The best HTC smartphone ever just got a successor. The all new HTC One (aka HTC One M8) has been officially, and it will replace the HTC One M7 which came out just a year ago. There were quite a few leaks ahead of this launch, and many of them were spot on, but when I saw the HTC One M8 for myself, I though that none of the leaked photos did justice to the actual design and build quality of this handset. Now that it is out, you may want to check it out for yourself because if you thought that the original HTC One shined with its industrial design, the M8 takes it to the next level. Let’s take a closer look.

We did share with you on how LG intends to introduce their special KnockOn feature to the L Series II range of smartphones later this month, and here we are with the South Korean consumer electronics giant announcing that the Knock Code feature will also be made available in earlier LG smartphone models through a firmware update beginning from this April. Basically, those who own the LG G2 and LG G Flex in select countries will have the privilege of enjoying the Knock Code update that enables users to access their smartphones via a customized “knock” pattern, instead of the usual unlocking methods.

They say that good things come to those who wait, and if you have been patient enough, you would have realized that the LG Optimus F3, although not a high end smartphone and having been announced by T-Mobile last year, is a decent performer for those who are on the market for an entry level Android-powered device. No one really knows what the iPhone 6 will look like. In fact no one knows how big the phone will be, despite the rumors that the iPhone 6 could come in two sizes: 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch (earlier rumors suggested 5.7-inch).

However recently a Japanese case manufacturer has uploaded photos of a dummy device that is allegedly based on the iPhone 6, although we have no way of verifying if any of this is true. At the same time it does make for a pretty interesting point of discussion, so why not, right? (more…)

One of the interesting and handy features of Android 4.4 KitKat is the ability to search for people or businesses in the dialer app. For example if you wanted to call a particular restaurant to make a booking but you don’t have their number, you could try searching for it in the dialer app as opposed to having to fire up your browser and perform a search.

This could potentially cut down the time spent searching for phone numbers and is pretty handy, since a business’s name will also show up in the caller ID, letting you know who is calling. The good news is that if you don’t have Android 4.4 KitKat but would like that feature, the folks at CyanogenMod will be adding that feature into their latest nightlies. (more…)
