Galaxy S5 Priced In UK And Spain, Not As Cheap As We Thought

Galaxy S5 Priced In UK And Spain, Not As Cheap As We ThoughtBefore the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5, there were rumors surrounding the handset with regards to its price, suggesting that the handset could be priced cheaper than its predecessor and the competition.

Given that hardware on most of the flagship phones we’ve seen at MWC 2014 is more or less the same, we guess price is one way of attracting customers to your product apart from differentiating features. Well it seems that either retailers did not get the memo or that the rumors were wrong, because it looks like the Galaxy S5 has been priced and it does not sound cheap at all. (more…)

Ashton Kutcher And Lenovo To Launch New Smartphones This Year

Ashton Kutcher And Lenovo To Launch New Smartphones This YearBack in 2013, Lenovo thought that it would be a good idea to hire celebrity Ashton Kutcher to be one of their product engineers. This is not the first time we’ve seen tech companies use celebrities to help raise awareness for their products. In the past we’ve seen BlackBerry hire Alicia Keys, Intel with will.i.am, and so on.

However it seems that unlike previous celebrity endorsements, Kutcher’s role at Lenovo is more than just providing them with a pretty face. In fact just last year Kutcher reportedly helped the company with the design of the Yoga tablet, and it seems that in 2014, he is set to help Lenovo design even more products, smartphones to be exact. Nokia X Rooted, Google Apps Installed

Nokia X Rooted, Google Apps InstalledWhen Nokia first unveiled the Nokia X and its forked version of Android, we were immediately reminded of Amazon. Not because they shared similar traits or design, but the fact that it would be possible to flash a custom ROM onto it, root, and basically take away the forked version of Android and eventually replace it with something more familiar.

That being said, it seems that whatever we mentioned above is well underway as reports have claimed that the developer units of the Nokia X have since been rooted. What this means is that developers who have the phone will be able to install and add other apps onto the system that they previously couldn’t, like Google’s services. (more…)

Lenovo Reportedly Planning A Windows Phone This Year

Lenovo Reportedly Planning A Windows Phone This YearWhen it comes to Windows Phone brands, Lenovo is probably not a company you would think of. Sure the company makes Windows-based products like laptops and tablets, but when it comes to smartphones, they tend to favor Android.

That being said, it seems that Lenovo might be interested in attempting to break into the Windows Phone market with a smartphone of their own, according to reports from WP7Forum.ru. The reports are claiming that Lenovo will be launching their first Windows Phone handset around April which is following the announcement of Windows Phone 8.1. (more…)

All New HTC One Dual Rear Camera Leaked

All New HTC One Dual Rear Camera LeakedIt looks as though the Nokia Lumia 630 is not the only smartphone that is experiencing its fair share of leaks recently, as the all new HTC One (aka HTC M8), too, has gone through a fair amount of leaks. In fact, an upcoming event this March 25th is seen by many as the date where HTC will unveil their “All New HTC One”, which will be the new flagship device, and there has been plenty of leaks happening already. In fact, serial leakster @evleaks has also posted a new picture of the handset that will reportedly be known as the “All New HTC One,” and it does bear a family resemblance to the original HTC One, including the front-facing stereo speakers. There is one major difference in their physical make up, however, which would be located at the back of the handset. Apparently, the usurper will feature dual cameras.

Nokia Lumia 630 Specifications Leaked (Rumor)

Nokia Lumia 630 Specifications Leaked (Rumor)Do take this bit of news with a pinch of salt, as nothing official has been released just yet concerning the Nokia Lumia 630. Sure, we have seen the Nokia Lumia 630 product sheet leaked yesterday which dropped a hint concerning a 4.5” display, but here are more details that touches on the rest of the hardware specifications. Also known as the Nokia “Moneypenny”, the Nokia Lumia 630’s most recent round of leaked information hails from an anonymous (this is expected) user on the Chinese Baidu forum. The forum post also pointed to a slew of new images of the Nokia Lumia 630, as well as comparing it to the existing Nokia Lumia 620 model that is in the market.

Japanese Man Billed $9,800 After iPhone Gets Stolen In Spain

Japanese Man Billed $9,800 After iPhone Gets Stolen In SpainWe have heard our fair share of bill shock stories in the past, and it seems that this particular (albeit unwanted) phenomenon has yet to be stamped out. Most of the time, “bill shock”, which is the term used to describe a situation where one goes roaming overseas without knowing any better and return home only to be greeted by an insane phone bill at the end of the month. Well, this Japanese tourist who had his iPhone pickpocketed from him on December 29 last year while he was riding the Barcelona subway, had the shock of his life when he was billed for $9,800 (after conversion from yen, of course) at the end of the month.

Acer Wants In On Windows Phone After OS Achieves 15% Europe Market Share

Acer Wants In On Windows Phone After OS Achieves 15% Europe Market ShareWhich comes first – the chicken or the egg? This is the very same situation that many software developers and hardware manufacturers ponder over. Software developers say that they would like to see a platform increase its market share before they are able to throw their lot into it, while hardware manufacturers claim that unless software developers back their hardware right from the get go without looking at the user base figures, it would be difficult for people to adopt the hardware in the first place. Well, Acer is somewhat placed in such a position, as their VP of Smartphones, Allen Burnes, mentioned that the company would like to see Windows Phone market share grow before they take the plunge into the Windows Phone platform.

FIFA 14 For Windows Phone Arrives

Out of all the mobile platforms, both Android and iOS enjoy the greatest degree of support, and by that, it also translates to the number of games which are revealed on both platforms. As for Windows Phone, well, reception in that particular department has proved itself to be rather lukewarm, but this does not mean that major titles still do not make its way there. FIFA 14, a title that has surpassed 26 million mobile downloads at the end of last year, has finally arrived on the Windows Phone platform for soccer fans worldwide.
