IOGear Unveils New Wireless Keyboards

IOGear Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard

If you’re in the market for a new keyboard that won’t look strange on your coffee table paired with your home theater PC, IOGear’s new Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad will do the trick. The keyboard is piano black with a touch-sensitive trackpad on the right side with two “mouse” buttons underneath it. The keyboard is Bluetooth and can pair with multiple Bluetooth devices, so you can use it with your PC and then bring it over to the couch when it’s time to watch video on the big screen.
IOGear also unveiled the 2.4GHz Wireless Compact Keyboard for devices without Bluetooth. This model is a smaller keyboard with a trackball on the side, complete with scroll wheel and left-and-right mouse buttons.  Both models will be available by the end of Q1, with the Bluetooth model shipping for $79.95 list price and the 2.4GHz Wireless model retailing for $59.99.

NZXT Bunker Protects Your USB Devices

USB Bunker

Afraid someone is going to run off with your mouse or keyboard, or perhaps that someone will find an unused USB port and plug in a keylogger? NZXT’s new USB Bunker is designed to give you a bunch of USB ports that are completely locked down and protected, and not using some fancy software – we mean lock and key.
You’ll need an expansion bay in your desktop computer to install the bunker into, but once it’s in, you can swing it open to plug in your USB devices, and then shut the door over those devices to keep the USB cable in its port and in place so no one can snatch it.
If you have a desktop computer and want to make sure no one has access to your precious USB ports, the USB Bunker can be yours for $24.99 retail price and will be available in March.

HyperDrive: The “World’s First” iPad Hard Drive

hyper drive.JPG

This is the HyperDrive, an external hard drive designed specifically for the iPad. The drive features 750GB of storage and is designed specially with Apple’s tablet in mind. HyperMac’s drive (a name that got the company in legal hot water with Cupertino, recently) has a 3.2 screen, and a rechargeable battery that can back up 250GB in a charge.
It connects to the iPad via mini USB (included) and the Apple Camera Connection Kit (not included). The drive comes in capacities ranging from 120- to 750GB ($299 and $599, respectively). You can also just buy the casing for $249.
The HyperDrive also reads SD cards.

CES: HyperMac Starts Selling Batteries Again with Connector Kits for Mac

CES - HyperMac - iPod Battery

The HyperMac/HyperJuice legal saga started in September when Apple sued the company for using and selling its MagSafe and iPod Dock Connector power adapters with their external battery packs. Things got interesting when, as part of a deal to avoid a drawn-out legal battle with Apple, the company decided to rebrand to HyperJuice instead and stop selling the battery packs entirely in November.
Today, Sanho Corporation (parent company of HyperMac) CEO Daniel Chin announced that HyperMac is back, selling their external battery packs again, and offering two new ways for buyers to connect their battery packs to their MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air.
First, each HyperMac battery will include an airline/auto adapter for charging. The adapter will plug directly into Apple’s own airline MagSafe adapter, which users will have to buy directly from Apple if they want to use this method. The second option is to purchase a HyperMac battery with a DIY kit that allows you to transform an Apple power adapter into one that can be used to connect the battery to your Mac. Both versions, along with HyperMac’s range of external battery packs, are available for purchase now at HyperMac’s Web site.

Mimobot’s Awesome Old School Batman Flash Drive

batman mimobot.jpg

I’m not sure how Mimbot does it–the company may be tapped directly into my brain–but man, I want this thing so bad. The latest flash drive from the company is a limited edition (way to make me want it more) key designed to look like the golden age 1939 dark knight.

The vintage Batman key is limited to 5,000 units, but he’ll soon be joined by Robin, Joker, and Catwoman keys this Februrary, thanks to a deal with DC Comics. The companies also plan to offer a number of other character keys, including Superman, the Flash, and Green Lantern–the latter of which will no doubt get a nice push, thanks to the upcoming movie.

The Batman drive is available now in capacities from 2- to 16GB, through Mimobot’s site and a few select retailers like Kid Robot and the Converse Store.

The Smartfish Engage Keyboard Moves with You While You Type

Smartfish Engage

Making sure your workspace is ergonomic is more important than a lot of people realize until their wrists and neck start hurting from typing while slouched in front of a computer all day. Smartfish Technologies has been in the business of ergonomic peripherals for years now, and their newest product, the Engage Keyboard, is an ergonomic design that moves to adjust itself to your typing habits while you use it.
If you keep your hands farther apart than most keyboards allow, you can slide the left and right sides of the keyboard apart, instead of forcing your wrists into an unnatural position while typing. The same is true for your typing angle: the keyboard can adjust the angle that it rests on your desk to match the angle and height you type from. The Engage Keyboard moves with you while you type so your hands and wrists are never in a single, static position while you work.
Smartfish unveiled the keyboard at CES in Las Vegas this week, and has it on display at the show. It’s available now to order from SmartFish’s Web site for $149.95 list price.

The Hercules XPS101 Adds Style and Sound to Your Desk

Hercules XPS101

For some, form and function are both important – it’s not about one or the other, and for those people, the Hercules XPS101 2.1 Speaker System may be of interest. Hercules is already well known for their digital audio systems and Webcams, and the company’s newest line of PC speakers feature a pair of curved, black speakers for your desk surface and a shiny black subwoofer to go under your desk. All of the components come in piano black with a lacquered finish. Also included with the system is a wired remote that allows you to tweak volume, bass, treble, and other speaker settings.
Hercules promises that the XPS101 delivers high-end sound to match the attractive design, and the speakers feature an auxiliary jack so you can connect a digital music player or game console as a secondary audio source, and a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can connect headphones for more private listening. The XPS101 will be available later this month, retailing for $249.99.

Joby Releases GorillaMobile Ori and Yogi iPad Stands

GorillaMobile Ori - GorillaMobile Yogi

The iPad stand market is more than cluttered, but Joby, makers of the GorillaPod flexible tripod and the GorillaTorch flexible lamp, is planning to shake it up a little. In advance of CES in Las Vegas, Joby has announced the GorillaMobile Ori and the GorillaMobile Yogi, two new iPad stands designed for two different types of users. Pricing and availability haven’t been announced, but the two cases will be on display at CES this week.
The GorillaMobile Ori is a combination iPad case and stand, and goes from being a firm folio-style case that you can slide into a bag or tuck under your arm to a stand that the iPad sits on top of as if it’s on display. The Ori is made of an aluminum/polypropylene composite material that’s strong and light.
The GorillaMobile Yogi features the flexible legs that Joby fans have come to expect in their products, and allows you to clip the stand onto your IPad and then bend the flexible legs to wrap around the back of a car seat, prop up your iPad at just the right angle, or make sure your iPad is stable enough to use on an uneven surface.

The Spiderpodium Tablet is a Stand with Arms

Spiderpodium Tablet

I can’t say I’ve ever wanted a tablet stand that looked like a facehugger from Aliens, but if you’re a huge fan of the movie, or you just like the idea of a stand for your iPad or your Galaxy Tab that keeps your tablet in place with a series of flexible arms that can be arranged for any position, the Spiderpodium Tablet dock is perfect for you.
The dock even looks like a spider, with a hole in the center for a charger and 8 flexible arms with three joints each that can attach to your device and then stand it up in the position you want, or wrap around something else to keep your tablet in position.
The Spiderpodium Tablet’s legs are designed to support any tablet in multiple sizes, so when it’s available you won’t have to worry that it’ll only work with one type of device. The Spiderpodium Tablet will be on display at CES this week in Las Vegas, and Breffo, the company behind it, says the dock will start shipping mid-January.

Omega Headphone Stands Put Your Headphones on Display

Omega Headphone Stand

If you constantly have a pair of headphones connected to your computer, you also probably have a difficult time finding a place to let them rest on or near your desk without them getting in your way. Sure, you can coil up the cable and stash them in a drawer or let them take up space on your desk surface, but with these Omega Headphone Stands, you get a head-shaped piece of wood that will keep your headphones out of the way and turn them into a little desktop art in the process.
You’ll pay for these curved bits of wood though, $180 retail each, to be exact. You have your choice of maple, walnut, cherry, or zebrano finishes over the single piece of wood they’re made from. They’re all the same price and all hand-made.
