Video: Nikon Coolpix S1000pj projector-cam gets hands on, ads galore

The just-announced Nikon Coolpix S1000pj digicam / pico projector has been blowin’ up the Interwebs this morning, and we have the video to prove it. First of all, there is a hands-on provided by What Digital Camera over in the UK, and aside from the projector they’ve uncovered a pretty straight forward digital shooter: 12 megapixel, 5x optical zoom, pretty standard dimensions, and a 2.7-inch LCD. However, the projector itself seems to do the job quite admirably. Sure, it’s not an extensive demo, but the image looks clear and crisp. The reviewer deems it “a very, very clever party trick.” And if the straight ahead tech demo doesn’t get you in the mood to snap pictures and project them onto something, advertisers have offered us two visions of the future: take your pick from a spirited get together choc full o’ photogenic American actors, or a somewhat subdued, more elegant affair in the presence of photogenic French actors. All that fun (and more) is to be had after the break.

Video: New Palm Pre ad takes serene approach, just goes with the flow

When we last saw this fair-faced Pre spokesperson, she was sitting on a rock in an otherwise open field playing choreagrapher to a sea of robed individuals encircling her. This latest ad takes a decidedly simpler approach reminiscent of the vibe set in the Meet the Pre series, though we can’t say for sure her if her followers aren’t just waiting off-camera for the next directive. Also, interesting choice of onomatopoeia for sliding through the webOS cards, we imagine there’s a certain, Redmond-based company out there delighted by the subtle (and probably unintentional) reference. See the ad for yourself after the break — and in case you’re wondering, that song that’ll be stuck in your head all day is “Doot Doot” by Freur.

David Beckham bends it like a Terminator for Motorola’s Aura

Never before in the history of humankind has a company that’s been doing so badly had such an enormous amount of money to waste. Enter Motorola, and, consequently, their new Aura advertisement featuring megahunk David Beckham doing what he does best: absolutely nothing. There’s not much that we can say that the Terminator-inspired ad won’t say for us, so putter on after the break and catch the ad itself, plus Beckster beefcaking it up like a pro and sharing his innermost insights on Moto’s $2,000 phone.

[Thanks, ugotamesij]

Microsoft’s second Laptop Hunters commercial: Giampaulo buys an HP HDX

The second installment of Microsoft’s Laptop Hunters commercials went live today, and if you thought our actress friend Lauren lit a fire, well, get ready for Giampaulo, who professes to be “technically-savvy” and calls the unibody MacBook he looks at “so sexy,” but ultimately rejects it because he wants to pay for “computing power,” not the “brand.” Armed with a $1,500 budget, he walks out of Fry’s with an HP HDX 16 that features a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB drive — raw numbers that would cost you $2,499 from Apple, although you’d be getting a vastly better display. Fair? We leave that up to you — video after the break.

P.S.- That’s the two commercials and two HP machines purchased, anyone sensing a trend?

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Honda’s “Let it Shine” commercial turns a grid of Insights into giant LED display

ASIMO and his Earth-loving robot compadres pulling the strings at Honda have once again managed to find a way to save us humans from ourselves. The spot’s called “Let it Shine,” and the video’s after the break. Hit up the read link for the making of video and a detailed carbon footprint breakdown of the shoot — you know you want to.

The BlackBerry Storm ad that might have been

This, shall we say, confrontational BlackBerry Storm ad by NY ad agency Guava has been making the rounds today, depicting a blackberry “bullet” taking a violent path through a familiar-seeming piece of fruit. An anonymous source told us that RIM considered it but eventually got cold feet — and we can understand why. Nonetheless, it’s an awesome bit of smack, so hit up the break and check it out for yourself.

[Thanks, Michael]
