Facebook Messenger is the social network’s standalone app for people who prefer to chat with their friends and family through Facebook. While its possible to chat through the main Facebook app as well, Messenger aims to offer a much better experience. The Facebook Messenger for iOS has now been updated, and it comes with a couple of new features.

Users can now create chat groups within the app. They can essentially put together people that they want to message in a single thread and even assign them a name, such as “Family” or “Colleagues.” This feature keeps often contacted people all in one place, which makes it easier for the user to chat with them. Group photos can also be set, just to add a bit of color to the whole arrangement.

The app also includes a forwarding feature now. This allows users to send conversations or images to their Facebook contacts, even if those contacts weren’t a part of the original message thread. To forward, all users need to do is a simple tap, and its done. Other improvements have also been made to make the app faster and more reliable.

The name BlackBerry and good news aren’t exactly synonymous these days, but there’s something to cheer about for the Canadian company. It has successfully been able to achieve an injunction against Typo, a company that counts TV personality Ryan Seacrest as an investor and backer. Last year Typo developed a keyboard case for the iPhone, it essentially adds a full QWERTY keyboard to the very smartphone that killed such form factors. BlackBerry filed a lawsuit against it and now it has been granted an injunction.

Over the past few weeks chatter about an upcoming Android update has significantly increased. The Android 4.4.3 update build numbers have already been spotted in bug reports and server logs, which may indicate that the update’s soak test has begun. Folks at AndroidPolice have heard from a “source familiar with the situation” that the Android 4.4.3 update isn’t going to be too spectacular. In fact, its expected to primarily fix bugs.

Since its believed to be an incremental update, its highly unlikely that Google will bundle any new features or major user interface changes with Android 4.4.3. However, it is expected to feature fixes for over two dozen bugs, so the least this update will do is make the user experience a bit better.

A complete list of fixes isn’t available as yet, we’ll have to wait on the official Android 4.4.3 changelog to be sure of what the update brings. Nevertheless, it is reportedly going to come with several connectivity fixes, such as data connection dropout, Wi-Fi auto-connect, data usage graph, internet telephony and multiple fixes for Bluetooth.

There is no word as yet about the expected release date of Android 4.4.3. Google hasn’t commented on rumors regarding this update, so its highly unlikely that it’ll even talk about the update before its actually ready for public release.

Earlier this year we did a review on the Motorola Moto G Android smartphone. Despite the handset not being particularly impressive in terms of its hardware, it proved to be quite a capable device and for those shopping on a budget, the Moto G is definitely worth taking a look at.

However it looks like Motorola might have another version of the Moto G on the way, at least according to @evleaks who has revealed that there is a certain Moto G Forte handset. Based on the image we can see, apparently this is the Moto G with a slightly more durable build. (more…)
