Epic Dragon Cake: Never Have Scales Looked So Delicious

This dragon cake looks amazing as well as tasty. I would battle it with a fork if it took all day to vanquish my foe. En garde dragon! You are dealing with a hungry knight with an empty stomach.

This cake has some really nice detail. I especially like the eyes. They seem to follow you and are nice and menacing. There’s no doubt that it took a long time to create and that it was a labor of love. Imagine how long it took to do all of those scales and ridges. Not that I would care as I dug my fork in, but it is very impressive.

Now, let’s see what this vile beast looks like all cut open.

This Burrito Cake is Burritoful

I like burritos and I like cake, but I’m not sure that these two delicious foods were ever intended to meet. But leave it to some crafty pastry chef to defy logic and make one anyhow.

burrito cake 620x410magnify

Yep, that’s not the world’s largest burrito – it’s a cake. It was made by Elizabeth Marek at Oregon’s Artisan Cake Company, and it looks good enough to eat – for lunch. The cake itself is chocolate with peanut butter mousse, but you’d never know it from the outside. The tortilla is made from fondant icing, and scorched with a blowtorch, and the guac and sour cream are made from buttercream. I have to assume the other fillings are all made of sugar, and not actual rice, beans, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and olives.

If you decide to order one just like it, be sure to ask them to make some “salsa” for dipping it into. I’m thinking some mashed up strawberries and kiwis might do the trick.

Adventure Time Gingerbread Candy Kingdom: More Edible than Mathematical

If you are a fan of the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time, then you know that Finn and Jake are always adventuring in and around the Candy Kingdom. They don’t ever seem tempted to eat the kingdom however, which is weird, because it is obviously delicious.

Now the candy kingdom has come to life and it is even more tasty. Redditor IHaveAFluffyCat wanted to bring this sweet kingdom to life so she created a sugary masterpiece called the Gingerbread Candy Kingdom.

The entire thing is edible, with lots of nice details like the lickable Gumball Guardians and the fluffy cotton candy trees. It’s a nice place to visit with my mouth, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

Minecraft TARDIS Cake: A Creeper Has the Phonebox!

There are a lot of people one doesn’t expect to coming out of the TARDIS. Chuck Norris, President Lincoln and Nathan Drake to name just a few. Oh and a Creeper. I never expected to see a Creeper in the TARDIS. Get him out before he explodes!

This fun Minecraft and Doctor Who mash-up birthday cake was created by Curiaussiety Custom Cakes of Australia. Look at that Creeper just creeping. He is probably having a quick look outside to make sure the Doctor isn’t coming back, so it can safely blow up the console room.

Hey maybe that Creeper is the Doctor’s new companion. That would be pretty cool.

Animated Donkey Kong Wedding Cake: How High Can You Eat?

While we’ve certainly seen our fair share of cool video game inspired cakes over the years, this is the first time I’ve seen one that almost looks playable. By using projection mapping technology, this wedding cake has been turned into an animated version of Donkey Kong.

Posh DJs and their pal Dan from Invader Visuals worked their magic with a set of boxy white cakes from MealsForReals to make this epically geeky cake come together. But enough talking about it, it only really makes sense if you see it in action:

Cool, no? It looks like it also has Dig Dug, Pac-Man and other modes, but the Donkey Kong level is the best since it fits so perfectly onto the tiers of the cake. I only wish the cake came with a joystick so you could play it before eating it.

P.S. If you loved the video’s soundtrack as much as I did, you can find the whole tune here.

Life-sized Dalek Wedding Cakes: Doctor Chew

When you have (almost) life-sized Dalek wedding cakes, it must feel like you are being married at gunpoint. Plunger-point? MARRY HER OR BE EXTERMINATED! Okay, okay, I’m walking down the aisle already!

These cool Dalek wedding cakes were made by Dinkydoodle Designs and are probably the largest Dalek cakes we have ever seen. Each of these edible Daleks stood five feet-tall, but they weren’t the only Daleks at the wedding. The couple also had a Dalek ice sculpture and a sculpture with a Dalek and TARDIS on top of it. I’m sure the Dalek cakes were the main attraction at the event though. Aside from the bridal party that is.

They look deadly and delicious at the same time. Congrats to the couple on a great wedding and some amazing huge and intimidating cakes.

Donkey Kong Projected Onto A Wedding Cake Is Completely Playable

We know while you’re in the middle of celebrating your new marriage to your significant other, the last thing that should be on your mind is how you can get a quick game of Donkey Kong in during the festivities. Well, Posh Entertainment has come up with a way for you to be able to play Donkey Kong on your wedding cake as they use a 3-D mapped projector to display the game on the cake. (more…)

Doctor Who/Minecraft Cake: It’s Blockier on the Outside

Fans of Minecraft and Doctor Who will love this mashup cake and want one for their own birthday. This amazing-looking Dark Chocolate Cake with Light Caramel Frosting was made by Chef JB Cada and Stephanie Santos from Quezon City, Philippines bakery The Regali Kitchen.

It brings together two geek favorites in one delectable dessert. It features the 10th Doctor wearing his 3D glasses, along with a Dalek and a Weeping Angel – all done up in Minecraft style. Obviously it was made for Aemon’s 11th birthday and I wish I were that kid.

They probably should have had the 11th Doctor there too since it is the kid’s 11th birthday, but it’s still pretty awesome.

‘Ramen’ses Return Cake: Oodles of Noodles

Threadless is currently holding a contest called Threadcakes – in which bakers submit cake designs inspired by Threadless t-shirts. There are a bunch of awesome and amusing submissions, but my favorite so far has to be this cake.

The cake was inspired by Jerry Maninang’s ‘Ramen’ses Return t-shirt design. The cake not only captures the essence of the amusing t-shirt’s design, but takes it to a whole ‘nother level, IMHO. Also cake is better for you than noodles. Or so I’ve been told.

This intricate vanilla buttermilk cake was made by Jessica Allard, who deserves all the accolades in the world for her amazing noodle cake. Check out all of the work she had to go through in order to create this incredible edible sculpture.

Be sure to check out all of the other delicious submissions in the Threadcakes gallery. I give my second place prize to Death is Random. Though Tea at 2,000 Feet is pretty spectacular too.

Zombie Horse Cake Looks Disgustingly Delicious

This awesome zombie cake looks terrifying. Terrifyingly delicious. I would love to get a slice of that rotting flesh and bone. This undeadible masterpiece was created by the Tattooed Bakers for the opening of Miss Cakehead’s Feed the Beast cake shop.

    devil horse cake 1 620x412magnify

The horse of the apocalypse is a red velvet cake that took over 200 hours to complete. It’s got some really nice detail on its festering wounds. What makes this cake even better is that it pours a circulating fountain of rum out of its nostrils and into a cauldron.

    devil horse cake 2 620x930magnify

Cake and rum? From a horse? How awesome is that? Eat, drink, then eat some more, then drink some more and sooner or later you will be on top of this cake trying to ride it and slipping all over the place from the icing. Then breaking it in half and falling on the floor. Sugar and rum are a powerful combination.
