Concrete pipes never looked so inviting. At the Prahran Hotel, a pub in Australia, stacks of pre-cast concrete tubes have been turned into cozy, wood-paneled booths for sharing a pint or two. From the outside, they look like kegs (get it?) or portholes—in any case, nothing remotely as dystopian as the phrase "concrete pipes" might evoke.
This was posted on February but got no attention until yesterday, when these guys found it. And while it may have been staged, I have no problem believing it—there have been many similar cases of rotten or fragile buildings falling under minimal vibration.
An exoskeleton punched through to form internal skybridges as the triangular trusswork wrapped aroun
Posted in: Today's ChiliAn exoskeleton punched through to form internal skybridges as the triangular trusswork wrapped around the building’s exterior gets tangled up in spiderwebs deep within the resulting, cave-like hollows. No, it’s not a prop in a children’s horror story or a postmodern Charlotte’s Web, but a new hotel and casino proposed by architect Zaha Hadid for the city of Macau. [designboom]
Ford Plans To Put a 2015 Mustang Convertible on Top of the Empire State Building
Posted in: Today's ChiliCheck out the image below and look at it closely. It’s an old and blurry image in black and white from the 60′s, but you can see clearly that is a Ford Mustang on top of New York City’s iconic Empire State building. The car was put up there as an advertising stunt to celebrate the launch of the original 1965 Mustang convertible.
If you are wondering how the car got up there, engineers took the car apart into three major chunks and reassembled it on the observation deck of the building. Ford plans to recreate this marketing stunt for the all-new 2015 Mustang convertible.
The new Mustang will be carried up the elevator as well and sit atop the observation deck of the building for two days during the New York Auto show this April. The engineers are still working out how exactly they will take the much larger modern Mustang apart and reassemble it on top of the building with only a 6-hour window of opportunity.
If you’re fortunate enough to be in town between April 16th and 17th, the car will be on display from 8am to 2am on the building’s observation deck.

Energy-efficient buildings can be wonderful at keeping out drafts and keeping down heating bills. But the same air-tightness, unfortunately, is also perfect for trapping humid air where toxic mold can go to party.
What an amazing building this turned out to be, the new Abedian School of Architecture at Bond University in Queensland, Australia. Designed by London’s CRAB studio—led by Gavin Robotham and Sir Peter Cook, whose work you might know from Archigram—the 27,000 square-foot structure has just been completed and now faces the hard test of everyday use.
I’m surprised that Doctor Who has never had a cat companion. I mean, cats have nine lives and time lords have 13. You would think they would be palling around and having adventures all of the time. At least cats can experience their very own time and space adventure with this TARDIS cat condo.
It is the best cat condo ever! This is the work of Etsy artist MonksHomefurnishings and you can get it for $695(USD). This TARDIS is 47″ tall, 18″ wide, and 19″ deep. According to my calculations, that’s the perfect size for your cat to play in.
Just get your cat a little bow tie and fez and you are done! Et voilà…. looks like Allons-y Kimberly already has taken care of that for you:

Little can actually be guaranteed to survive the high-velocity wave walls and pummeling winds of a tsunami—but this house will at least put up a damn good showing.
Utility buildings are boring. You, like I, have seen many of them. They suck and could use a new look. Well, this one in Illinois is much better.
This building was painted to look like level graphics from Super Mario Bros. and I bet they now call the town their own personal Mushroom Kingdom. This is exactly what it would look like if the Mario Brothers had a brick and mortar business.
Now everybody go paint other boring buildings like this and then show us what you did. We can make this world a geekier place, one building at a time.
Awesome job people.

Screens and curtains are alright, but sometimes you want a real wall. Solid, substantial and offering some privacy. And if bricks and cement blocks are too boring, you can always turn to repurposed household items. Right?
