ASUS PadFone Infinity Lite Launched

ASUS has an entire lineup of tablet and smartphone hybrids that it calls the PadFone. Just last month two additions were made to the lineup, the PadFone Mini and the PadFone E. Today yet another model has been launched which sticks to the core philosophy of merging together a smartphone and a tablet, while allowing users to separate the two whenever they want. Xiaomi Sets On Its Global Expansion

Ask anyone to list some of the most popular smartphone manufacturers in China and Xiaomi is bound to make it in the top three, the company is often referred to as the Apple of China. While it may not be of Cupertino’s size as yet, and it certainly doesn’t have Apple’s reach, the company has been working very hard to make a name for itself. Its quite popular in Greater China already, but now its headed to greener pastures. Spearheaded by ex-Google executive Hugo Barra, Xiaomi has set on its global expansion.

iPhone Market Share In China On The Rise [Report]

China is without a doubt a very lucrative market, Apple certainly knows that, which is why it worked for so long in trying to get its iPhones on the world’s largest mobile carrier, China Mobile. Based on data collected by research firm IDC, The Wall Street Journal reports that iPhone market share in China is steadily rising. A full one percentage point growth was witnessed in the previous quarter alone, despite the fact that sales of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on China Mobile aren’t included in these figures. Apple only inked the deal with the carrier towards end of December.

Meizu And BQ To Roll Out Ubuntu SmartphonesIt does seem as though the first of Ubuntu-powered smartphones will be introduced sometime later this year, where the manufacturer would be European designer BQ as well as Chinese phone manufacturer Meizu, where the latter has had some pretty interesting releases in the past. According to Canonical and Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth, extra details will be revealed at the upcoming Mobile World Congress that is happening in Barcelona, Spain, later this month, although there were hints that Meizu’s handset will be more or less the already released Meizu MX3, albeit it will ditch the Android platform and run on Ubuntu instead.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Lock Screen Spotted (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy S5 Lock Screen Spotted (Rumor)Some unidentified South Korean sources have hinted at a possible lock screen effect of the Samsung Galaxy S5 which has been depicted on the right. The animation allegedly ran on a Galaxy S4 smartphone, and happens to be a departure from the standard issue Ripple or Flare lock screen effect choices. Of course, there is no guarantee that this is not any mere custom animation which has arrived alongside the Android 4.4 KitKat update on the SK Telecom version of the Galaxy S4, and neither could it be a sideloaded ROM. Chances are the Samsung Galaxy S5 will most probably arrive with yet another new version of TouchWiz, and it could very well feature the new lock screen as shown as well.
