64-Bit Octa-Core BlackBerry Device Planned For 2015 [Rumor]

64 Bit Octa Core BlackBerry Device Planned For 2015 [Rumor]BlackBerry and Foxconn have recently teamed up and are expected to produce a slew of BlackBerry-related products at an affordable price, but what about BlackBerry customers who are looking forward to something higher end? What if BlackBerry users wanted a phone that would be able to rival the likes of Android? Well according to the rumors, BlackBerry users could get their wish as soon as 2015 as the folks at N4BB have claimed that according to their sources, BlackBerry could be planning a 64-bit octa-core handset for next year. Based on their report, the alleged device will be powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8994 chipset which is a octa-core 64-bit chipset with the potential to hit up to 2.5GHz per core with a 4MB L2 cache.

Other features of the MSM8994 include 1600MHz 4GB RAM LPDDR3 PoP and will come with an Adreno 430 500MHz GPU. Unfortunately the specs of the phone (or phones) that BlackBerry will use the MSM8994 with remain unknown, but it’s good to know that despite reports of BlackBerry axing plans for newer BlackBerry 10 devices that they have not completely given up on developing higher-end phones at the same time. In fact the recently leaked BlackBerry Ontario would be proof of that. In any case who else is looking forward to a 64-bit octa-core BlackBerry handset in 2015?

Nokia Rumored To Announce New Hardware Brand

Nokia Rumored To Announce New Hardware BrandBack in September last year, Microsoft announced that they would be acquiring Nokia’s cellphone business for a cool $7.17 billion. The deal is expected to conclude sometime this year and according to one of NPU’s tipsters, they have suggested that the deal could be officially closed around the time MWC 2014 kicks off, which is towards the end of this month. The deal was originally supposed to be closed when Nokia’s Q4 results were announced, but it looks like that did not happen.

Interestingly enough, NPU’s sources have also revealed that after the deal has been officially closed, Nokia could make a new announcement in which a new hardware brand could be revealed. We have heard how Nokia has plans for wearables, a smartwatch to be exact, which could be launched as soon as 2014, and that this new brand that Nokia is planning on announcing will be related to Nokia’s smartwatch efforts. That should be pretty interesting as we’re sure many are wondering what Nokia will be getting up to once they sell off their handset division to Microsoft. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but with MWC 2014 around the corner, we guess we might not have to wait too long to see if the rumors pan out.

    Flexible And Transparent Conductor Invented

Flexible And Transparent Conductor InventedConsumer electronics devices that are able to bend? That sounds like an extremely interesting proposition for sure, and it has yet to catch on, but we have seen some examples in recent times such as the LG G Flex (which is also a self-healing handset, at least for its exterior case). This just goes to show how the likes of LG has already managed to achieve a bendable display to a certain extent as depicted above, but a team of scientists at the University of Houston might be on to something better this time around. This bunch of researchers have managed to figure out a way to use a gold nanomesh material in order to create a flexible, conductive and transparent surface for electronics. Sounds too good to be true, right?

Nokia Lumia Icon Spotted In Inventory Listing

Nokia Lumia Icon Spotted In Inventory ListingThe upcoming Nokia Lumia Icon device has had its fair share of leaks and rumors to date, which is not surprising considering how there seems to be a rising demand for this particular Verizon Wireless exclusive smartphone which will run on the Windows Phone 8 platform. The kind of hardware specifications in which you would find on the Nokia Lumia Icon would not be too far away from the likes of existing flagship models such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, where a generous 5” display would certainly be more than easy on your eyes. A leaked inventory listing for Verizon does point to the Nokia Lumia Icon arriving later this February 19 in white and black shades, while accessories for it (such as a case, which has already leaked out) look set to arrive a day after that.

Sony Xperia Sirius D6503 Screenshots Leaked

Sony Xperia Sirius D6503 Screenshots LeakedWhenever a particular device is about to roll out officially, you can be very sure that there will be leaks which appear as part of the equation. After all, the proliferation of smartphones with high resolution cameras have also done their bit to encourage opportunities to introduce spyshots, although most of the time, these leaked shots tend to be blurry. Here is another screenshot of the Sony Xperia Sirius D6503 – not of the phone, actually, but rather, the 4K video app, where the source also points to a Timeshift video app and the Creative Effect camera app. These features also do seem to be part of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update that will arrive on the Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact as well as Xperia Z Ultra as a sidenote, and this same version of the Android operating system too, is tipped to appear on the Xperia Sirius D6503 when it arrives.

Verizon Slashes Activation Fees, Launches Limited Time Trade In Deals

Its no secret that competition among U.S. mobile operators has been steadily heating up, with T-Mobile lighting many of the fires through its “uncarrier” announcements. At one point even AT&T felt the need to retaliate, offering customers up to $450 just to switch over from Magenta. It was rumored that the country’s largest mobile operator, Verizon Wireless, is going to offer $100 credit to customers towards their bill provided that they add a new line within the next three weeks. Verizon has launched a couple of new promotions, but they’re not exactly what have previously been rumored.

Samsung SM-W750 Windows Phone Drops By The FCC

Samsung SM W750 Windows Phone Drops By The FCC

One can be excused if they believe that Samsung only makes Android smartphones. The company is known around the world for the low-end, mid-range and high-end smartphones that it develops, all of which run on Google’s mobile operating system. Samsung’s Windows Phone devices aren’t that popular when compared to Nokia’s Lumia lineup, moreover, the company doesn’t exactly make dozens of WP smartphones every year. After quite a while, Samsung and Verizon have reportedly teamed up to develop a Windows Phone smartphone. Carrying model number SM-W750V, Samsung’s new WP smartphone has now made the compulsory layover at the FCC.

Flappy Birds Wings Might Be Clipped Soon

Flappy Bird has become a global sensation within a very short time. This retro styled game, which has purposefully been developed to be extremely challenging and blood pressure raising has had a great run, but it appears that Flappy Bird’s wings might be getting clipped soon. Developer Dong Nguyen has announced via Twitter that he is going to shut the game down and remove it from the App Store and Google Play Store. This decision has got nothing to do with legal issues, he says, apparently he just “cannot take this anymore.”
