Alcatel One Touch Tab8 HD 8” Tablet Unveiled

ONE TOUCH Tab 8 HD Alcatel One Touch Tab8 HD 8” Tablet Unveiled[CES 2013] Alcatel has unveiled several tablets for CES 2013, but if 7” tablets aren’t your thing and you’re looking for something a little bigger, then maybe the One Touch Tab8 HD might be worth checking out. Featuring an 8” IPS display with a resolution of 1024×768, the Tab8 HD will be powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz processor with 1GB of RAM accompanying it.

It will also come with 8GB of NAND flash memory which can be expanded via microSD, a 2MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera and will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. If all of this sounds familiar, it’s because Alcatel announced the One Touch Tab7 HD which shares similar specs save for the display size.

It’s not the most powerful Android tablet we’ve seen and in all honesty there are better tablets that can be had for its price, but if you think that paying $179 is justifiable for a tablet of this caliber, then you might be interested to learn that the Alcatel One Touch Tab8 HD will be available in the US come Q3 2013.

What’s different to devices like FXI’s Cotton Candy, for instance, is that the hardware is a gateway to a cloud server where all of your content lives. Users can play games, display presentations or finish the last few lines of that essay wherever they are. The company isn’t talking about details (or how you’d control such a device), but it’s expecting to have it ready for prime-time by the summer.
