A spanking new year equals to new smartphones for some, and just in case you were looking around in the market for a new smartphone to suits your needs and craving for something that has a larger viewing real estate, you might be clamoring after the Huawei Ascend Mate, which is a behemoth of a phablet thanks to its 6.1” display. And you thought that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was already unwieldy, no?
Well, press shots of the upcoming Huawei W1 and Huawei Ascend Mate has already hit the Internet, where both of them are tipped to be unveiled at CES which is happening later next week. We will be there on the CES showfloor, covering whatever news that is deemed worthy for all you gadget-philes, and hope to spare some time for a hands-on experience. Oh yeah, and maybe even come up with a guide on how large our jackets should be in order to accommodate the Huawei Ascend Mate in a pocket. [CES 2013] CES 2013 is just around the corner, and we are stoked at the tons of consumer electronics devices that are headed our way. Samsung has a couple of premium monitors for the masses, where they come in the form of the Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor that has been optimized for Windows 8, and the Series 7 SC750 which arrives in a slim, ergonomic design and delivers premium picture quality. The Series 7 Touch (SC770) is a touch-sensitive monitor that delivers up to 10 points of simultaneous multi-touch, allowing you to drag, rotate or select objects on the monitor with but your fingers alone. You get a 60-degree tilt so that the entire user experience is a comfortable one.
The new year ushers in new devices, and Sony has just unveiled a couple of press shots for two of their upcoming Xperia devices known as the Xperia Z Yuga and Xperia ZL Odin. These do seem to be lookers in their very own right. The larger sized Xperia Z as well as slimmer Xperia ZL will in all probability come with a 5” LCD display at Full HD 1080p resolution in order to keep up with the rest of the high end competition, in addition to a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, accompanied by 2GB RAM and an Adreno 320 graphics processor.
If you’re planning on picking up a brand new TV but you’d rather not blow a hole in your wallet doing so, then you might be interested to learn that budget HDTV manufacturer, Westinghouse, has plans to unveil a series of UHD television sets at CES 2013. This includes a whopping 110” model, along with smaller models sized at 50”, 55” and 65” respectively. All models will feature a UHD resolution of 3840×2160, native refresh rate of 120Hz and are expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2013, although the 110” model will be sold as a custom order. Unfortunately no photos of the devices are available right now, and there is no word on pricing, but assuming Westinghouse keeps to its budget offerings, hopefully these will be some UHD TVs that will be slightly more affordable than the competition.
