My Bitter Valentine: Order Some Custom Anti-Sweethearts Candies

For obvious reasons, February 14th is the day that most single people dread. If you’ve been dumped, cheated on, lied to, or jilted by a scumbag of an ex-boyfriend (or ex-girlfriend) recently, then it’s time you placed an order in for some bitter Valentine candy. I don’t mean bitter, as in bitter to the taste. Rather, I mean sweet little heart-shaped candies that carry a mean and definitely not well-meaning message on each.

Necco is well-known for their candy hearts, and they’ve begun offering a ‘personalize your own Necco‘ service lately which you can use to achieve your bitter ends this (anti-)Valentine’s Day. They’ve got filters set up to prevent people from personalizing profanity-riddled hearts… But where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Crude, I know, but hey, anything to cheer the lonelies and the heartbroken on Not-So-Happy Hearts Day, right?

13-Year-Old Creates Candy Bar to Fatten Up His College Fund

When I was 13, I wasn’t thinking about college. No, at that time, I was worried about whether or not I’d get accepted for the school paper and how I was going to ask my parents for a cellphone (it was a relatively new thing at the time.)

So it goes without saying that Tucker Fish is one impressive teenager. He wants to study business in college, and he’s already working out his entrepreneurial muscle as early as now. Tucker has apparently created an all-new candy bar that he wants to develop and sell online called the ‘College Bound Bar’.

Tucker is getting things started by having his parents help him launch a campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for ingredients and tools for the candy-making craft.

He’s even gotten support from celebrity chef Guy Fieri and the project is already more than 100% funded. You can help support Tucker’s dreams and get your hands on one of his special candy bars for a minimum pledge of $10(USD), five bars for $25, or ten bars for $50 by January 21, 2013.

Kinder Surprise Egg Marriage Proposal Gives Bride-to-Be Everything But the Chocolate

If you’re lucky and if you do things right, then you’ll probably only have to plan a marriage proposal only once in your entire lifetime. So why not expend the right amount of effort and pour excessive loads of creativity and thoughtfulness into it to give your significant other the proposal of her (or his) lifetime?

Redditor rad_rob gave it a shot with his iPad proposal. Eddie wowed his girl (and thousands of geeks worldwide) with his Iron Man arc reactor proposal.

Matthew, on the other hand, popped the question with a Kinder Surprise Egg.

kinder egg surpriseMatthew and Lori used to buy and gift each other with Kinder Surprise Eggs all the time before they were banned a few years ago. So Matthew decided to use it as the basis for his proposal and painstakingly took the chocolate egg apart and replaced the toy inside with a robot figure that, when assembled, forms a tiny MatthewBot on bended knee.

Of course, the ring itself was also inside. And in case you were wondering, Lori said yes.

Lego-powered M&M sorter pleases your palate’s imagination (video)

DNP Legopowered robot sorts and serves M&Ms by color video

While it’s nothing more than a placebo, believe it or not, some people actually argue over which color M&Ms taste better. If the latter speaks to your spirit and you’re tired of manually filtering unwanted sweets from your holiday spread, then you might be in luck. A crafty tinkerer who goes by the YouTube handle “Nxt1engineer” has shared a clever contraption that sorts M&Ms by shade. Using tone-detecting sensors, this Lego-powered machine separates and dispenses the popular candy-coated snack, ensuring that everyone receives their favorite hue without any fuss. It’s not entirely clear how you might be able to bring this awesome apparatus home, but you can at least see it in action — check it out in the video after the break.

They’re made by Nikki’s Treats, and when ordered in the default grey (white chocolate) shell, look exactly like Han and Chewie’s trusty ship. Unlike the actual Falcon, these ones can be filled with Cadbury-like creme, caramel, peanut butter, marshmallow cream, peppermint cream or yummy Nutella. What’s not to like?

Grab a pack of three edible Millennium Falcons over on Etsy for $7.50(USD) before Chewbacca hoards them all for himself. While you’re over there, be sure to grab up some sugary Darth Vader and Han Solo treats.

111-Foot-Long Train Made of Chocolate: Choo-Choo… Chew!

Who doesn’t love chocolate? You can never have too much. You probably wish that you had a train-load of chocolate delivered to you every day. But what about a train that is actually made of the sweet stuff? A 111-foot-long chocolate train. Now that sounds delicious.

This train was created by “master chocolatier” Andrew Farrugia of Malta. It’s 2,755 pounds of fine Belgian chocolate – 6.5 million calories if you are counting.

He got the idea for the train last year, when visiting the Belgian Chocolate Festival in Bruges, with the thought that you can make a train as long as you want. Overall, it took Farrugia 784 hours to build this incredible thing, which is now officially the world’s longest chocolate sculpture ever built.

I call dibs on the engine. That’s always the chocolatiest part of any chocolate train.

Deo Candy Makes Funky Pits Smell like Roses

I don’t why it is exactly, but my 11-year-old son has a serious aversion to bathing regularly and using deodorant. I’m sure he’s not the only pre-teen boy out there who can’t carve the time out of their busy schedule of video games and backyard football for a shower. Luckily, he will eat all the candy you put in front of him, so this Deo edible deodorant candy may be just the ticket – assuming he doesn’t mind smelling like a girl.

The Bulgarian manufacturer of the candy claims that it tackles body odor from the inside out. The candy is made using geraniol, which is the type of alcohol found in rose oil. According to the manufacturer of the candy, as a person sweats that particular alcohol evaporates through the skin leaving your skin smelling like roses.

According to scientists, we already know that eating lots of food like garlic or curry can change the way a person smells. That means that this candy could work, but scientists say we would need a placebo-controlled study to determine if the candy is actually effective at eliminating body odor from the inside out.

My eight-year-old daughter swears up and down that Justin Bieber smells like cotton candy when he sweats. I wondered on more than one occasion where she got the story from, and I have told her that there was no way he could smell like candy when he sweats. It seems she was correct, assuming Bieber has a package of Deo Perfume Candy.

This new candy appears to be Russian and promises to block body odor from the inside out. The candy is sold by Amazon.com in the US and the maker of the candy says that you eat it, and it leaves your skin with a rose fragrance. The manufacturer claims that the candy contains geraniol, which is a alcohol found rose oil that aromatizes as evaporates through the skin.

One scientist claims that we know people who eat aromatic foods, like lots of curry or garlic, find that the food works its way into the sweat and influences how they smell. However, the scientists claim that no one has actually demonstrated that affect. The scientist, named George Preti, is a chemist at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia. He says that a person’s body odor depends on the chemical composition of their skin secretions and the bacteria that feeds on the secretions.

However, Preti does admit that changing the composition of skin secretions by eating aromatic spices could change a person’s body odor. However, he says that we would need a placebo-controlled trial using the Deo candy and similar candy with no rose oil to determine if it was truly effective.
