Black Area Underneath HTC’s Logo On One M8 Explained

Black Area Underneath HTCs Logo On One M8 ExplainedHTC One M8 was launched just last week and like we have said in the past, it has to be one of the more beautifully designed Android handsets we’ve seen to date. The phone is made entirely from metal, features front-facing BoomSound speakers, and a Full HD 1080p display to top things off.

However it seems that there is one particular feature about the phone’s design that some have been curious about and might have even criticized HTC about, and it is the black bar at the bottom of the phone where HTC’s logo is situated. We’re sure many would have preferred if the screen stretched all the way from the top to the bottom, so it is understandable why HTC decided to make this design choice. (more…)

Sprint’s Samsung ATIV S Neo And HTC 8XT To Get WP8.1 Update

Sprints Samsung ATIV S Neo And HTC 8XT To Get WP8.1 UpdateAs you might have heard by now, T-Mobile will be updating its Windows Phone handsets, the Nokia Lumia 925 and the Lumia 521 to Windows Phone 8.1, but what about other Windows Phone handsets on other carriers? Will they be updated to the latest build of Windows Phone as well?

The good news is that as far Sprint is concerned, they are on board as well and have recently announced that they will be updating both the Samsung ATIV S Neo and the HTC 8XT to Windows Phone 8.1. Unfortunately just like T-Mobile, Sprint declined to provide us with an exact date of when they will be updating both devices, but promised it would be arriving “this summer”. (more…)

Samsung Galaxy S5 Is Surprisingly Durable In Drop Test

While Samsung might be boasting about the Galaxy S5’s IP67 rating which makes it both water resistant and dustproof, they did not mention anything about durability, but then again the Galaxy S5 was not designed to be a rugged phone so we can only assume that if it were to be dropped or run over by a car, you’d probably have to go get yourself a new one.

That being said, the folks over at TechSmartt have decided to put the Galaxy S5 through a drop test and compare it again the Samsung Galaxy S4, its predecessor. Now both phones are made from plastic, although in the case of the Galaxy S5, it features a textured back similar to the Galaxy Note 3 albeit with a different feel, so there’s nothing about the phone that would make it more rugged. The Moto G Forte Is Actually The Moto G With A Grip Shell Case

The Moto G Forte Is Actually The Moto G With A Grip Shell CaseJust the other day thanks to a tip by @evleaks, it was suggested that Motorola was working on a new Moto G handset called the Moto G Forte. At that time not much was known about the device but based on the photo and the rumors, it was suggested that the handset could be a more rugged version of the Moto G and could even come with waterproof capabilities as well.

It turns out that reality is definitely more boring because it seems that the Moto G Forte, as it has been launched in Latin American markets, is basically a Moto G that comes with the Grip Shell case preinstalled on it right out of the box. (more…)

HTC One M8 Will Get The Gold Plated Treatment As Well

HTC One M8 Will Get The Gold Plated Treatment As WellNo doubt phones that are plated in gold or coated in precious stones do look pretty flashy, but they also look a little ostentatious, but then again we guess there is a market for such devices otherwise we’re pretty sure companies would not even bother, right?

Well if you were impressed with the gold plated HTC One from 2013, you might be interested to learn that HTC will be plating their recently announced HTC One M8 in gold as well. Unfortunately HTC did not mention how much the phone would cost but if the gold plated HTC One from last year is any indication, we can look forward to prices upwards of $2,000. (more…)

Intel To Offer Exclusive Content On Devices Powered By Their Chips

Intel To Offer Exclusive Content On Devices Powered By Their ChipsEveryone including Intel probably knows that they’re late to the mobile game which is currently dominated by ARM and companies that rely on their technology and architecture, such as Qualcomm, Samsung, Apple, NVIDIA, MediaTek, and etc.

To date we’ve seen Intel attempt to gain more ground by catering to lower-end devices although we’re not sure how successful that venture has been. However Intel does not appear to be giving up as they have announced a new strategy which involves providing exclusive content to devices that are powered by Intel’s chipsets. (more…)

Presumably both of these phones will be receiving the update in its entirety, personalized lockscreens and all. Nokia Announces New Badges Program To Reward Their Developers

Nokia Announces New Badges Program To Reward Their DevelopersThe downside to using Windows Phone devices is that there is a lack of apps compared to iOS and Android. Of course we can say that 150,000 apps is a pretty big deal, but when you compare it against iOS and Android who number over half a million, that’s pretty insignificant.

One could also argue that we don’t need that many apps, but sometimes variety is nice, not to mention a lot of big name companies tend to release their apps on iOS and Android first, followed by Windows Phone if at all. (more…)

Investors Have Low Expectations From iPhone 6 [Analyst]

Later this year, quite possibly in the second half, Apple is going to launch the iPhone 6. Rumor has it that this time around the company will again launch two models, if it keeps the current naming scheme, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6c. Customers have a lot of expectations, the biggest being increased display sizes. They might be impressed by what Apple puts before them, but Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster believes it will take a lot more to meet the expectations of major Wall Street investors.
