Oppo Find 7a Outscores Find 7 On Benchmark Graphics Test

Oppo Find 7a Outscores Find 7 On Benchmark Graphics TestJust last week, Oppo announced two new handset in the form of the Oppo Find 7 and the Find 7a. For the most part the handsets appear to be similar in terms of design, but it’s under the hood which is where the differences lie.

The Find 7 will pack a QHD display, 3GB of RAM, and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. This is compared to the Find 7a’s Full HD display, 2GB of RAM, and the Snapdragon 800. On paper this would give the Find 7 a slight edge in terms of hardware. (more…)

Nokia Lumia 1020 Used To Shoot Fashion Magazine’s Entire Issue

Nokia Lumia 1020 Used To Shoot Fashion Magazines Entire IssueGiven how advanced smartphone cameras have gotten these days, it is possible to take photos and videos which are of excellent quality. Of course it cannot be compared to high end professional cameras, but we reckon it is more than decent for personal use as well as for enthusiasts.

LG KnockOn Feature To Arrive For L Series II Handsets This Month

LG KnockOn Feature To Arrive For L Series II Handsets This MonthOne of the new features that LG introduced to some of its Android handsets back in December of 2013 was the KnockOn feature. For those unfamiliar as to what the feature does, in case the name wasn’t obvious enough, is that it allows users to wake up their phone simply by double tapping the screen.

Such features are available to Android phones that have been flashed with custom ROMs and tweaks, but for those unfamiliar with the process or do not want to do so, we guess KnockOn is a good alternative. (more…)

UK Government Looking To Apply 20% VAT To Digital Downloads

UK Government Looking To Apply 20% VAT To Digital DownloadsFor the most part, Apple’s iTunes App Store downloads are more or less valued the same based on the price of $0.99. Of course there will be differences due to the currency conversion, but for the most part they remain somewhat affordable. However it seems that in the UK, there is a chance that UK iTunes App Store users could face a price hike of 20% which is basically the country’s “value added tax”.

Why is this? Well at the moment app stores like those by Apple and Amazon currently exploit a tax loophole which allows digital downloads, like apps, music, and books to be downloaded and bought without having to pay the 20% VAT, which in turn allows them to pay much lower international tax rates. Huawei CMO Thinks It’s Hard To Differentiate Windows Phone Brands

Huawei CMO Thinks Its Hard To Differentiate Windows Phone BrandsIf there is one feature of Windows Phone that is both a pro and a con, it would be the fact that the user interface looks too similar. On one hand it creates a sense of uniformity which is great because that means that people will be able to identify it as Windows Phone. On the other hand by making all phones look the same, there is less personalization involved.

This is versus Android handsets where user interfaces from different OEMs are wildly different from one another, not to mention the extensive customization options offered by the Android platform allow users to create a truly unique looking handset. That being said, it seems this uniformity is one of the features of Windows Phone that Huawei does not seem to like. (more…)

Nokia X Production Reportedly Moved From India To China

Nokia X Production Reportedly Moved From India To ChinaMost countries have more or less given their blessing for the Microsoft/Nokia deal to proceed, but as it stands, India is one of the countries that is still standing in the way of the deal being approved. The reason is apparently due to tax that the Indian government claims Nokia owes them.

The deal could proceed, but only if Nokia is willing to fork out a huge amount of money to pay back the taxes they alleged owe the government, but until they do, the Chennai-based factory owned by Nokia will be held by the Indian government. (more…)

Taiwan Approves Microsoft/Nokia Deal, Attaches Conditions

Taiwan Approves Microsoft/Nokia Deal, Attaches ConditionsThe Microsoft/Nokia deal is still in the process of being approved by regulatory boards and governments around the world, which is unsurprising given how big both companies are and how their business spans across multiple countries.

So far for the most part, most countries have given the deal their blessing, including China who had initially expressed their reservations regarding patents and licensing fees. Well now it looks like we can add Taiwan to the list of countries that have given the deal the green light, but it turns out that there are some conditions attached. (more…)

All New HTC One Could Be Verizon Exclusive For Two Weeks

Its safe to say that Verizon subscribers won’t have forgotten what happened last year. Big Red was the last major U.S. carrier to release the HTC One. It was rather late to the party, making subscribers wait until August even after rival carriers had already released the smartphone a few months back. There exists a possibility that history won’t repeat itself this time around. With HTC due to announce the All New HTC One on March 25th, its possible that Verizon may release the smartphone on that very day, at 1 p.m. EDT.
