Here’s a super clever art installation by artist Markus Raetz. As the two paper chandeliers spin, the light source from behind mimics a ghost head turning its head from side to side. The paper is specifically cut to create the illusion of motion from the invisible head.

Because we are in the US, I’m not going to call football "American Football" or whatever other people call our version of not-soccer outside of the USA. It’s football here. That’s the end of it. But I get it. To people who know football as some other thing or don’t care to know our football as anything, the sport doesn’t seem to make any damn sense. It’s okay. It’s as silly as America itself.

Sochi, Russia, the host city of next month’s Winter Olympics, is nothing close to cold right now. The temperature hovers at a very mild 55 degrees which means it’s very far from freezing which means it’s very far from snowing. But. Like. Um. You kind of need snow to host a Winter Olympics. So Sochi enlisted the help of snow machines to get man made snow spewed for the games.

If you’re just strolling down the street or driving in your car, you’d never notice anything weird with this house in Raleigh, North Carolina. It looks like a house is supposed to look. You can imagine the family that lives there and the weekday dinners they throw for the neighborhood. You can imagine the kids in the yard. But no. It’s not a real house. This home hides a noisy water pump station for the city. What?

So her hair makes it look like she’s turned away from the camera but her clothes are set up to make it look like she’s facing the camera. What way is she really facing? Honestly, I can’t tell. Malin Bergman loves to play little games with her Instagram pictures to make you question and wonder what’s really happening in the photo.

You’re not looking at a digital painting or a photo that’s been manipulated with Photoshop or some sort of hyper real painting here, you’re looking at a real photograph taken with a real camera. No Photoshopping at all. Hard to believe, right?

When you first look at this painting, you imagine it as two women set against one scene. But then you notice the frames in the picture are a little off and wonder if there’s some Photoshopping or digital manipulation going on but nope, there’s none of that either. It’s just clever use of double exposure in film photography. A perfect blend of combining two pictures into one.

Genius. Photographer Chino Otsuka has discovered the art of time travel. Instead of exploiting a whole in the Space-time continuum to time travel, she simply digitally spliced her adult self into old photographs from her childhood. That way it looked like adult version of Otsuka was meeting child version of Otsuka. So clever.
