Gold LG G3 Reportedly Coming This Summer

Gold LG G3 Reportedly Coming This Summer

With flagships from HTC and Samsung out of the way we now looks towards LG. The company has been relatively quiet during the first few months of 2014. So far it hasn’t said much about its next flagship which will presumably be called the LG G3. Last week we exclusively reported that it is going to have a 2K display, LG later confirmed the report. It is now being said that the next flagship will be launched “in a golden hue” this summer. A purported picture of its retail packaging has also appeared online.

Dual Lens SDK For HTC One M8 Released

HTC doesn’t measure the quality of its flagship’s camera in conventional terms. Last year original HTC One came with an Ultrapixel camera and its successor stuck to this as well. Though this time around the company has made a major improvement. HTC One M8 has dual cameras which are undoubtedly touted as one of the core selling points of this device. The company isn’t restricting access to the two cameras, as promised, it has released the Dual Lens SDK Preview for HTC One M8′s Duo Camera.

Nokia Lumia 630 Dual SIM Increases Your Versatility

The Nokia Lumia 630 was announced and launched earlier this month, including the Dual SIM version, where it is said to retail for $169 during the announcement. Well, here is a closer look at the smartphone that allows you to make use of a couple of SIM cards in a single device, making it ideal for those who do a whole lot of traveling. After all, you can always keep one SIM card slot free for whatever foreign SIM card that you’re going to use, while maintaining your very own phone number in your home country.

Alternatively, how about compartmentalizing your life into work and play SIM cards? That might make it easier to differentiate between who’s able to contact you in the future. Save time and effort with the Nokia Lumia 630 Dual SIM, where this smartphone will run on the Windows Phone 8.1 platform that is capable of showing off both SIM accounts separately, labelling them clearly as 1 and 2, in addition to highlighting each with different colors so that no confusion will arise.

Not only that, another advantage of a dual SIM phone is the ability to overcome ‘not-spots’, since whenever one SIM loses its signal from the network, there is the other one which will in all probability, take over, unless you happen to be underground with tons of concrete blocking you from the outside world. Apple’s App Store Revenue In China Grew By 70%

Apples App Store Revenue In China Grew By 70%We know that Apple was eager to get their phones into China, especially when it meant that they could sign a deal with China Mobile which was not only the country’s larger carrier, but also one of the largest carriers in the world, thanks to China’s population which gave it a huge amount of customers.

Now we know that this meant that Apple could essentially sell more iPhones to the Chinese public, but it also seems that this has managed to help increase the revenue from the iTunes App Store. According to reports from apps analytics firm, App Annie, it seems that App Store revenue for China has seen an increase of 70% in Q1 2014.

According to their report, they attribute this growth to the deal that Apple struck with China Mobile. The deal was only confirmed earlier this year after it seemed that Apple was still in talks with the carrier back in 2013, so it’s actually pretty amazing to see the App Store revenue grow by that much in a relatively short amount of time.

Unfortunately while this growth looks good on paper, financially it’s still not as good as Japan. In Japan it seems that despite the country having a smaller population than China, Japanese customers are spending more on its apps compared to those in China. Perhaps as the iPhone begins to reach a wider audience and matures a bit more in the market, those numbers will change, but for now Apple will just have to make do with the 70% growth.

Alleged iPhone Case “Confirms” Repositioned Buttons

Alleged iPhone Case Confirms Repositioned ButtonsOne of the ways case manufacturers can get a jump on the competition is if they’re willing to begin producing cases for phones that haven’t been released yet. This means that the dimensions aren’t official but they are still willing to take the risk if it means that they will be the first on the market to offer up cases and accessories for a brand new device.

Now thanks to a recent photo by Nowhereelse.fr, a photo of an alleged iPhone 6 case has surfaced and based on the photos, it looks like the rumors could be right when they suggested that the iPhone 6 could see its power/sleep button repositioned. As we can see in the image above, everywhere else appears to be the same.

The volume rocker and mute switch is still placed on the left of the phone, the camera cutout is still in the same time, but interestingly enough to the right of the phone there appears to be a button which we can only presume is meant for the power/sleep button as the top right hand corner is missing any cutouts or buttons.

This photo also seems to be in line with an earlier leaked photo of yet another iPhone case which showed the repositioned button. Of course it is entirely possible that whoever made these cases are basing their designs on the rumors and alleged specifications of the phone, especially since we doubt Apple would be sharing their plans with accessory makers this early in.

We’re not sure why Apple would be moving the power/sleep button but perhaps they have rearranged the internals to accommodate the larger design, who knows, but in any case it seems that the rumors are here to stay for now, so hopefully additional information will surface later that will confirm what we’ve been seeing.

Samsung Shows Off Curved Batteries Used In The Gear Fit

Samsung Shows Off Curved Batteries Used In The Gear FitGiven the fact that the Samsung Gear Fit sports a slightly curved design, we can only assume that it also uses a curved battery. After all regular batteries might be too stiff and inflexible to be used in such a design, and recently Samsung has confirmed it as you can see in the image above.

This is according to Samsung SDI, a division of Samsung that specializes in creating displays and batteries. The battery revealed was created using V-bending and cell-stacking technology, and according to the company, the result is a curved battery that is a battery with 210 milliamp-hours that is apparently five times longer than existing wearable batteries.

At the moment the battery shown off is being used by the Gear Fit, although we’re pretty sure now that Samsung has a decently sized curved battery, we can expect to see it make its way into future curved products as well. Samsung did not mention if they were planning on mass producing these batteries for sale to other manufacturers.

In fact one of the challenges of making a curved/flexible smartphone is not only creating a flexible display, which both Samsung and LG have managed to do, but also create components that are similarly flexible as well. After all what use is a flexible smartphone if it won’t bend/flex because its components are too rigid, right?

Nokia Lumia 1020 Used To Document Underwater Diving Mission

The Nokia Lumia 1020 is quite the smartphone. Not only does it pack some pretty decent hardware under the hood, but it comes with a whopping 41MP PureView camera attached with it. While Nokia’s hardware specs might not necessarily match up with Android at the moment (there are rumors suggesting that Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 will add 2K display and Snapdragon 805 support), Nokia has made up for it with its camera technology.

Now if you’re wondering just how good and reliable Nokia’s camera technology is, it seems that it’s good enough where Nokia has teamed up with Fabien Cousteau on an underwater dive known as Mission 31, which will basically see Cousteau and his team spend 31 days underwater, a day longer than Cousteau’s grandfather did back in 1963.

Cousteau and his team will also document their entire dive using the Nokia Lumia 1020, but given that the phone isn’t water-resistant or waterproof, we can only assume it will be housed in a waterproof casing to be used during the mission. We’ve seen some pretty good photos taken with the Lumia 1020 and how it has been used to shoot fashion photography, so it will be interesting to see how it holds up in a documentary-like setting.

In the meantime Nokia is inviting users to share photos and videos of their own outdoors adventure and tag the photos with #NokiaMission31. The winner will be flown to a luxury hotel in Florida where they will be trained as an open water diver and with those skills, they will also get to participate in the dive with Cousteau himself. For more information, do check out the video above.
