Robocop Cardboard Cosplay: I’d Make That for a Dollar

This amazing Robocop cosplay outfit is made completely out of cardboard. And as you can see in the video below, it is easy to wear and move around in.

The costume made an appearance at Dragon-Con and Comic-Con 2013. It was designed and built by ComicBookGirl19 along with her friend Tyson, and it’s completely awesome. It is very convincing when you see this costume out and about so you could be forgiven if you think that Detroit’s finest cop is walking down the street with you. If you needed further proof that you can do amazing things with cardboard, here it is…

Now I hope they try to make a cardboard ED-209. That I would like to see.

Pizza Box Airplane: Fly Pepperoni Airlines

This airplane is guaranteed to crash within a half hour or less, or your money back. Here’s the story. Darren Lewis and Phil Reilly built this awesome and surprisingly functional remote-controlled airplane out of an old Dominos Pizza box.

pizza plane

Well, a pizza box, an RC controller and $35 worth of parts. It even has an actuated rudder and ailerons. Pay attention Dominos. This is how I want my pizza delivered next time. It flies surprisingly well. It is actually a thing of beauty. But maybe that’s because I’m really hungry right now.

It proves that pizza box technology should be applied to aviation right away. Maybe it could shoot some breadstick missiles.

Berlin Boombox Now Available: Paper Power!

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen the Berlin Boombox. The device turned up on Kickstarter about a year ago when it was seeking funding for production. We lost track of the device after the Kickstarter campaign and it has now turned up again, and this time you can buy it outright.

The DIY Berlin Boombox is a cardboard papercraft kit that requires you to fold and stuff tabs into slots. Other than the cardboard shell for the boombox, it also comes with speakers and other hardware required to make the audio work.

Berlin Boombox

The Berlin Boombox has a pair of small speakers that slot into the little cardboard slots inside the cardboard shell, a volume knob, and a battery pack that holds three AA batteries. Once built, you simply connect your audio device to the speakers using the 3.5 mm plug. This would probably be the perfect ghetto blaster to go with your 80s music collection and giant sheet of cardboard for breakdancing.

The Berlin Boombox is available from Bitemyapple.com for $79.99(USD).

Chairigami Refoldable Cardboard Furniture: Just Unfold and Use

Furniture doesn’t get any simpler than this.

These pieces of refoldable cardboard furniture are produced by Chairigami, which was founded by Zach Rotholz using nothing but $5,000 of his bar mitzvah money as capital.

Refoldable Cardboard Furniture The concept is simple: the furniture is shipped to you in a box, like most other furniture, but when you won’t find typical furniture inside, though. Instead, you’ll find more cardboard inside, although of a tougher variety, as Chairigami is made from triple-wall cardboard.

Chairigamis are basically recyclable, lightweight, and biodegradable pieces of furniture. They’re flat-packed when shipped, so they’re not bulky at all. They’re easy to assemble, too, so you don’t have to worry about that part.

Rotholz explains: “It was very grassroots. I tested and iterated as I went. A lot of the furniture ideas came from the website. People would come on the web page and give their suggestions.”

Chairigami comes in a variety of forms, ranging from chairs, to tables, to shelving, and is sold online and at the Chairigami store in Connecticut.

Kinetic Creatures: Cardboard Creations That Roam Your Living Room

Kinetic Creatures: Cardboard Creations That Roam Your Living Room

There’s a longstanding joke that kids would rather play with the cardboard box than the toy inside, but that’s especially true with these wonderful Kinetic Creatures toys. Made entirely from pre-cut cardboard, clever mechanisms inside Elly the elephant, Geno the giraffe, and Rory the rhino allow them to walk around when you crank a simple wire handle.

Refoldable Cardboard Furniture Makes It Cheap And Easy To Mosey On

When you’re moving and you have a lot of IKEA furniture, you know what you should do. You should take it apart, transport it and then put it back together on the other end. You know this. You consider this. And then you create a last minute flash sale on Craig’s List, get whatever money you can from all that MALM, and re-buy down the line. Chairigami is trying to end this cycle.

Life-sized Cardboard Gremlin: Never Get it Wet

Why would anyone ever own a Mogwai? You are just asking for trouble. Have you not seen the movies? Those cute little furballs turn into Gremlins. They are like tribbles, but deadly. Don’t ever own a Mogwai people! They will only bring you trouble.
    gremlin
This life sized Gremlin is so realistic that it should serve as a PSA warning people about the dangers of Mogwai/Gremlins. Amazingly, it was constructed entirely out of cardboard by crafter crispin23. Obviously this guy likes cigars. And clawing peoples faces off.

    gremlin1
It is amazing work. More importantly it reminds us to never get Mogwai wet, feed them after midnight or even rub their furry little tummies. Do not be fooled by their fuzziness.

Blocks Photo Series: The Adventures of a Life-sized Block Man

Have you met the Block Man? He’s a life-sized non-person who has two eyes, a nose, a mouth, a pair of arms and a pair of legs, just like you and me. The only thing is, he’s not alive, because while he has the same body parts as you and I, he’s made up of nothing but ink and cardboard.

    Blocks Photo Series

But just like Pinocchio, the Block Man has a big personality and a flair for adventure. He might not be able to do much given his made-of-cardboard-blocks state, he certainly does his best to make the most of life before he gets recycled.
