Nexus 5 Launcher Could Soon Be Released

Nexus 5 Launcher Could Soon Be ReleasedWhen Google launched the Nexus 5, one of the features that many users noticed was a revamped launcher. At that time there were many who did not own the Nexus 5 who wanted to check out the launcher, but unfortunately it seemed that the launcher would be a Nexus 5 exclusive, but thanks to recent reports and speculation, it looks like Google could be coming closer to releasing the Nexus 5’s launcher to the public. The speculation that Google could release the launcher to the public was fuelled by the fact that the launcher had been renamed to the “Google Now” launcher, where previously it was known as the “Google Experience”.

There was also the case when the folks at Droid-Life attempted to sideload the launcher and were prompted by the launcher, asking if they wanted to import settings from a different launcher, which might be a weird question to ask if the launcher is to remain as a Nexus 5 exclusive, right? Now the good news is that if you can’t wait for Google to release the launcher (if and when they do), you will be able to sideload it manually, so hit up Droid-Life for the download link and instructions. So, who’s looking forward to installing the Nexus 5′s launcher on their Android device?

Apple Removes Bitcoin Wallet App From Store

Apple Removes Bitcoin Wallet App From StoreBitcoin, for those unfamiliar, is a form of virtual currency which some out there hope will become a legal and widely accepted currency in the future. It may or may not be the currency of the future but as it stands, there is a lot of interest in it at the moment where prices of individual bitcoins have been valued over $1,000. That being said, it would seem that Apple is not a fan of the virtual currency, or at least that’s what they seem to be letting people believe. The Cupertino company has recently removed a bitcoin wallet called Blockchain from its App Store. (more…)

Wingman App Lets You Flirt With Plane Passengers

Wingman App Lets You Flirt With Plane PassengersWe’re sure there are times when you take the plane and you notice someone attractive, and you tell yourself, wouldn’t it be nice if I could just go up to him/her and just say hi? Unfortunately not everyone is socially adept at chatting up random strangers without coming across as creepy, which is why Buzzfeed copywriter, Gabe Whaley, created an app called Wingman, which has been likened as the Tinder for airlines. According to Whaley in an interview with ANIMAL, “I’m pretty sure that at some point, anyone who’s flown has had a thought like, ‘I wonder what it would be like to talk to that person. Too bad it’s never going to happen, because the seating arrangement didn’t provide for that.’”

Like we said the app will function like Tinder, which pulls profiles from people near you, or in this case people in the same flight as you. Of course chances of people using the app on the same flight as you might be pretty slim, but it could be a great way to pass the time. The app will rely on either WiFi or Bluetooth to work, and while Wingman has yet to be approved by Apple, those interested can hit up the Wingman website to get notified on its progress. In the meantime what do you guys think? Perhaps those long flights don’t have to be so lonely after all.

Microsoft Will Trade Nokia Lumia Devices For Non-Windows Phone Handsets

Microsoft Will Trade Nokia Lumia Devices For Non Windows Phone HandsetsJust the other day we saw how aggressive Microsoft was when it came to trying to get people to hop on board the Windows bandwagon. Perhaps back in the day Microsoft needn’t have concerned themselves as much, but with the mobile competition getting stiffer with each passing day, companies are resorting to all sorts of tactics to get users to use their products. Well it looks like Microsoft’s offer is still ongoing as they have revealed a new promotion where they will happily accept your old iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or a Samsung Galaxy S2.

In exchange Microsoft will give you a Nokia Lumia 1020 or a Lumia 1520. There is some fine print involved and that is the deal is only available in the US and Puerto Rico and you will need to find a Microsoft retail outlet in order to take part in the deal. The promotion also requires that your phone be in working condition and that you trade-in all your original accessories as well. Lastly since both the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520 are exclusive to AT&T, you will need to sign with the carrier in order to receive the device. However for those looking for a new smartphone and a new plan, this offer does seem to be pretty worth it, so for more information, hit up Microsoft’s website.

However, there are times in life when what seems to be new (but actually isn’t) comes again to capture the imagination of the masses, and Flappy Bird happens to be one of those games. LG G3 Could Pose A Strong Challenge To The Samsung Galaxy S5

LG G3 Could Pose A Strong Challenge To The Samsung Galaxy S5We do know that Samsung have been preparing to hold a new Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress this coming February 24, and chances are pretty high that they will use that particular event to unveil the much talked about Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship. Of course, a flagship device does not automatically mean that it will do well in the market, as there are other factors to think of such as market sentiment in addition to products from rivals. Its South Korean rival, LG, has some tricks up their sleeves as well, and as good as the LG G2 (as seen above) is at the moment, you can bet your bottom dollar that the future successor to this handset, tipped to be known as the LG G3 as at press time, will come packed with even more technology underneath the hood.

HTC Exec Casts Doubt On Leaked HTC M8 Photo

HTC Exec Casts Doubt On Leaked HTC M8 PhotoYesterday we caught a glimpse of a photo which is allegedly that of the upcoming HTC M8. Based on its design, it looked more or less like the HTC One except with dual LED flashes and a dual camera setup, however as the rumors did claim that the HTC M8 would be similar in design to the HTC One, we did not think much of it. However it looks like the skeptics could be right this time as to whether the photo could be real or fake, thanks to a recent tweet by Mark Moons. Mark Moons is HTC’s regional director for the Benelux area of Europe and according to a cryptic post on his Twitter, he writes, “Somebody has been photo shopping….”

Moons does not directly reference the recently leaked photo, but many speculate that could be what he is referring to. Assuming that is the case, chances are the photo we saw just yesterday might not be the real deal after all. We’re not sure which part might be photoshopped, could it be the dual LED flashes? Could it be the dual camera setup? Or could it be the entire design itself? In any case make what you will of it, but like we said in our previous post, there is always the chance that these leaked photos could be fake, but do check back with us during MWC 2014 where hopefully more official details about the HTC M8 will be revealed!
