Coca-Cola Filmed Noisy Filmgoers And Put Them In Fake Movie Trailers

To help drive home the point that you shouldn’t ruin a movie by talking, using your phone, or snacking excessively loud, Coca-Cola created a fake movie trailer featuring people in the actual theater disrupting the action on screen. Which served to drive home the clip’s tagline: "When you make noise during the movie, you become part of it."

The Forgotten History of One of Coca-Cola's Biggest Failures

The Forgotten History of One of Coca-Cola's Biggest Failures

The Breakmate was supposed to revolutionize how we consumed soda, on par with the advent of the soda fountain and soda bottles, and bring delicious sugary soft drinks to millions of disenfranchised American office workers. Coca-Cola Invests Into Keurig For Upcoming Soda Maker

Coca Cola Invests Into Keurig For Upcoming Soda MakerThere are a couple of ways to make your own soda at home. You could buy a bottle of carbonated water and add some syrup flavoring of your choice and ta-dah, you’re done! Alternatively you could get SodaStream, although that would require the change of CO2 cartridges, but if you were looking for something more hassle-free, you might be interested to learn that Coca-Cola has announced that they will be purchasing a 10% stake in Green Mountan Coffee Roasters, the parent company of Keurig who is known for their coffee makers and K-Cups.

This investment will allow Coca-Cola to reap the profits from Keurig’s upcoming soda maker, Keurig Cold. Unlike the SodaStream, Keurig Cold will not require the user to change CO2 cartridges, but how exactly does it carbonate your drink remains unknown for now. The Keurig Cold machine will be able to make sodas and sports drinks all from the comfort of your own home, but since we haven’t tried it out ourselves, we can’t speak for its taste. By partnering up with Coca-Cola, Keurig will have another advantage over SodaStream who did not exactly have the same big-name brand recognition that Keurig has. Pricing has not been announced but the Keurig Cold is expected to se a release in the fall.

Ford Uses Coca-Cola PlantBottle Technology inside Fusion Energi Hybrid

Its impressive to hold a Coca-Cola bottle in your hand and think that about 30% of the bottle is actually made from renewable plant material. Coca-Cola and other soft drink companies have long been using a durable lightweight called PET. Ford uses PET in some of the materials in the interior of its vehicles including headliners, fabrics, and carpet among other things.

Coca-Cola’s PlantBottle technology makes for a greener version of PET and Ford has announced that it has teamed up with Coke to utilize the PlantBottle tech inside of its vehicles.

Ford is using the technology to make fabric coverings for seat cushions, head restraints, and other components inside the car including headliners and door panels. Ford is currently evaluating using the material in other applications as well.

Mexican Coke Is Ditching Cane Sugar For High-Fructose Corn Syrup (Update: In Mexico)

Well, this is some real bullshit. Mexican Coke is ditching its key ingredient, cane sugar, for high-fructose corn syrup. This is objectively awful.

Coke’s “Downtown in a Box” Delivers Clean Water and Wi-Fi to Africa

Coke's "Downtown in a Box" Delivers Clean Water and Wi-Fi to Africa

Coca-Cola’s global distribution channels are so well-developed that a Coke can get pretty much anywhere on the planet—even places where there’s no access to fresh water. But Coke is working on that, too. As part of its mission to bring drinking water to the communities it serves, the company has developed a solar-powered, Wi-Fi-equipped kiosk with a water purification system—and it plans to drop them in 20 countries by 2015.

Coca-Cola Reveals Ekocenter For Developing Communities That Provides WiFi

Coca Cola Reveals Ekocenter For Developing Communities That Provides WiFiWhile most of us living in metropolitan areas have access to WiFi, food, clean water, and electricity, there are parts of the world where such things are considered luxuries, but Coca-Cola is hoping to change that with small shop setups that they are referring to as Ekocenters. These little shops will be opened in developing communities where it will provide residents with WiFi, clean water, power, vaccines, cooked meals, and of course access to Cola-Cola products. The company is hoping that by the end of 2015, they will have been able to set up anywhere between 1,500 to 2,000 Ekocenters in 20 countries, covering regions such as Africa, Asia, North America, and Latin America.

The business model of Coca-Cola’s Ekocenters has yet to be finalized so it is unclear if these services will be provided for free, or if there will be some kind of subscription fee or pay-per-use model that will be adopted. However the main goal here is to provide clean water, power, and health supplies, and presumably the other luxuries such as WiFi, cooked food and Coca-Cola products will be charged at an unknown price. Interestingly enough Coca-Cola’s CEO, Muhtar Kent, plans for each Ekocenter to be run by a woman, with the goal being to empower them through entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

Each Ekocenter will be a repurposed shipping container and is estimated to cost at least $100,000 to build, but it is hoped that prices could be brought down to $2,000 as they plan to build them in volume.

Interbrand: Apple now most valuable brand, worth estimated at $98.3 billion

Interbrand: Apple now most valuable brand, worth estimated at $98.3 billion

Coca-Cola’s 13-year tenure as “Best Global Brand” is over, however the new leader shouldn’t really surprise you. Apple knocked Penelope Cruz’s favorite soft drink from the number one spot on Interbrands’ annual valuation report, but after posting massive revenues time and again — including a company-record $54.5 billion in January — this isn’t too startling. Cook and friends started their ascent at the eighth spot in 2011, and climbed to second place in 2012 before stealing the top prize in the latest list. Interbrand pegs Cupertino’s brand valuation at $98.3 billion, which isn’t exactly pocket change. Don’t cry for the Sprite-maker though, it’s still on the podium according to The New York Times, but behind another tech-powerhouse: Google.

Coke Had to Cancel a Contest After a Bottle Cap Called Someone “Retard”

Coke Had to Cancel a Contest After a Bottle Cap Called Someone "Retard"

It’s no fun to be called names, but usually you only have to worry about it from people. That’s not always the case, as a Canadian woman learned when she cracked open a refreshing Vitamin water and was met with "YOU RETARD." That’s one hell of a glitch.

    Rouge Sucette is Coca-Cola-Flavored Wine

Love wine? Love soda? Even though the Rouge Sucette contains elements of both, there’s no guarantee that you’ll love it though. It’s a Coca-Cola-flavored wine by Châteaux en Bordeaux’s Hausmann Famille, and it’s going to be relesaed next month.

    coke wine

Rouge Sucette, which translates to ‘Red Lollipop’, contains 75% wine, 25% sugar, water, and a whole lot of cola flavoring. Of course, you could probably just mix wine and Coke in your own home, but it’s not going to be the same, that much I can tell you.

What do you think? Fun concoction or weird booze?
