Get 50GB Free Amazon Cloud Drive Storage With Purchase Of Select Android Phones

There are a lot of ways to purchase a smartphone. Third-party retailers are well stocked, carrier retail stores have them, in most cases the manufacturers have their own stores and then there’s always the easy option of purchasing online. Amazon wants you to purchase your next Android smartphone through it, which is why it is offering 50GB of free Amazon Cloud Drive storage with purchase of select Android smartphones. These “select” smartphones include over 100 carrier branded devices. The list of devices easily includes almost all of the popular recent Android smartphones that have been released over the past few months.

It is very easy to avail this offer. Simply purchase the smartphone of your choice from Amazon, and wait for the free storage to appear, Amazon says it should appear within ten days of purchase. The free 50GB of cloud storage will be added on top of the 5GB that’s already provided for free with purchase of every smartphone. That’s a catch though. The free 50GB storage is only valid for one year. Amazon won’t delete your data immediately once the 12 months are over, however if you want to retain the storage, you will have to pay up or else you will have to make alternate arrangements for your data.

Nokia Lumia 1020 Used As Wedding Camera

Nokia Lumia 1020 Used As Wedding CameraWhen it comes to digital photography, we all know that our smartphones cannot really hold a candle to a dedicated digital camera, what more a DSLR. However, the folks over at Nokia have been working pretty hard to overcome that particular notion among us consumers, especially with their most recent flagship, the Nokia Lumia 1020. After all, when the Nokia Lumia 1020 happens to be the most popular Nokia camera on Flickr, it does go some lengths to let you know just how good it is, right? So much so that celebrity photographer Joy Marie Smallwood relied on a Nokia Lumia 1020 to shoot a wedding which recently happened at Capella Pedregal in Cabo, Mexico.

Joy Marie shared, “The quality of the photos we took at the Cabo wedding using the Lumia 1020 were crisp with a great depth of colour and totally exceeded our expectations. The 41-megapixel sensor is pretty outstanding for a camera phone.” We are pretty impressed with the results shown by the Nokia Lumia 1020, but I still think it would be best to rely on a full frame DSLR to capture everything about your big day right, how about you? If you love experimenting, then use the Lumia 1020 as a back up camera for the second photographer.

iPhone Launch On China Mobile Might Add $10 Billion In Yearly Apple Revenue

iPhone Launch On China Mobile Might Add $10 Billion In Yearly Apple Revenue

Over the past few months there has been a lot of speculation about the launch of the new iPhones on China Mobile. The world’s largest mobile carrier, with over 700 million subscribers, has never officially carried the iPhones. Its rivals in the country, China Unicom and China Telecom, have been doing so for quite some time now. Both the carrier and Apple intend to launch iPhones, and according to an analyst, the launch might add $10 billion in additional yearly revenue for Apple, amounting to an increase of $3 earnings per share in Apple’s stock.

Amit Daryanani, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets, bases this prediction on the forecast of 17 million iPhones being sold on China Mobile. Average selling price is expected to be $560 per unit with an operating margin of 30 percent. Out of the roughly 755 million subscribers that China Mobile has, 170 million have subscribed to its 3G service. 17 million iPhones sales would mean that Apple will be able to penetrate into 10 percent of China Mobile’s high-speed data subscriber base. Daryanani predicts that this launch may end up increasing Apple’s market in China by 1.8 times, and as more subscribers get on the high-speed data bandwagon, the more growth in customers will be witnessed. China today issued commercial 4G licenses to carriers, including China Mobile, which means that its service can finally go live on December 18th as predicted.

Nokia’s New Video Highlights How The Lumia 1520 Was Made Using Recycled CDs

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is the Finnish company’s latest handset, and also its biggest with a display measuring 6” in size. Just like the rest of Nokia’s lineup, save for the Lumia 925, the Lumia 1520 features a polycarbonate body. Some have criticized Nokia’s choice of using plastics, instead of more “premium” materials like glass and aluminum, but it turns out that Nokia’s choice has to do with sustainability as well. The company has recently released a video on YouTube in which it illustrates how Nokia has given CDs a new lease on life by recycling them, transforming them into polycarbonate, which is then used in devices like the Lumia 1520.

For those who are particular about sustainability and using conflict-free materials, we suppose this could be a pretty important deciding factor. We’re not sure if this is a make or break decision for customers, but it’s still nice to know that the company you’re buying into cares about the environment. In any case if you have a minute or two to spare, you can check out the rather cute animation in the video above.

Samsung Expected To Unveil Up To 5 Devices In Q1 2014 [Rumor]

Samsung Expected To Unveil Up To 5 Devices In Q1 2014 [Rumor]According to the rumors, Q1 of 2014 looks to be a pretty busy time of the year for Samsung. So far we have learnt that the South Korean tech giant will be planning on announcing the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Grand Lite, and the Galaxy Note 3 Lite in the early part of the year, but now according to South Korean publication, ETNews, Samsung will have 5 devices to debut at the start of the year. Three of the devices have already been mentioned, and with the remaining two said to be entry-mid-level devices. Unfortunately apart from the rumors and alleged leaked specifications of the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Grand Lite, and Galaxy Note 3 Lite, not much else is known about the remaining two handsets.

If there is an opportunity for Samsung to announce these devices, chances are we could be looking at CES 2014 or MWC 2014. However Samsung has typically preferred to announce its flagship devices at their own events, so chances are that CES and MWC are probably our best bet to learn about the other devices. Obviously since nothing has been confirmed yet, do take it with a grain of salt for now, but if they are true, exciting times are just around the corner.
