Mom, you look ridiculous. Son, what the hell are you wearing? These type of conversations go on in every household everywhere. In a generational tug of war between style and comfort it seems like parents and children are on opposite sides. But what if they changed places? What if parents wore the outfits of their children and children wore the clothes their parents wore?
Missed out on your chance to download Flappy Bird? It’s okay. You can just make a DIY box version of the same game. It looks way more fun. That’s what Fawn Qiu did. She made an IRL version of Flappy Bird using an Arduino sensor, two servo motors, a reed switch and magnets. Oh and of course the box where it all happens.
No? It’s okay, I couldn’t find him either. I tried really hard too but I’d just be a walking dead person by now if I stumbled across this field in real life because the sniper that’s hiding would have no problem mowing me down. He’s super close. No, not there. There.
If you love movies or wordplay or smart things by funny people, try and keep up with this amusing video of a couple breaking up using only movie titles as the words of their conversation. That’s right, any time they talk in the video, they’re using one of 154 different movie titles to communicate with one another. It’s really good.
Artist Etienne Lavie had a lightbulb bursting idea: what if all the advertisements we see on a daily basis in the street, on subways and billboards and so forth were replaced with beautiful works of art? Instead of seeing a C-list celeb shilling a sugar drink or a traditionally beautiful faceless model selling strips of underwear fabric, you’d see paintings and murals. The world would look so much more awesome.
This is so great. Famous movies you know and love—like Citizen Kane, Blade Runner, The Shining and others—are re-imagined and re-told in the form of a 30 second animation movie trailer. So E.T. becomes a horror flick, The Big Lebowski is now a Kung Fu tale and Citizen Kane becomes a story about a Gross Butt and not Rosebud. It’s fun as hell to watch these great films become jokey animation movie teasers. I’d watch all of these new animated versions.
Brilliant. Artist Bruce Yan remixes the logos of famous brands by inserting the cartoon characters we grew up with. So the Playboy bunny becomes a profile view of Bugs Bunny, the mermaid in the Starbucks Logo becomes Ariel, Charlie Brown is the BIC guy and so on. The twists are super clever and fun.
Movie magic makes fantasy worlds feel real everyday, but this short film called "Icons" takes it to a whole other level by transforming one actor over and over again, putting him in multiple iconic scenes and works of art in a single incredible shot. From the Thinker to Mad Men to Reservoir Dogs to Daft Punk.
There’s a lot of violence in movies and TV shows. Guns, blood and murder are welcomed into the family living room by the bleary eyes of desensitized souls. But it’s entertaining! But it’s also pretty ridiculous how un-shocking it is to see. We can pass violent ads without giving it a second look. This artist wants us to hilariously think different.
This is genius. Mario Wienerroither replaces the music from popular music videos
