iPhone 6′s Front Cameras Could Be Provided By Sony

iPhone 6s Front Cameras Could Be Provided By SonyFor those unfamiliar with Sony’s work, the company has been instrumental with their efforts in helping Apple’s iPhone achieve great photos, thanks to the company providing CMOS sensors to both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s’ rear-facing cameras, but what about the front-facing camera? Front-facing cameras have never really gotten much attention as for the most part, they are used to take selfies or to video chat with someone, so as far as photo quality is concerned, it does not necessarily have to be the best of the best. That being said, according to a report from Nikkei, they claim that Apple could be turning to Sony for its front-facing cameras, which at the moment are supplied by OmniVision.

Presumably by going with Sony, Apple is looking to bump the quality of its front-facing cameras up a notch as well, although exactly how big a difference in quality we might expect remains to be seen. This alleged deal is also expected to see Sony raising its production of sensors to 200 million per year just to Apple alone, an increase of 100% from its 100 million sensors per year which the company currently provides to Apple. To help cope with the extra work load, Sony has reportedly acquired a Japanese chip producer to help increase production by 25%.

iPhone 6 Could Feature Bezel-Free Display

iPhone 6 Could Feature Bezel Free DisplayAccording to the latest rumors, Apple will not be using sapphire for its iPhone 6 after all as the material will apparently be used for the rumored iWatch instead, and with that being said, what can we expect from the iPhone 6 in terms of display then? According to The Korea Herald, it seems that come the iPhone 6, we can look forward to the device sporting a bezel-free display which you can see in the mockup above. By removing the bezels on the side of the iPhone, it will allow Apple to create a device with a larger display, but at the same time will not be too big and could still be used with one hand.

We have seen Apple attempt to move away from bezels with the iPad mini where the bezels were noticeably thinner, and the iPad Air whose bezels were reduced significantly compared to its predecessors. Based on this, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple did the same with the iPhone 6, or at least had plans to do something like that. We have also seen Android OEMs attempt to create devices with thin bezels as well as it helps create the illusion of a larger phone without the added bulk, but will Apple be the first smartphone manufacturer to truly achieve a bezel-free look? We guess we will have to wait and see, but until then take it with a grain of salt for now.

HTC M8 Picture Leaks Yet Again

HTC M8 Picture Leaks Yet Again

The HTC M8 happens t0 be one of the most highly anticipated smartphones expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in a couple of weeks. There have already been a lot of rumors and leaks about the HTC One successor, and we have already seen a few purported pictures being leaked in the past. Today, once again, yet another HTC M8 picture has leaked online, providing us yet another glimpse at what might possibly be the Taiwanese manufacturer’s next generation smartphone.

This particular HTC M8 picture has been leaked by a Twitter account going by @htcfamily_ru, this source has leaked similar images in the past as well. One rather interesting detail is seen in this image, alongside the top speaker grill to be precise. It appears that the HTC M8 has a notification LED, which is housed between the front camera and speaker. This has not been noticed in previous images. Even though the image itself comes from a Russian Twitter account, it seems to have originated from China. HTC has obviously not confirmed anything as yet about its next generation smartphone, so we have to sit tight until at least MWC 2014 to be absolutely sure of what this device has to offer.

Flappy Bird Scammers Set To Snare Unsuspecting Victims

Flappy Bird Scammers Set To Snare Unsuspecting VictimsFlappy Bird, the hugely popular game that has been pulled down by its creator, Dong Nguyen, from all app stores across various platforms for “our own good”, is still basking in the limelight at least for now. Apparently, as Dong Nguyen announced the relatively early “death” of Flappy Birds, this does not mean that the game itself will lose its popularity. On the contrary, it seems that anything that has to do with Flappy Bird these days is on the rise. This has led scam artists to capitalize on the situation via the introduction of Flappy Bird clones – albeit with a twist, of course. These malicious apps tend to look like the original, but it was specially programmed so that users will send premium rate text messages without them knowing any better.

Trend Micro mentioned, “All of the fake versions we’ve seen so far are premium service abusers – apps that send messages to premium numbers, thus causing unwanted charges to victims’ phone billing statements.” How do you know that your Flappy Bird installer is a legit one? Apparently, the malicious app version would make a request for additional read/send text messages permissions during installation, whereas the original does not need such permissions.

Monkey Spotted In Hot Spring Alongside Smartphone

Monkey Spotted In Hot Spring Alongside SmartphoneNow here is an image that you might find it difficult to forget afterwards – that of a monkey, dipping itself in a hot spring in Japan. Sounds and looks pretty normal? Actually, there is more to the image than this. Apparently, the monkey, just like us humans, have some unfinished business on its smartphone, which leads us to see it appear in a hot spring with smartphone in paw. Interestingly enough, when you want to express that something is extremely simple in Japanese, it translates to “Even a monkey is able to understand it.” Imagine applying this phrase in the literal context with this unique photo!

iPhone 6 Sapphire Screen Rumors Contradicted

iPhone 6 Sapphire Screen Rumors Contradicted

Over the past couple of weeks there have been countless rumors about the iPhone 6 sapphire screen and how Foxconn has already manufactured prototype units that use said sapphire screen instead of Corning’s Gorilla Glass. There is still a lot of time left till Apple is due to unveil its next generation iPhone, if it decides to stick with conventional release cycles, but the influx of rumors continues at a constant pace. Chatter coming in from Taiwan suggests that cost is one major factor deterring Apple from using sapphire screens in the iPhone 6, which is why it has apparently made the decision to not go down this road.
