Radioline TV Radioline Goes to the Connected TVs with Mstar and to the Car with Parrot

Radioline TV interface – please note that this might not be the final interface that will be displayed in various TVs

[CES 2013] Radioline is the new kid on the block in the online radio world and today, the radio aggregator announced that it will be in connected TVs, via a partnership with Mstar and in the car, via a partnership with Parrot.

Launched in October 2012 for iOS, Radioline is an iPhone application that aggregates over 25,000 radio stations and 11,000 podcasts. The application is the consumer facing product of the company which also operates a cloud-based mobile internet radio portal solution and provides MNOs (Mobile Network Operators) and Service Providers with its white labeled technology.

I have tried Radioline briefly when it was released and the experience was good. I could find rapidly  any radio I wanted, including the European ones. Its vintage look, reminiscent of the golden age of radio, is a great differentiator from similar services such as TuneIn or Stitcher.  In case you own an Asteroid from Parrot, you will also be able to try Radioline yourself in your car.

Intel’s Perceptual Computing demonstrations hands-on (video)

Intels Perceptual Computing demonstrations handson video

We’ve just spent time with Intel’s Mooly Eden, who is spearheading the chip maker’s push into what it’s calling “perceptual computing,” which is using natural and intuitive interactions to control your PC. The company has partnered with Creative on a Kinect-esque 3D depth-camera that can be used to control applications and play games, do faux-green screen broadcasting and collaborate with colleagues. While Microsoft’s motion-tracker is designed to encompass a whole room, Intel’s has a shallower depth of field that’s more suited for close-up work. We got to play with the company’s demos away from the noise of the show floor, as well as playing a gesture-based version of Portal 2 by Sixsense that’s shorn of the controllers that Eden used to demonstrate it in 2011. Interested in seeing what’s likely to appear in what the company promises is the very near future? Head on down past the break.

Holy iBattz BattStation Tough Pro, Batman!

Sure, you love spending the day at conventions and tradeshows like CES, but there are moments when you realize that it totally slipped your mind the day earlier to power up your smartphone, leaving you with less than 25% to go through the day. Which is nigh impossible considering what a power user you are. Good thing there are peripherals out there to the rescue, such as the iBattz BattStation Tough Pro 12,000 mAH. Yes sir, this bad boy will come in 7200mAh, 8400mAh and 12000mAh configurations, retailing for $29.90, $39.90 and $49.90, respectively.

Still, the tale of the tape needs to be told, and the iBattz BattStation Tough Pro 12000 comes with, no prizes for guessing this one, 12000 mAH of portable power. With this, you can juice up a couple of exhausted USB devices simultaneously, and it holds enough charge to power an iPhone up to 8 times, or for tablet users, the new iPad with Retina display once. Fret not about its durability, the BattStation Tough Pro gets the job done just about anywhere, thanks to its ruggedized, silicone shell that is drop and water resistant.

Razer Edge tablet looks to take PC gaming mobile for $999

We’ve seen a few companies try their hands at tablet gaming, but now Razer is officially entering the space with its new Edge tablet. To say that the Edge is “new” is somewhat misleading, as we were introduced to a version of this tablet at CES 2012. Back then, it had been dubbed Project Fiona, but today, with the hardware locked down and plenty of accessories to talk about, Fiona is becoming the Edge.

For $999, you’ll be getting the basic Edge package. Don’t let the word “basic” fool you though, because even this package is quite beastly. At that price, the Edge comes outfitted with a third-gen 1.7GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU, and a 64GB SSD. On the other hand, if you want to shell out $1,299 for the Razer Edge Pro, you’ll be getting the same NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU, but you’ll also be getting a bump up to a 1.9GHz Core i7, 8GB of RAM, and either a 128GB or 256GB SSD. Both models come with a USB 3.0 port and Bluetooth 4.0.

Of course, there wills also be plenty of accessories to add to this package, including a keyboard dock that can be used to play games that rely on a keyboard or mouse. You’ll also have the option of a controller dock – which features the handlebar controller we saw with Project Fiona – along with 40Wh battery packs that cost $69 a pop and supposedly double the life of the Edge. Finally, Razer will be have a docking station on offer, which will provide gamers with additional USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, and stereo sound. The docking station will cost $99 and the detachable controller dock will set you back $249, though sadly Razer doesn’t have a price for the keyboard dock yet due to the fact that it isn’t quite ready for prime time.

Razer will be offering an Edge Pro and controller dock bundle for $1499, which doesn’t seem too bad considering the prices of each and the specs of the Pro tablet. Both versions of the tablet are available for purchase right now from Razer’s website, and we’ll be hearing much, much more about the Razer Edge very soon. If this is as good as Razer claims, then expect to see some major changes in the realm of tablet gaming. Check out our CES portal for more straight from the show!

iBattz BattStation Tough Pro 12,000 mAH Offers Rugged Mobile Power

ibattz iBattz BattStation Tough Pro 12,000 mAH Offers Rugged Mobile Power[CES 2013] If you ever attended the mad house that is called CES 2013, you would know how important it is to keep your devices juiced up to the maximum right until you leave the hotel room early in the morning, with the quest of covering as much CES showfloor news as possible throughout the day. After all, when you are clicking away, sending and receiving all sorts of information on your smartphone while updating news stories on your notebook, most of these are done away from a power point, and when the action happens thick and heavy, you might find yourself out of juice sooner than you think. Which is why the $49.90 iBattz BattStation Tough Pro 12,000 mAH has just been announced, where it delivers, yup, 12,000 mAH of portable power.

In other words where laypeople can understand, you are able to juice up an iPhone up to 8 times, or fully charge the new iPad with Retina display. Assuming you do not have to do the latter, the iBattz BattStation Tough Pro is good to power a pair of USB devices simultaneously, now how about that? It even comes in a ruggedized, silicone shell that is not only drop- but water-resistant as well, making sure that road warriors will be kept happy.

Verizon Partners With Motorola For FiOS TV Media Server Capable Of Six Recordings At Once

[CES 2013] As advanced as our television watching has become recently, one thing cable companies are still lagging behind on is their cable box features. Not every company has something as awesome as Dish Network’s Hopper, and that’s a shame as we all have experienced the torture that is having your DVR notifying you two shows are about to be recorded while you’re watching something really good.

Verizon FiOS is teaming up with Motorola to make a new DVR, called the VMS1100 Media Server, available to its customers later this year that may just be the ultimate DVR. First off, it has one terabyte of hard drive space which means you’ll be able to store up to 100 hours of HD programming. You’ll also be able to use it to watch TV from five separate TVs, record up to six programs at once as well as being able to perform better than previous generation DVRs.

The only downside is you’ll need additional set-top boxes in order to use the media server in additional rooms, which are called the IPC1100 IP-based set-top, which just means that’s more money a month you’ll be throwing at Verizon for rental fees.

So if you could afford all of the extra rental fees for the new Media Server and additional set-top boxes in your home, this new addition may be worth it.
