Android 4.4 KitKat Install Base Grows To 5.3%

Android 4.4 KitKat Install Base Grows To 5.3%In the past we have seen arguments made against the Android platform, claiming that it was fragmented due to OEMs pushing out updates at irregular intervals. This combined with carriers requiring approval has caused some phones to remain on older builds of Android while the same model in another country could have been updated weeks ago.

Things are slowly starting to change and fragmentation has become less of an issue these days, and according to the latest Android numbers released by Google, it seems that Android 4.x is now installed on over 80% of Android devices to date. In terms of Android 4.4 KitKat, that number is still relatively low at 5.3% but it is still growing. (more…)

Sony Bundles Michael Jackson’s “XSCAPE” Album With Xperia Z2

Similar to what Jay-Z did with Samsung, it seems that Sony wants to do something similar as well, which is to release a music album in conjunction with the release of a handset. In this case Sony plans to use the upcoming Xperia Z2 and will be releasing a new Michael Jackson album titled “XSCAPE” together with it.

Yes, we are well aware that the King of Pop is no longer with us, so XSCAPE isn’t technically new material, but will instead feature unreleased material which we guess did not make it to the studio albums, which in turn will no doubt make it an album that fans and collectors will want to get their hands on. According to a recent report from Engadget, they claim that Google is rumored to be working on a standalone camera app that will reportedly deal with the issues people have been experiencing, while at the same time opening it up to developers and non-Nexus devices too, much like the Google Now launcher.
