Huawei Has Trio Of New Processors In The Pipeline

Huawei Has Trio Of New Processors In The PipelineHuawei has rolled out its fair share of mobile devices in the past, but this time around the company CEO, a certain Richard Yu, did mention that they have a trio of new processors that ought to debut in due time. Out of the three, there will be a single quad-core processor, in addition to a pair of octa-core processors. The octa-core chip itself will be a 64-bit processor, where it will rely on the big.LITTLE architecture, coming with just a single set of 4 cores that are active at any one time. This particular chipset will boast of a Cortex A-57 and a Cortex A-53, where the latter will see action when it comes to light housekeeping, while the former will perform all the heavy lifting.

iTrace App Teaches Kids The Importance Of Handwriting

iTrace App Teaches Kids The Importance Of HandwritingGiven that we’re used to writing up reports, sending out messages, clocking in reminders, and more using our electronic devices, the skill of penmanship could slowly become a thing of the past. I remember back in the day where schools taught kids how to write not just normally, but had classes where we were taught how to write beautifully as well, such as the intricateness of cursive writing, for example. Well it seems that handwriting is still an important skill to possess as one dad claims through his creation of the iTrace handwriting app. Developed by Michael Bogorad, he claims that the app was born from his need to teach his children how to write properly. Starbucks Mobile Payment App Stores Credentials As Plain Text Files

Starbucks Mobile Payment App Stores Credentials As Plain Text FilesThere is a lot of concern over the security of our personal data these days, what with the NSA spying on us and retailers like Target and Neiman Marcus having their security compromised and customer data stolen, so the last thing we really need is to find out that your daily trips to Starbucks could potentially end up costing you more than a venti-sized iced caramel macchiato. According to Daniel Wood, a security researcher, he found that the Starbucks mobile payment app is actually not as secure as you might think. In fact it was found that the mobile payment app actually stores your personal data, like GPS location, passwords, email, addresses, and etc. all in a plain text file, meaning that anyone with access to your phone and a computer will have no problems retrieving the information.

This was an issue with the app back in 2013 which the company has claimed to have improved upon, but Wood found out that was not the case as the information was still just as accessible as before. Starbucks has since confirmed and acknowledged the security flaw to Computerworld but reassures customers that they have security measures in place and that usernames and passwords are safe. We’re sure many would have thought the same of Target and Neiman Marcus as well, but the recent events have proven otherwise. In any case hopefully Starbucks will be addressing this issue (again) soon for the sake of coffee drinkers around the world.

52% Of Windows Phone Users Use Bing For Search

52% Of Windows Phone Users Use Bing For SearchWhen it comes to search engines, which do you ultimately prefer? Google? Yahoo? Bing? Well for Windows Phone users, a survey conducted has found that Bing is being used by 52% of Windows Phone users based on their findings back in Q4 2013. This is apparently a drop from 58% in Q3 2014, but still significantly higher compared to the desktop search market share. So why is Bing so popular on Windows Phone devices? Well obviously because it is the default search engine and is built into the phone itself, meaning that for better or worse, Windows Phone users will use Bing by default, unless of course they choose to load up Google or Yahoo before searching.

Given that sometimes mobile internet speeds can be slow, depending on coverage, searching using the default search engine might be faster than loading up a different search engine, and then using it to search, which is a multiple step process. Similar to how one might use the search bar built into Android to fire up a quick search rather than launch the Chrome app and then searching through it. However the fact that the number has decreased from 58% to 52% would suggest that Windows Phone users are starting to switch, although it was not mentioned whether they might be switching to either Yahoo or Google.

In fact it was recently that Yahoo tried to make their presence felt on Android by acquiring Aviate, an Android launcher which will presumably come with Yahoo’s search and services installed, essentially overriding Google’s own search and weather services.

    Original HTC One Prototype Revealed

Original HTC One Prototype RevealedWe’re sure most of you guys know by now that all the products we see in the market today are typically the result of multiple revisions and changes made over the course of its development. After all we doubt many products kept its original design, and the HTC One is no different. Released back in 2013, the HTC one was an interesting handset and featured an aluminum build which was a nice change compared to the use of plastic. It featured front-facing stereo speakers which made for a nicer experience when watching videos on your phone, and packed an interesting Ultrapixel camera which did away with the megapixel race that other OEMs seemed to be aiming for.

Well thanks to the folks at Engadget, they have managed to get an exclusive look at the HTC One prototype which has finally broken cover after about a year. Needless to say apart from the back of the device, the front of the prototype is nothing like the final product as it does seem to be missing the stereo speakers. The photos also show that HTC had long planned on shifting the home button to the right side, a somewhat controversial move, although in the final product the HTC logo replaced the multitasking soft key. The prototype also appeared to be a little fatter due to the screen protruding slightly. In any case if you’d like to check out the rest of the photos, be sure to hit up Engadget’s website for the details!

6tindr For Windows Phone Now Available For Download

6tindr For Windows Phone Now Available For DownloadWindows Phone owners, if you’re looking to get your hands on a dating app on your phone, you’re in luck because Rudy Huyn has officially released his 6tindr app! For those hearing about this for the first time, 6tindr is Huyn’s unofficial app for Tinder on Windows Phone. A few days ago Huyn teased that the app was near completion and now it looks like it can be downloaded from the Windows Phone store for those who are interested! Huyn is pretty popular as far as Windows Phone developers are concerned and has in the past released unofficial apps for big-name apps such as Instagram and Vine, just to name a few. He has also released his own original apps as well which have gotten some pretty positive feedback, so while we’re not sure if Tinder will ever release an official Windows Phone app, you will at least have Huyn’s version.

For those who might be unfamiliar with Tinder, it’s a matchmaking app designed for mobile devices. What makes it different from other online dating or matchmaking services is that you are not allowed to message the other person unless both of you “like” each others profile. That way both of you admit there is some form of mutual attraction which might make it easier, as opposed to having to fend off spam messages from multiple random strangers who might not necessarily be your type. 6tindr is a free download so if you have a couple of minutes and want to see what all the fuss is about, take it for a spin!

iPhone 5c Could Be Unintentionally Driving Customers To The iPhone 5s

iPhone 5c Could Be Unintentionally Driving Customers To The iPhone 5sThe iPhone 5c was created by Apple to be a slightly cheaper alternative to those who might not be able to afford the iPhone 5s, or who would rather save money and get something cheaper instead. Prior to the phone being announced, some were speculating that the iPhone 5c would be a budget version intended for developing markets and while it is admittedly cheaper, calling it a budget device is far from the truth. So far the phone has not had much success, to the point where Apple reportedly halted its production in favor of the iPhone 5s. Well as it turns out, the iPhone 5c was something of a success, although perhaps not in the way Apple and many others had imagined.

According to reports from Consumer Intelligence Research, compared to the iPhone 4 when it was the mid-ranged option a year ago, the iPhone 5c is grabbing less market share. However what they did find interesting was how the iPhone 5s grabbed more market share than the iPhone 5 did, suggesting that the iPhone 5c could be driving customers to the iPhone 5s! Given that the phone is not that much cheaper, perhaps some customers are thinking that they don’t mind paying the difference in price for a more “premium” phone. Of course it could be a coincidence but either way, we doubt that this was the way Apple envisioned it, but still a pretty nice side effect anyway.
