This Tree-Pruning Robot Wields a Chainsaw

Robots wielding dangerous weapons never seems like a good idea, but that doesn’t stop engineers from continuing to create them. Case in point, this ”Pruning Robot With a Power-Saving Chainsaw Drive.”

It was developed by roboticists Yasuhiko Ishigure, Katsuyuki Hirai, and Haruhisa Kawasaki, and is capable of not only climbing up trees, but dismembering them without human intervention. The robot can spiral its way up tree trunks ranging from 2.3 to 9.8 inches in diameter, and easily lops of limbs up to about two inches in diameter.

It doesn’t matter how much smooth jazz you play as it tears up the tree, slicing off branches. It’s still a deadly machine. While the machine could definitely reduce the need for human labor, the fact that it can climb and slice limbs seems like a horror movie waiting to happen. Imagine what this thing could do if it latched onto your leg. Eesh.

Chainsaw Carved Dinosaur: Prehistoric Pine

You don’t need the folks from Jurassic Park to bring dinosaurs back to life. You just need Scott Dow of the Animalistic Chainsaw Carving Studio in Corry, Pennsylvania. He brought this one to life. And not with a petri dish and a beaker either. With a good old-fashioned chainsaw.

Look how awesome it is and it’s not even finished yet. Scott has some mad skills with that chainsaw. Now it just needs armor. And laser guns! And a bionic cyber-eye. And laser pistols holstered at it’s side. At least that’s how I would finish it.

What do you think Scott? Make my idea of a dino-warrior a reality? I’ll pick it up next week.

Electric Shark Saw

There comes a time when a man’s got to do what he’s got to do, and this includes clearing up the yard around his home. After much nagging from his wife, of course, and if he were to want an easier life while doing all the backbreaking work, he can always fall back on the likes of the $179.95 Electric Shark Saw. The Electric Shark Saw sports an innovative design, where it is actually a chainsaw in essence, although the safety issue has been tackled head-on by enclosing the bar and chain while employing a scissor-cut action in order to limit dangerous kickback.

The jaw design itself will grab onto the object that you want to cut in two, where it also offers a stabilizing factor, while there is an auto-tension feature that guarantees optimum tension. Not only that, it even cuts directly on the ground without having to prop your item up. The Electric Shark Saw will also come with an automatic chain oiler with oil level indicator, and considering how it is corded, you can forget about this ending up in an explosion should things go awry since there is no need for any gas. Seniors too, would definitely appreciate the ease of use of this chainsaw.

Robot with a Chainsaw: It’s the End of the World as We Know It.

What genius gave this robot a chainsaw? This industrial robot has been programmed to carve logs into stools. With a chainsaw. Is this really a good idea? Uh, probably not. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will now become the Robot Chainsaw Massacre. I look forward to it’s endless sequels.

These stools from Germany’s Echtwald get sold to the people who came to watch the robot in action. So you watch this robot cut your stool and then you buy the stool, thanking god that this thing can not follow you home.

It’s almost like blackmail. Here, watch this robot carve up a stool. That could be you getting carved up if we let this thing loose. How about you buy one of these stools now? Yeah, I thought you might need a place to park your butt.

Chainsaw-Wielding Robot Programmed To Carve Stools Out Of A Log

Late last year, we saw a robot take on a man in a game of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots in a cage match to the death, or at least a match until one of the little heads on one of the robots’ heads popped up. Man lost that battle, and I predicted the robot uprising would be happening very soon.

It looks like I might have been a little hasty with my ideas of the upcoming robot uprising starting so soon as another robot has been spotted in Cologne, Germany whose prime objective is to carve out stools. The robot can carve two 7xStools from a single log and with the help of its chainsaw mounted to the end of its arm. We just hope this robot doesn’t suddenly become aware as it’ll probably be way more dangerous than the robot who is really good at Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.
