Kids love colors. Kids love Pokemon. Collectors love limited editions. And that’s all you need to understand about Nintendo’s 3DS marketing strategy. So, what’s a Xerneas and an Yveltal? They’re Pokemon things — Legendaries, in fact — and we have no idea. But we do know Nintendo’s two new Pokemon XY edition 3DS XLs are going to sell out like a Miley Cyrus concert sponsored by Blow Pops and Build-a-Bear when they hit stores on September 27th. The plus-sized systems come in two striking color combos — blue/black and red/black — and feature a pre-loaded digital copy of the game, as well as abstract sketch designs of the aforementioned deer-like, fairy Xerneas and hawkish, dark and flying-type Yveltal. Nintendo hasn’t priced these two custom cash cows just yet, but consider yourself warned: if you don’t act fast and catch’em all when they hit, you can can count on them being as rare to find as the Pokemon they represent.
Update: Turns out these new bundles don’t include digital copies of Pokemon XY. The game will be available for purchase separately.

Black Friday’s coming and you know what that means: time to move some units. For two days only starting November 23rd, Sony’s knocking an additional $50 off existing PlayStation console bundles. Consumers with the wherewithal to withstand the shopping frenzy can snare the Ultimate PS3 Value Bundle (i.e. 250GB console, Uncharted Dual Pack, inFamous Collection and PS Plus trial) or one of three WiFi-only PS Vita deals (Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Lego Batman 2 or Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified) at select retailers for $199. Of course, if M for Mature’s not your bag, there’s always the family-friendlier Wii U to consider.

Microsoft announces Xbox 360 holiday bundles and $50 off promo for US market
Posted in: Today's ChiliWith this year’s holidays being just around the corner, it’s only natural for companies to start tempting potential customers with cash-saving, too-good-to-pass deals. With that in mind, Microsoft, via the informative Major Nelson, announced earlier today its 2012 Xbox 360 holiday bundles in hopes of luring some folks in; among these are a 250GB console with Kinect, Dance Central 2, Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures and one month of Xbox Live for $400, while there’s also a 4GB, $300 option that comes with the same Gold subscription, Redmond’s motion-tracking peripheral, Kinect Disneyland Adventures and Kinect Adventures. In addition, the Surface maker said retailers should start offering the console for $50 off MSRP, and that this limited time deal will also apply to the Halo 4 bundle which is due to come out on November 6th. Better yet, these new bundles and promos are available now — so, for those living in the US, now could be a good time to snag one of Microsoft’s renowned consoles.
