Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom Shows Up In Import Data (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom Shows Up In Import Data (Rumor)Over the past week, we have heard plenty about the Samsung Galaxy S5, and have even come up with a round up story on all the possible angles that this upcoming flagship device will be able to take. Well, earlier this morning we also reported on the multiple Galaxy S5 variants that might make their way to the market eventually, and this time around, Indian import data of a certain SM-C115 “mobile camera” device has appeared, showing that this device is currently undergoing some testing in India. A “mobile camera” does point to the very real possibility of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom, which would continue off from where the Galaxy S4 Zoom (as depicted above) left off.

LG Optimus L1 II Tri Does The Triple SIM Dance

LG Optimus L1 II Tri Does The Triple SIM DanceHmmm, when you have a handset with a name like the LG Optimus L1 II Tri, you start to wonder just what the heck is it all about. Why not throw in the word “quad” at the end of it? Then you would end up with the LG Optimus L1 II Tri Quad to denote a quad-core processor, now how about that? Anyways, back to reality, the LG Optimus L1 II Tri is part of the Optimus series with the capability of supporting up to a trio of SIM cards, and as the user, you will be able to switch between them using a dedicated key.

    FiftyThree Files Trademark For “Paper”

FiftyThree Files Trademark For PaperEarlier we reported that the developers of the popular drawing app Paper, FiftyThree, wrote on their blog that they were disappointed that Facebook had decided to use the same name for its own social network app. Given that both apps are different in their functions, it would be hard to mistake one app for the other, but FiftyThree was not happy anyway. At that time it was unclear what FiftyThree would do about it, but according to the folks at TechCrunch, it looks like FiftyThree could soon to taking legal action as they have filed for a trademark for the app on the same day that Facebook’s Paper app was launched.

However even if FiftyThree filed for the trademark, it does not necessarily mean that they will win whatever lawsuit they might throw at Facebook. After all the “Paper” name is rather generic, not to mention both apps function very differently. If both apps were drawing/art apps then perhaps it might be a different story, but that is not the case here. It should also be noted that FiftyThree was not the first developer to call their app “Paper”. There is another app on the iTunes App Store by developer miSoft who claims to be the first app to have the “Paper” moniker, but due to glitches in the system, it allowed other developers to create similar sounding apps as well. Whatever the case is, we hope it all ends amicably.

Samsung SM-W750V Might Feature 720p Display, Not 1080p

Samsung SM W750V Might Feature 720p Display, Not 1080pWord on the street has it that Samsung has a new Windows Phone in the works called the “Huron”, also known by its model number SM-W750V. We recently saw the device in a leaked photo and while it had originally been speculated that the handset would feature a Full HD 1080p display, newly leaked benchmark results have suggested that it would be come with a 720p HD display instead. This is according to the benchmark results from GFXBench where it revealed that the Samsung SM-W750V would come with a 1280×720 resolution, instead of 1920×1080.

However it seems that there is also some dispute between the actual size of the display. Some are claiming the handset will sport a 4.3-inch display, while others claim that it will come with a 5-inch display. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a 720p HD display, the fact of the matter is that Full HD is more or less the standard these days and we’re sure that customers would much prefer a higher resolution. However if Samsung’s goal is to create a budget and affordable Windows Phone handset, taking the 720p HD route would make sense. In any case hopefully we will hear more about the Samsung SM-W750V soon, so until then take it with a grain of salt, but are any of our readers out there disappointed by the 720p HD display?

HTC To Modify Some Of Its Devices After Nokia Lawsuit

HTC To Modify Some Of Its Devices After Nokia LawsuitBack in early 2013, Nokia filed a lawsuit against HTC alleging that the Taiwanese company had infringed upon its patents. So far Nokia has been successful with their lawsuit against HTC, winning an injunction against the company’s devices and further pursuing them in international markets, such as France. Well it looks like HTC has decided that perhaps modifying their handsets would be a better solution rather than to keep fighting it out in the courts, and in a filing at the Taiwan Stock Exchange, HTC said, “We are investigating modifications for our handsets to remove this redundant technology.”

HTC expects that there will be little disruption to the company and their customers during the period in which they modify their handsets. It is unclear if there might be some stock shortage during this process, but then again we expect many customers could be holding back from purchasing older HTC devices in favor of the upcoming HTC M8, but we guess we will have to wait and see. Hopefully the modifications that HTC makes will not infringe upon any of Nokia’s other patents, although the smart thing would probably to take out a licensing deal with Nokia which might pay off in the long run.

iPhone 6 Rumored To Feature Upgraded Camera

iPhone 6 Rumored To Feature Upgraded CameraAccording to alleged leaked specifications the other day, the iPhone 6 is said to feature an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 3.2MP front-facing camera, essentially keeping the same camera specs as the iPhone 5s. Admittedly that’s not a bad thing as Apple’s iPhone cameras are pretty good, but at the same time as far as playing the numbers game is concerned, it does not look as good on paper compared to the competition. With that being said, a new report from IT168 claims to have information about the iPhone 6’s camera, and that instead of an 8MP camera, the iPhone 6 is said to feature a 10MP camera.

The camera will also sport a wider aperture at f/1.8 versus f/2.2 which is the aperture at the moment. A wider aperture will allow for faster image capture as well as brighter images under low-light settings. The report also goes on to claim that Apple will be changing the filter used in the camera and will replace the hybrid IR filter with a resin lens filter manufactured by Japanese company, JSR. These new filters are said to be thinner and lighter and can take clearer images due to its ability to minimize the color shifts of CMOS image sensors. If anything this definitely sounds like a welcome upgrade to the iPhone’s camera but given that it is a rumor, do take it with a grain of salt for now.

HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 With Sense 5.5 ROM Available

HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 With Sense 5.5 ROM AvailableIts no secret that Android users often have to wait for a long time before OEMs released latest firmware updates. There are several steps involved in preparing an update for public release, which often holds it up for a long time. While HTC has talked about the KitKat roadmap for few of its devices, most presumably won’t receive the update till March or April. This is where the developer community has come in. Folks over at XDA forums have ported a stock Android 4.4.2 ROM from HTC One and ported it to the Butterfly, a.k.a Droid DNA.

HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 With Sense 5.5 ROM Available

Since HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4.2 ROM with Sense 5.5 UI is a port, software features found on the HTC One will also be available in this ROM. Moreover, the ROM isn’t pre-rooted, though users won’t have a hard time rooting it once they’ve flashed it on their Droid DNA. There’s support for both CDMA and GSM standards, with odexed and deodexed builds being provided along with a patch to enable CDMA. Those feeling adventurous enough to flash this port on their device can get their hands on the ROM from here. Since this is an unofficial port after all, the possibility exists that everything might not be in absolutely perfect working order.
