LG L90 Could Be Headed For T-Mobile

LG L90 Could Be Headed For T MobilePrior to MWC 2014, LG unveiled a trio of devices as part of their L-series lineup, and one of them was the LG L90. The handset was mid-ranged at best, but unfortunately at the time of announcement, LG did not share any plans regarding availability or pricing.

However the good news is that if you were looking for something mid-ranged and if LG has been impressing you as of late, you might be interested to learn that @evleaks has recently posted a photo onto Twitter which shows off the LG L90 as possibly being destined for T-Mobile. (more…)

Galaxy S5′s Waterproof Feature Does Not Worry Sony

Galaxy S5s Waterproof Feature Does Not Worry SonyBack in 2013, Sony unveiled the Xperia Z, which at that time was the company’s flagship handset. While the Xperia Z packed some pretty impressive hardware, there were a couple of features that made it stand out from the rest of the competition – waterproof and dustproof.

While we doubt these are features that many customers base their decisions on, it is a pretty handy feature especially in those “oops” moments when you drop the phone in the pool, the toilet, or where it might get wet in the rain. This is a feature Sony carried on to its other products, including the Xperia Z2.

However it turns out that waterproof and dustproof are features Samsung decided to introduce to its latest Galaxy S5 as well. With the popularity of the Galaxy S series, does Sony have something to worry about? Ravi Nookala, President of Sony Mobile Communications USA, doesn’t seem to think so. (more…)

Google’s Sundar Pichai Discusses Android’s Security

Googles Sundar Pichai Discusses Androids SecurityIt is safe to say that Android is probably the most popular smartphone operating system at the moment. That also makes them a very nice and juicy target for hackers who have in the past released malware that specifically targets the operating system. That being said, such malware reports are becoming less frequent these days.

That being said, does the fact that Google’s choice to make Android open source a reason why there are more malware attacks? After all if hackers are allowed to inspect the code, they will be able to find loopholes and exploits that they can use to hack their way in. However Google’s Sundar Pichai begs to differ during an event at MWC 2014. (more…)

BBM For The Desktop Might Not Be Arriving Anytime Soon

BBM For The Desktop Might Not Be Arriving Anytime SoonBBM for desktop? Now where have we heard that before? Our readers might recall that it was only a few days ago that BlackBerry’s CEO, John Chen, expressed the company’s interest in potentially moving BBM beyond handsets. This has led to speculation that BlackBerry could be thinking about moving BBM onto desktops.

This is actually not the first time the concept has been proposed, but unfortunately BBM chief, John Sims, poured cold water onto the idea when he revealed that moving BBM onto the desktop is something that the company is not focusing on at the moment. (more…)

In-App Purchases Are The Windows Store’s Main Revenue Source

In App Purchases Are The Windows Stores Main Revenue SourceAs it stands, Microsoft is boasting 146,395 apps in its Windows Store, and in a recent post by the company on their blog, it has been found to no one’s surprise that despite the Windows Store not being as populated compared to other app stores, once again in-app purchases rule supreme.

It turns out that while there is money to be made from the Windows Store, chances are developers will more likely than not make more money if they were to include in-app purchases in their apps. This is a move typically favored by developers who choose to release apps following the free-to-play model. (more…)

ASUS Unveils Android 4.4 KitKat Roadmap

ASUS Unveils Android 4.4 KitKat RoadmapThey say that knowledge is power, but I would like to think otherwise. Knowledge is potential power if you know how to leverage it, and ASUS intends to “educate” the masses with what they have in store for the future where its Android 4.4 KitKat devices are concerned. In fact, a list of which particular device from ASUS’ stables that will be on the receiving end of this operating system update has been revealed, so for those who happen to own an ASUS PadFone 2, PadFone Infinity (the old and new models), or PadFone A80 have reason to smile. This particular Android 4.4 KitKat update will arrive on the original PadFone Infinity in Asia and Russia, as well as the PadFone A80 in Europe. As for the ASUS PadFone 2 and the new Infinity, both of them should be updated to the latest KitKat version regardless of its territory.

Former Apple Exec Apologizes For The First-Gen iPhone

Former Apple Exec Apologizes For The First Gen iPhoneWhile phones will full touchscreen displays have been around before the launch of the first-generation iPhone, they weren’t particularly nice to use, partly due to the fact that these touchscreen devices still relied on resistive touchscreen displays, versus capacitive which was used by the iPhone.

What this meant is that the touch wasn’t as smooth, fluid, or intuitive. If you’ve used one of those phones before, you know what we’re talking about. That being said, it’s safe to say that the launch of the first iPhone really shook up the mobile industry and it is something that Apple should be proud of, but it seems that not everyone feels that way.

Ex-Apple senior direct of product marketing, Bob Borchers, was recently quoted as saying, “If you had the original iPhone, I apologize; it was not a great phone, it was an OK phone.” (more…)

Cellphone Maps Can Be Used Legally While Driving In California

Cellphone Maps Can Be Used Legally While Driving In CaliforniaDriving while using Google Maps – right or wrong? While technically you aren’t texting or aren’t calling someone, safe to say that you are distracted especially if you were to pick up your phone and examined the maps closer.

In fact it wasn’t too long ago that there were several states that proposed the ban of Google Glass while on the road. This is despite the fact that the device could be turned off, but then again how will the authorities know, right? While the jury is still out on whether Google Glass could be banned while driving, the good news is that as far as Californians are concerned, your use of cellphone maps while driving is considered legal.
