Casio C811 G’zOne spotted at the FCC

Casio’s Android offerings have typically been rather rugged handsets which might appeal to a handful of customers who need said protection. If you think that you’re in need of such a device, you might be interested to learn that a certain Casio handset has been spotted at the FCC, leading some to speculate that this could be the next-gen G’zOne with the model number C811. The full specs of the device remain somewhat of a mystery at this point in time, but some of its notable features include 4G LTE that is compatible with Verizon’s network, along with NFC support. If that is the case, there is also a chance that this might be one of the Isis-compatible handsets that Verizon could announce come Monday. In any case hopefully more details will be revealed in the near future, so check back with us at a later date for more information!

Next-gen Casio G’zOne makes it to the FCC, reveals LTE and NFC support

Image

The last Casio G’zOne handheld to come our way was the Commando, a military-grade device that marked the company’s first foray into Android smartphones. Now it seems there’s another one in the works, at least if a recent FCC filing is any indication. The Casio C811 looks to be a successor to the aforementioned Commando, with its G’zOne branding and features like WiFi and GSM world phone capabilities. Notably, the FCC document reveals the phone has Verizon-flavored LTE plus NFC support, both of which lead us to believe it’ll likely be a mid- to high-end handset. Not much else is divulged from perusing the filing, but we’re sure that whatever the C811 turns out to be, it’ll be just as tough and durable as the rest of Casio’s G’zOne offerings.

G-Shock gets the Eric Haze touch

For one and a half decades, both G-Shock as well as world-renowned graphic artist Eric Haze have come together to work on numerous projects, where among them include a quartet of highly coveted timepieces. In order to parade the fact that G-Shock has been around for 30 years in the market already, both G-Shock and Eric Haze have joined forces yet again in order to come up with a unique G-Shock timepiece which is a testament to the close partnership that exists between Haze and G-Shock.

Eric is an old hand at designing G-Shock timepieces over the years, and he also had the honor to work on G-Shock’s 25th Anniversary logo. Five years down the road, Eric also has the honor and distinct privilege to do so yet again for the 30th Anniversary of G-Shock. The logo itself is engraved on the case back of the GA110EH-8A commemorative watch, where Eric has used reinvigorating colors from previous Haze models, ensuring that the 30th Anniversary watch will come with an iridescent gray finish accompanied by red accents, so that his signature star icon logo will be able to pop off of the watchband.

This particular multi-colored design treatment will continue throughout on the dial with elements of red, black and white, further enhancing the distinct 3-dimensional effect of the layered dial.

Eric Haze said, “This collaboration speaks highly of the modern marriage of design and product, which treats premium collectable accessories as part of everyday fashion and iconography. The 30th Anniversary marks a quantum leap for Casio since the 25th Anniversary five years ago, with G-Shock’s ever-growing impact on the watch design and fashion worlds. My projects with G-Shock over the years have played a big part in my own history too, so this celebration has special meaning for me personally and professionally.”

The GA110EH-8A is one tough cookie to live up to its testament, boasting shock and magnetic resistance, 200M water resistance, auto LED light, world time (29TZ/48Citites+UTC), 4 daily alarms with 1 snooze, 1/1000th second stopwatch (100hr.) with speed indicator , countdown timer, and 12/24 hour formats. It will retail for $150 a pop if you are interested.

Casio’s Kickstand Point-and-Shoot Is the Ultimate Self-Shooter [Cameras]

Casio’s not always the first name you think of when you’re shopping for a digital camera, but occasionally the company comes up with a neat feature that might have you reconsidering that Nikon or Canon. Such is the case with its new Exilim EX-ZR1000, which makes it extra easy with not only a flip around LCD display, but also a built-in stand keeping it propped up in either portrait or landscape modes. Casio unveils new EX-H50 and EX-ZR1000 digital cameras

Casio has pulled the wraps off a pair of new digital cameras for its EXILIM line of point-and-shoot offerings. The new cameras include the EX-H50 and the EX-ZR1000. The first camera is the H50 with a resolution of 16.1-megapixels. The camera uses a 1/2.3-inch square pixel CCD and has a 24 mm wide-angle lens.

That lens supports 24x optical zoom, and the camera has a three-inch monitor on the back for viewing images. Casio integrates CCD-shift image stabilization, and the camera has a number of auto modes for taking quality photos and offers eight photo effects. The camera can also record 720p HD resolution video. Pricing and availability of the camera are unannounced.

The other camera is the ZR1000 also featuring a 24 mm wide-angle lens. The camera offers 12.5x optical zoom and has a tilting LCD on the back for better visibility. The camera is powered by Casio’s EXILIM Engine HS with the goal of eliminating lag time, blur, and camera shake. Casio promises the camera will start up in less than one second.

The camera also features a high-speed night shot mode that eliminates camera shake in dark environments supporting up to ISO 25,600. Casio gave the camera and the ability to shoot 30 frame bursts at six frames per second. The camera also has a macro mode for shooting objects close to the lens and supports HDR technology. It also has a number of automatic functions and artistic filters. Pricing and availability are also unannounced for this camera.

Casio’s Exilim EX-H50 superzooms its way to Photokina, we go hands-on (video)

Looking for a superzoom camera without the bulk of a DSLR? Casio’s Exilim EX-H50 is a pretty slick proposition. The camera’s got a reasonably slim profile that’s a bit more like an oversized point-and-shoot, slight bulk that’s presently largely because of the extended soft grip and big three-inch TFT display on the rear — and then, of course, there’s that 25 mm wide-angle lens with 24x optical zoom that certainly adds a good deal to the camera’s footprint when extended. The flash adds a bit too, but that’ll lay dormant until you pop it out via the devoted switch just to the left of the bump, on top of the camera.

The zoom is quite smooth — it certainly did the trick snapping photos of strangers socializing in the halls of the Cologne Convention Center. That three-inch screen is big, if not particularly bright, but does the trick for the camera’s fairly simple menu system, which also includes a number of filters like Fisheye, Sepia (move over Instagram) and Monochrome — the processing on each occurs after the photos are snapped. Inside, you’ve got a 16.1-megapixel sensor.

The superzoom will run €250 when it hits Europe next month.

At the end of September, Casio will release the Paper Writer, an Android tablet developed primarily for business use, which can scan handwritten documents in one action.
The case of the Paper Writer is shaped like a book cover, with space for a notepad opposite the tablet, and by closing the cover you can scan handwritten documents. Also, if a lot of documents need to be scanned, you can stand the tablet up and image documents by leafing through them in front of the case.
