Over the past few weeks there have been many rumors about Windows 8.1 update 1. The first major update for the OS has been in development for quite some time now, and Microsoft has heard customer pain points and rectified almost all of them. Today at its BUILD 2014 conference, the Redmond-based company officially confirmed that the Windows 8.1 update 1 release takes place on April 8th. The update will be rolled out to all users for free.

Just when you thought that the Raspberry Pi was the bee’s knees, along comes Intel with an alternative which is not meant to tread on the toes of the Raspberry Pi market, but rather, carve open a niche of their own. Intel’s second iteration of its own x86-based SBC is known as the MinnowBoard Max, where it will offer a whole lot more processing power than the Raspberry Pi without breaking the bank.

Security breaches in the digital world seem to be all too common these days, and such malicious activity does seem to have picked up in pace in recent times, too. Thankfully, what has happened with the email addresses of LinkedIn users this time around IS NOT a security breach, but rather, Sell Hack, a free extension for the Chrome browser, will rely on an algorithm in order for it to “guess” members’ email addresses. This would mean Sell Hack falls back upon publicly available data, after performing a comparison against the rest of the information online, resulting in storing such lookups that ends up in a giant database.

While some might call this to be an April Fool’s prank, it apparently isn’t as the person who leaked out what seems to be an update to the Skype client which boasted of a new chat UI for the hugely popular VoIP program. The tipster known as “Marvin” claimed that he was absolutely clueless as to how he received the update, but at the end of the day, the chat interface looks extremely different from what he was used to. Check out the screenshot above and draw your own conclusions – it shows off the Modern UI that is normally found in the Windows 8 version of Skype.
