Become the Ultimate Grumpy Cat With the Cat Ears Self-Defense Keychain

Grumpy cat? He’s nothing. You know you are dealing with a real mad cat when you get stabbed by their ears in a back alley somewhere. That is apparently what this self-defense keychain is all about.

It turns out that a cat’s pointy ears are a pretty effective weapon. This keychain lets you carry around a very effective stabbing tool that looks like cat ears. Meow! Die! The cat’s face comfortably fits into your hand and it comes in several colors so that it will match your outfit. I’d suggest wearing red to match the dripping blood.

It’s available from Wicked Clothes for just $5.99(USD). It is cheap, deadly and shaped like a kitty. It’s also not available in a number of states or outside of the U.S., and you must be over 18 to order due to weapons laws.

Watch A Cat Unlock The iPhone 5s Using Touch ID And The Fingerprint Sensor

cat-iphone5s-fingerprint

As you can see in the video above, Apple’s new fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5s isn’t restricted to human users. After commandeering a cat, I tested a colleague’s hypothesis that you could register the identifying skin segments of your favorite furry friends for Touch ID, too.

The cat’s paw worked, and while it encountered more frequent failures than did a fingerprint, it was able to unlock the phone again repeatedly when positioned correctly on the sensor. Note that no other paw pads would unlock the device, and that cats essentially have unique “fingerprints” just like people, so this doesn’t make the Touch ID sensor any less secure.

For the curious, I also tested the 5s fingerprint sensor on the heel of my palm, as well as on the inside of my forearm up around the wrist, and found that I could register and successfully unlock with both skin regions. Again, it was trickier to get the unlock to work consistently, and trying to fool the sensor by using the same part of the body on the opposing limb never worked.

To clarify, this isn’t a ‘hack’ of Apple Touch ID tech, like the kind a group of individuals is trying to crowdfund via the istouchidhackedyet.com covered earlier this morning by ZDNet. But it is a broadening of the definition of what counts as a “fingerprint” by the iPhone 5s scanner’s standards, so if you think your pet needs access to your accounts, feel free to register them as one of your five stored Touch ID profiles.

Procatinator: The Furry Feline Backbone of the Internet

What do you do when you procrastinate? Look at cat pictures and GIFs on the web? Really? Why, me too!

It seems like a lot of us do nothing but scour the internet for the latest feline-related funnies, so it isn’t really surprising that something like Procatinator actually exists.

procatinator 1

It’s a hilarious website that partners up a random animated kitty with an appropriate song from YouTube. Consider it a soundtrack of sorts for the cat that’s being featured in the GIF.

procatinator 3

The site was started back in 2011, so it’s definitely been there for a while now, serving up laughs and hours of mindless fun to people who constantly put off important stuff like work for later. I mean, why do it now when you can do it later?

Spoken like a true procrastinator.

Wipe Your Rear Windshield with a Cat’s Tail

Normally I silently wish a moving violation on anyone I see cruising the streets of my town with stickers of any sort on their car. I harbor particular ill will for anyone with stick-figure families adorning their vehicle. However, I have found an interesting sticker that I wouldn’t mind seeing on someone’s car over at ThinkGeek.

The sticker is officially called the Moving Tail Kitty Car Decal. The name does a very nice job of describing exactly what the sticker is all about. You actually get two cat sticker bodies with one smiling and another that looks rather like Grumpy Cat.

You place the body of the kitty around the rear windshield wiper of your vehicle. You then take another sticker that matches the kitty and apply it to the windshield wiper itself. The idea is when the windshield wiper is running it looks like the kitty is wagging its tail.

Like a cat would ever be caught performing such a menial task.

You can pick the sticker kit up at ThinkGeek for $12.99 (USD).

This Kindergarten is a Giant Cat

Kindergarten is all about having fun while learning things like your ABCs and numbers. And what could be more fun than going to school inside of a giant cat?

Die Katze in Wolfartsweier near Karlsruhe, Germany is just such a children’s school. The building is designed to look like a giant, white cat. It was designed by artist Tomi Ungerer and architect Ayla-Suzan Yöndel. The building looks like it is ready to pounce at any moment.

The circular windows at the front are the eyes and the tail in the back is actually a slide, for recess time. What kid wouldn’t love to go to school here? Inside this school has all of the usual amenities like classrooms, coatrooms, a kitchen, dining room, and a main hall.

This is definitely one way to make kids want to go to school.

Star Trek Cat Tree: Scratchship Enterclaws

How’s this for a two-for-one deal: Your cat is going to have a blast, and you get a geeky DIY project. Your mission: To create a cat-friendly model of the Enterprise and/or a Romulan Bird of Prey.

It’s the perfect excuse to name your cat Spot and put some Data makeup on for the ultimate cosplay. You know that Data would have this in his quarters for Spot if he hadn’t been so busy with all of his adventures.

See how it was built step-by-step over at Instructables. It seems like a fairly easy build for anyone who has a cat and a love of Star Trek. If I had two cats, I would build both and let them pretend to battle each other.

The Ultimate Catwalk Shows Who’s Boss

Cats know just what to purr and what to meow to get their owners to do anything. So if you own a cat, don’t look into their eyes. Don’t listen to their purrs too intently and never rub their tummies more than you have to… or you might end up like this dude who built the ultimate catwalk for his cat outside his out: cat-notized.

CatwalkThis over-the-top walkway was discovered and brought to the attention of thousands of other cat lovers by Nekomemo, a Japanese site for cat-loving dudes and dudettes. It provides your cat with a safe, caged walkway so eagles won’t be able to swoop down on him and carry him away.  (Yeah, I know, that was far-fetched. But still.)

It just goes to show that the cat is the boss and you are just his lowly servant. He’s got nine lives, you’ve got one – even Mother Nature’s against you!

Companion Cube Cat House (or Is It a Storage Cube?)

This is the Catpanion Cube, a feline residence made by Instructables member/Aperture Science vet/cat slave Rachael Whitaker. I hear that when you place your cat inside, she’ll be simultaneously dead and alive, stuck inside the dimension that the Portal gun uses to generate shortcuts. When you place your dog inside, he’ll just poop in it.

Rachael made the Catpanion Cube out of foam padding and some fabric. She held the Cube’s walls together using pins and thread. The Cube doesn’t sing though.

Open a portal to Instructables to find out how to make your own Catpanion Cube. Your cat will know that you’ll incinerate her in her sleep if she ever misbehaves.

Grumpy Cat Postage Stamps: MemeMailing

Grumpy Cat has been entertaining men and women, young and old, with his stone-faced expression ever since he hit the web. You’ve seen his memes and parody videos. You’ve seen the busts and sculptures that he’s inspired artists to create. You’ve probably already seen the Grumpy Cat-themed nail art and shirts all over the web.

And now you’re going to be seeing him on your mail pretty soon, too!

grumpy cat stamp

The postage stamp is available in three sizes and was created at  Zazzle. It’s available in a bunch of denominations, and you can choose the stamp value you want from a drop-down menu. Values start at $0.33 for mailing postcards, with the highest value at $5.60 for priority mail.

Now your mail can look just as grumpy as the postal workers delivering it.
