In almost every sci-fi movie worth re-watching, it seems that us humans are always less technologically advanced, dumber and only serve as a mere speed bump into an alien race eliminating humans to take over our planet and suck Earth dry of its resources. We’re always the weaker ones in alien wars. Well, what if we’re not? Tom Scott imagined a scenario where everyone else in the universe was afraid of humans. It’s fantastic.

It may seem impossible at this point, but humans keep enhancing their ability to kill others using guns. Example: the new Advanced Ballistics Concepts’ new Mi-Bullet, a projectile that expands into four connected parts as soon as it’s fired. The mechanism—shown in the video—is very clever, making almost impossible to miss a target.

Can you draw a map of the world just from memory? And if you did, how accurate do you think your map would be? Probably not very. You’d forget some land masses, make things too close too each other, bulge continents the wrong way and hastily add stuff without knowing where they would go. But still. You’d at least get the general shape down, right? Well, here’s what it looks like when people draw a map of the world from memory.

In this illusion, a toy car seemingly appears from no where. How is that possible? Well, the car was always there. Really. It’s a simple but masterful trick, the toy car is programmed to travel along a designated route while the red cards are shown off as a distraction. As one card is shown to reveal nothing behind it, the other card is covering the moving toy car. What you’re seeing is what you’re allowed to see.

Here’s a question I’m not sure I want to know the answer for: if Skittles and M&M’s came in individual packets for each flavor, would I combine them and eat them like how I do now (in a pile shoved into my mouth) or would I keep the flavors separate and enjoy them on their own? So this is cool: Filmmaker Thomas Jullien created a pretty sweet short movie by weaving together random strangers’ Instagram pictures to form a story. It starts with a bike ride to Paris and zaps you to New York and pretty much everywhere else in between. 852 Instagram pictures from 852 Instagram users come together for this lovely little story but by seeing all these pictures in a pseudo stop animation you realize how similar all of our photos end up being. Nothing is original. We’re all just frames in someone’s next movie.

It has more or less become fact that when you pay money to travel on an airplane, you’re subscribing yourself to probable gropage, uncomfortable seats, shoddy service, a few degrees of recline comfort and nuked sludge as food (if there is food). It’s not pleasant. It’s not futuristic. It’s not fun. What if airplanes were a little bit more adaptable? Starting with the seats.

You’ve heard of unbelievably dumb state laws before, right? Like how you can’t play dominoes on Sunday or that you can only wear slippers indoors or that you’re limited to two dildos per household. There’s tons more that don’t need to exist and they’re all ridiculous! Photographer Olivia Locher wanted to poke fun of those stupid state laws in her photo series I Fought The Law, which, well, shows photographs of ‘illegal’ things happening. It’s genius.
