sense because it also has less beer. More »
