The Samsung Galaxy S5 is anything but a disappointing phone, and we guess all the hype, expectations, and rumors was what contributed to customers and fans feeling a little let down when the actual device was unveiled.

There was talks about a possible metal build which did not pan out. There was also talks about a possible use of a QHD display which did not pan out, but now thanks to recent benchmark sightings, a certain Samsung SM-G906S with a 2560×1440 display has been spotted. (more…)

During MWC 2014, BlackBerry announced two handsets, the BlackBerry Z3 and the BlackBerry Q20. If anything, the BlackBerry Z3 sounds like a more modern handset with full touchscreen capabilities, while the BlackBerry Q20 reminded us more of the Bold 9900 rather than the BlackBerry Q10.

However we’re basing this on what BlackBerry’s CEO, John Chen, said about the device, like how it would come with an integrated trackpad and feature a tool belt of hardware buttons alongside a QWERTY keyboard. This is compared to the Q10 which did away with the trackpad and tool belt of buttons and only kept the QWERTY keyboard. (more…)

During yesterday’s presentation that the Microsoft BUILD conference, the Redmond company took the wraps off its Windows Phone 8.1 update that will be released for Windows Phone 8 handsets. They also introduced several new features, such as personalized lockscreens and the Cortana voice assistant.

However it seems that not only will Nokia be bringing these updates to their Lumia lineup, but for certain Lumia devices, they will be getting some added features in Nokia’s upcoming “Cyan” update as well. The update is essentially Nokia’s own codename for it (the previous update was known as Black) and according to Nokia, the update will introduce features like Miracast and Dolby Surround Sound Capture. Instagram, having successfully touched the 200 million active users milestone before March 2014 was over, has received complaints from users in recent days. The complaints touched on Instagram actually hiding recently uploaded photos, showing off older photos instead. While this will not cause the entire world to come to a grinding halt, it is enough to annoy regular Instagram users, who might then defect to an alternative platform or stop using the service altogether. This is definitely not something any developer wants, which is why Instagram has already stepped forward to say that they are working on a bug fix.

Back in 2013, Vivo unveiled the Xplay 3S which is the first Android smartphone to ever pack a QHD display. Safe to say that this was a technological achievement by Vivo, a company that was relatively unknown until recently.

Now apart from the amazing display, the handset also came with some pretty impressive hardware specs as well but it looks like Vivo is eager to beat itself to the punch.
