BlackBerry Z3 Could Pack 720p HD Display [Rumor]

BlackBerry Z3 Could Pack 720p HD Display [Rumor]Just last week during MWC 2014, BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry Z3 smartphone. This isn’t a new announcement per se since the phone had been leaked and rumored about several times ahead of its announcement where it was known by its codename, Jakarta.

The phone would be the first phone resulting from BlackBerry and Foxconn’s efforts, and it is admittedly not exactly a phone with the most amazing specs. The device was meant for emerging markets and it is understandable that they chose lower-end specs to make it more affordable.

One of the rumored specs was that the handset would pack a 540×960 display but according to new reports, a 720p HD display might make it onto the phone instead. (more…)

Nokia X’s App Store Ported Onto Jolla Smartphone

Nokia Xs App Store Ported Onto Jolla SmartphoneJust the other day, we saw the Nokia X rooted and have Google apps installed on the phone. This is actually a pretty big deal because with the Nokia X running on a forked version of Android, this meant that unlike other Android phones, the Nokia X would not, by default, have access to Google apps and services that come preinstalled on Android phones.

Now according to reports, it seems that the reverse has happened. The Nokia Store app on the Nokia X has managed to be extracted and installed on none other than a Jolla smartphone, which for those unfamiliar is a phone made by ex-Nokia employees and runs an operating system known as Sailfish OS. Purported iPhone 6 Front Panel Leaked

Presumably if Apple sticks with its traditional release cycles, the new iPhone won’t be coming until Fall. However, there have already been many rumors about the iPhone 6, some believe Apple might launch it early this year, possibly in Summer. It is believed that the display size will be finally bumped up this year, and now a purported iPhone 6 front panel has leaked online which hints at just that. Though it is a bit too soon for components of the next generation iPhone to surface, usually when things like these come up so soon its possible that they’re not the real deal.

Boost And Virgin Mobile To Offer Galaxy S5

Previously it used to take a lot of time for premium smartphones to make their way to prepaid carriers. Those carriers usually had low-end or mid-range phones on offer, and not premium phones the kind customers would find on major national carriers such as Verizon and AT&T. Though things have been shaken up a bit in the past year with more such devices landing at prepaid carriers. The Galaxy S5 is one of the biggest flagships of this year, and it has already been revealed that Samsung’s latest smartphone is going to make its way to Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile soon after launch.

Project Ara Shown Off And Demonstrated During Launch Conference

Project Ara is a project being worked on by Google at the moment which is a modular smartphone concept where the goal is to swap out components and upgrade them as needed, much like how one would upgrade their desktop PC by swapping out RAM, hard drives, and GPUs.

Google will be hosting their first Ara Developers’ Conference in April, but in the meantime it seems that they are too excited about it and have decided to show off some of its early prototypes along with a demo on how it would work.

This demo was shown off during the Launch festival in San Francisco which took place this week, and where Google’s Paul Eremenko took to stage to talk about Ara as well as to demonstrate the device. (more…)

Apple Reportedly Working On Software Fix For Touch ID Sensor

Apple Reportedly Working On Software Fix For Touch ID SensorWhen Apple launched the iPhone 5s, it came with a unique feature called Touch ID. It was basically a way for users to unlock their smartphones and make iTunes purchases using their fingerprint. Based on our review of the phone and other reviews on the internet, the general consensus was that Touch ID was refreshingly responsive.

However in a recent report, it was suggested that Touch ID would “degrade” over time, due to the fact that the initial fingerprint data could eventually become polluted due to additional scans made over time. Well according to AppleInsider, they claim that a fix for this issue is being worked on as we speak. (more…)
